Oh, Look! STUFF!!
After being de-slimed--for the most part--and wrapped in discomforting, dark green, plant-like body-suits--that not only left little to the imagination, but also seemed to be breathing--the newly pod-popped crew all happen to congregate in the Weapons and Possessions Lockers at the same time. This cavernous warehouse of a chamber has shelves and shelves and racks of belongings and weapons that go off as far as the eye can see. Everything from massive sidearms to impossibly huge swords, to Hello Kitty lunchboxes.
Their own belongings are here near the front--they've been moved to make finding them more easy, but it will take a bit of hunting.
Either way, they won't be searching alone. Everyone's piling in at the same time.

Blue eyes studied the doctor's face carefully. She was just as perplexed as he seemed to be getting over this. Weren't noone in the 'verse that didn't know any of this. "Yeah there was only one Earth," he agreed, frowning at Temperance, "and we left it over five hundred years ago. Don't you rememberin' learning about humans usin' it up and leavin' in search of new worlds?" Maybe she was the one having the damage in the brain pan.

"No we didn't," Temperance argued, her jaw jutting out stubbornly. "A little over five hundred years ago would have been the beginning of the sixteenth century, and there was certainly no ways to leave the Earth then... We've only within the past fifty years been doing any sort of space travel...."
"I don't understand your sense of humor," Temperance grumbled.

Brushing that part of the conversation aside he sighed, watching the woman before reaching up to pinch at the bridge of his nose. "It's 2518. We ain't been on Earth in over five hundred years and if you don't reckon I'm right, how do you explain this ship?" After lowering his hand he crossed his arms infront of him giving Temperance a flat stare. "No, if I were jokin' you'd know. Trust me."
This coming from the man who had told Simon Kaylee was dead then threatened him with the airlock. Wash was right to call him psycho for it.

She frowned, and sank down to her knees and quickly unzpped her duffle bag and began rummaging around inside. "Ah ha..." She murmured and pulled out her Jeffersonian badge and held it up to him. "See? 2006." She's not crazy, she knows that without a doubt.
And no, Malcolm - poor Temperance wouldn't know if you were joking with her or not. Tis sad, but oh so true.

Looking back down at the pile of stuff he grinned as he found a familiar brown sleeve sticking out from under another bag. Giving it a pull he freed his old, stitched up brown coat he had used during the War and after. "Ahh! This is much better- very, very much better."

Sighing, she handed the coins back and raked her fingers through her hair as she tried to make sense of everything. "Very, very much better?" she repeated, obviously not really all that impressed with his grasp of grammar. "If you're able to travel among the stars, how is it that you can't form a sentence correctly?"

Looking back to where others were at he lightly rolled his shoulders allowing himself to glance back toward Temperance. "And I did get a good education," he added, "just I don't always adhere to it. Not when dealin' with half the folk I do on a daily basis."
no subject
"Reavers?" What the heck were Reavers?! Some sort of.... Ship? She had no idea and wasn't even about to try guessing.
She flashed him a doubtful look... He'd had a good education? Didn't seem that way to her.... But she shook her head. "Well maybe you'll find use for it now. I would certainly appreciate you at least attempting to put your education to good use."

At the question of what Reavers were, his face fell a little. "You just be glad there ain't none of them here or in your time. Government tried t' control folk- make them less likely t' start wars and such. Turns out it either made people not want to do anything like livin' or completely want to destroy it."
Taking a step closer towards Temperance the Firefly captain let his voice drop lower. "Reavers are men and women who lived on a world called Miranda out on the Rim. They use people for sport, food, pleasures. Hell you're lucky if they kill you first before they start cuttin' you up. They're fēng kuáng de."

She watched Malcolm take a step toward her, and one of her eyebrows shot up. "That actually doesn't surprise me in the least," Temperance told him after he'd finished explaining what Reavers were. "There are people like that in my time too. They have no regard for life what-so-ever. Maybe our worlds and times aren't all that different after all."
So, maybe it's obvious that she's still having a hard time believing he's from a completely different time than she is... But it is a lot to take in in such a short amount of time.

"Oh we know a little 'bout Earth-that-was through book learnin'. Lot of the musics and books are still popular in th' Core worlds." And it was obvious that English had to be one of the predominant languages as well. "Come on- don't know 'bout you but I wanna take a look 'round this place."

She frowned, glancing away and took a breath. And not so surprising wishing that Angela was here.
Swinging her attention back to Malcolm, her brows listed a little in interest. She was tempted to ask about the music and books that were still popular, but decided that maybe it was a conversation best saved for later. "You're right, maybe looking around will give some clues as to what exactly is going on."

"I'm bettin my money th' Alliance has a hand in this. Usually does when the creepy stuff starts happenin."
no subject
"Alliance?" She repeated, and shook her head. "Something else from your time?"

There wasn't many people he'd tell that to outside of his crew of other folks he was close with. Brennan didn't know anything about the 'verse in 2518 so he felt a little obligated to give her a brief insight.

"Totalitarian governments are notorious for suppressing independent intellectual development in order to prevent the general populace from concluding that their philosophies are not based upon any sound scientific principles."
She frowned, shaking her head. "That and they are normally very quick to gun down anyone who tries to oppose their power. It's highly disappointing to find that's the direction that humanity is going to take."
