"OW! That so totally hurts!" -- Charles Xavier

The battle against the Ohm raged on, and the casualties on the ground were mounting. Injured crew members got emergency treatment in the field, which largely amounted to patching them up so they wouldn't die sometime within the next fifteen minutes. After that, they were quickly picked up by shuttle and brought back to the ship, where they were sent to a medbay that was getting progressively more crowded.

The situation was growing increasingly dire, to the point that Stacy activated one of the AI's to help out.

"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

Ben tried to focus through the haze of pain. "G-Gwen? No... not Gwen... oh hi mom..."

There is a cool cloth against Ben's forehead, to mop up the sweat and the dirt and anything that might infect the wound. "Can you see me well?"

"Having trouble focusing," replied Ben with a groan. "Electrocution... hard to speak..."

"Then tell me, can you feel my finger on your palm." She pressed her index finger against his open hand, biting her lower lip as she continued to clean up the sweat and the dirt upon his face.

"A... little..." replied Ben. Really, it was hard for him to talk at the moment, having screamed himself hoarse and the sensation of being electrocuted was painful in itself.

"Your voice is dry. That...that's not good." She knows what a voice who has screamed itself hoarse sounds like. And she feels a tidal wave of guilt come over - if she'd really been his mom, then she'd have been there to help him on the battlefield.

But then, this is what she'd worried about on the field when it came to Katara. Katara's stubborn, and will do whatever she can to help others. So while she managed to keep Katara off a stretcher...here's her kid, on one.

There is an expression of intense thoughtfulness and guilt-wallowing upon Nura's features.

"Could... be worse," grunted Ben. "Lost a leg, killed again..."

"Don't tell me the 'could be worse' line, Ben." She says sternly. She tries to not look at his lower half, where he seems the most mangled, but she cannot stop herself...and the guilt almost drags her down. She bites her lip, almost enough to bring blood, and places an ice pack on Ben's abdomen.

"Don't talk. Just...silently move your mouth, if the ice helps numb the pain."

The ice did and Ben mouthed "Thanks" silently as he groaned. It hurt like hell, but at least he felt better.

Nura hates that groaning sound. She hates any sound of pain. But she forces herself to push down those worries and continue to remove the dirt and blood from Ben's upper body with another cool cloth, leaving the first one on Ben's forehead in case there could any fever.

At least there was someone who was looking out for him. Gwen and Kevin weren't there and certainly not his real mom or dad. But still, it felt good to be taken care of after feeling like an army ripped through him.
