Relaxing and Recuperating [Open]
The nice thing about being injured was the amount of sleep Negi got. Chamo had absolutely refused to let him walk so everywhere he went he was floating on his staff, riding side-saddle in order to not strain himself.
Today however, he had decided to read one of the books he had purchased down at the local bookstore, a tale of swords and mages, demon gods and blowing up cities in the name of profit and good fun. So sitting down in his room, he was paging through the book, reading through the book as he sipped on a drink that was provided to him by the caretaker. Soft stands of music filtered into the dorms from outside as he adjusted the tank top he wore. It was still the silly girls outfit he wound up in a while ago but Negi wasn't too worried about it. The wig he still wore, littered with braids both big and small with little ornaments in them.
Quietly, he turned the page while his injuries continued to heal.

She hadn't been able to do much of anything. Everything that was done was Nyaromon. And she wasn't sure why that bothered her all that much, it wasn't like back home things were much different.
Then again, back home, she hadn't seen other people fighting instead of hiding behind a transforming monster either.
She let out another sigh as she walked past one of the rooms, heading towards... well, she wasn't really sure.

He was smiling at her, but the last time they encountered each other, he was a depressed shell of a teenager and so was she. Again.
Mou...

Ookay...
"Umm... do I know you?" she asked, blinking again.

He blushed as he pulled the wig off, revealing the same red hair that was tied up in a messy mop of hair. "I blame Chamo for the clothing and Vivio for the braids in the wig, but uh, it's not as weird as it sounds. Okay, it is weird as it sounds but really, the outfit's actually pretty comfy since I'm healing internal injuries and I'm babbling aren't I?"

Braids being Vivio's fault she could understand. Quite easily, in fact.

She really didn't know what to think about that. The way she figured it, a lot of things could go wrong with them.

"There's cookies on the table too if you want one," added Negi.

He put the book down, folding the corner of the page before closing it. "I think we did exceptionally well even if it was a loss. We can learn from it, and try harder as well. Of course that's my optimism showing but..."

Negi was thinking of Fate, and how it seemed like an impossible goal to defeat him. But something else was nagging at the young man, and he bit his lip. "Sometimes, you have to figure out just what you can do at that point in time... before you can defeat that obstacle in mind."

When she reached the room, she was surprised to find that there was a girl there, reading a book. It only took a flicker of a second to realize that it wasn't a female at all, but a boy. With braids. And a tank top with shorts and fox ears and a tail.
That was the oddest thing she had ever seen.
"Are you Negi Springfield?"

He kind of wished by now that he had changed out of his outfit which Chamo put him in hilariously enough but it was the thought that counted.

"I wish to speak to you. It involves the interaction you've had with an acquaintance of mine, a person named Sasami. We have decided to be familiar with each other, and so I would naturally want to know your intentions involving her."

Pulling off the wig and ears, he decided to get a little more serious. After all, you couldn't be serious when lounging around in relaxing outfits, fox bits and all. "What did you want to know?" inquired Negi. "My intentions? I want to protect her."

She could care less now if he was bothered by her being a demon. She wanted to make sure that his reasons and his personality was true. She would find out this way.

Negi shuffled his fingers around a little in thought. "I do it because I care about her, like all my students. Maybe a little more, I'm still figuring that out. But I feel like I want to protect her, no, I need to. She's always friendly to me, caring and gentle. And I want to lend my strength to give her hope."

After saying that, Alessa understood something: it was likely the boy was attracted to Sasami for the very same reasons that she had decided to be her friend. That particular way she was, the way she smiled and accepted others: it was both refreshing and naive, and she wanted to prevent it from being extinguished, if only because the girl had others best interest.
"We may have more in common than I thought," Alessa said. "If you are giving her strength for that reason, then maybe I do not need to worry as much about her. That's good. But I am curious about something, Naegi Koon Springfield."
She paused. "Why do you want to be scantily clad fox girl?"

"Ah, pactio is an old custom handed down by the first queen of Vesperatia, a woman so powerful she forged the magic world according to legend. And she had a partner, which set the basics for a mage-and-partner system. I myself was taught at my hometown in Wales, but my two teachers were Jack Rakan-san, a friend of my fathers as well as Evangeline A.K. McDowell, one of the members aboard the ship. I also have another teacher in the martial arts, one of my students Ku Fei, but she isn't here nor I don't believe you want to know about that for the time being."

She wasn't one for words at most times, so politeness was a very foreign concept. So this was the person that Sasami chose to be her mate. She had to admit, Sasami could do worse, and by her association with him, Sasami had actually increased her strength. A boon as well as something desired by the girl.
At the mention of his teacher, Alessa's ears perked up. "You are a pupil of Evangeline's? That is a little startling: despite your magical strength, you are surprisingly meek and innocent. I would not have thought that Evangeline would like those qualities in her pupils."
It wasn't a dig, just a statement of observation. So even Evangeline's reasoning could be as baffling as her own. That was a comfort.
"Why wouldn't I?" Alessa asked. "That's a rather bold assumption."
no subject
"Uh, well I was just thinking you were wanting to chat magic is all," said Negi, ducking his head a little. "Sorry for the assumption. I thought you wouldn't be interested in Chinese Martial Arts."
