"OW! That so totally hurts!" -- Charles Xavier

The battle against the Ohm raged on, and the casualties on the ground were mounting. Injured crew members got emergency treatment in the field, which largely amounted to patching them up so they wouldn't die sometime within the next fifteen minutes. After that, they were quickly picked up by shuttle and brought back to the ship, where they were sent to a medbay that was getting progressively more crowded.

The situation was growing increasingly dire, to the point that Stacy activated one of the AI's to help out.

"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

"Woah take it easy, and don't move. You're okay. You're in the medbay, and I'm here." He tried to make his voice as even, and calm as he could. Arha was tough, but everyone needed some reassurance in these kinds of situations. Force knew he did when he found himself this banged up. At least she'd woken up. That was good.

"You gave us quite the scare there for a while."

Did my X-Wing. Make it. Home? Arha had to focus hard to get the words out and they came in reluctant spurts of image and a mental voice that sounded as weary as her body was. Her voice wasn't going to cooperate. Wedge. Will kill. Her eyes closed. Me. So many...scratches.

She was silent for a beat.

My pilots, my Jed-Eye? No one dead? The brush of her mind was almost gently probing, trying to figure out from where she was if he was damaged.

Stop that. You've strained yourself enough today. He knew her though, and she wouldn't stop until he told her. Sighing he reached out again in the Force. It will be alright. Some work, but I'm sure we can get her flying again. Don't worry about Wedge either. He'd much rather scrap an X-Wing than lose a pilot. You made it back, that's good enough for him I'm sure. Everyone else made it back. A bit banged up, but they'll live.

I am a healer, such is my way, Arha said tiredly, then frowned. I will fix her. It was my own fault and I shall make her better. She is my responsibility. I still worry--if I break my X-Wing, I shall not fly. If I do not fly, I am no pilot. You are well, though?

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We have mechanics who are there to fix it. At least let them get a start on it okay? She was so stubborn it couldn't help but make him smile a bit. I'm fine. Had a few bumps, but nothing to worry about. Except you of course. Please try to take it easy for a bit. At least a day, or two?

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
But it is my own and I can put it back together myself. There was frustration in her voice and she let out a breath. They may work on it so long as I remain...healing. But I shall do the rest. Arha forced her eyes open to give him a puffy-eyed, but nonetheless piercing stare.

She wanted to get up, but she was stuck in this space until she healed properly.

Have you had these bumps looked at? Her words were sharp with concern. His bumps could be anything, after all. One's injuries could be made light and still be enough to have someone holler over. And I shall be at rest only so long as this infernal machine keeps me stuck in this place. I shall have to heal faster, so that I may do the things I wish to do.

She swallowed with some difficulty and let out a breath through gritted teeth as she gathered the necessary strength.

"I wish," she said, forcing the words out, each of them bitten off, sliced through the throbbing of her injuries, "to be home. With you. Not. Here."

Not here. Get me out. It is loud.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Woah, lay down...please. Everything is going to be alright." Now he was really worried again. Just how far had she pushed herself? I'll talk to the doctor, and see how soon I can get you out of here. If I can't I'll stay with you. You're not going to be on your own here, I promise.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Her palms ached.

Arha realized, then, that she had been fighting the urge to heal the entire time she had been awake. Her jaw tightened and she pressed her lips together. She fought to keep them from trembling, turning her entire life's lessons to keep herself still. The flash of horror was there, though, and she half choked on a reply.

Give me your hand, my Jed-Eye, she hissed. You will understand what I mean when I say that you must get me out of this place. Her hands were blazing with desert heat shot through the the Force and the more she tried to suck it in, to clamp down on it, the worse it made her feel. I cannot be here.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Her tone in his mind was enough for him to stop with the worrying, and react. Quickly he grabbed her hand. What do you need me to do? Just tell me.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Her hand closed around his tightly. You pick me up and you get me out of here. The compulsion, the need to pour the raw energy into healing was so strong that even with her Mothers-Within fighting with her, it still flared. You get me out of here, now, Kyle. And you don't let anyone stop you. Not that Thinking Machine doctor, not the alien. No one. Take me back to the villa. I can rest just as well there. I will sleep and I will heal. It is loud, here. It is loud and I wish to sleep. Do not let the Thinking Machine put the drugs in me. It does not help. Away from this place it will be quiet.

Her hands flared again in a spasm and she clamped down on it.

She had not lost control. Even in battle when the wounded were brought to her again and again. But she had never tried to throw space-ships around and then shoot. The strain had been too much, especially for her nascent abilities--yes, she was nearly a Knight, but her first battle was just that. And she had nearly broken herself to protect Asuka.

This was, apparently, her price.

No more time for arguing then. Carefully as he could, he picked Arha up, and rushed for the door. Nothing was going to stop him, and anything that tried was going to get a shove through the Force. A gentle one, but a shove none the less.

Hang in there we're leaving. Just hang in there.

And there was the EMH, standing there with a stern expression on his holographic face. He puffed up his chest a little and leveled a particularly annoyed glance at Kyle.

"I am afraid you're taking my patient from my care without proper authorization," he said, keeping his tone as civil as possible. "She should remain in my custody until further notice. If you must know, there was some internal bleeding that I, fortunately, was able to stop. Her condition is--"

Arha let out a cry of protest.

"Oh." He took out his tricorder and frowned. "You are emitting strange energy readings. Are you sure this action is necessary? I am the Emergency Medical Hologram and I am full equipped to deal with a broad range of emergencies. I am cert--"

"Please move," Arha whispered, burying her face against Kyle's neck. Her cheek was very nearly scalding. "Quickly." I will be fine. Once we are in the City. Away. I know it.

The EMH blinked in confusion.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry Doctor, but we don't have time. I'll explain later. Once I know what the hell is going on myself." Pushing past the EMH Kyle pounded the ground with as much speed as he could summon. Whatever was going on she needed him to get her away from here, and he'd do just that. By the time they reached the City he was pretty well exhausted himself. Last time he'd run like that there had been AT-STs involved. Slumping against a nearby wall he tried to catch his breath. He still wasn't putting Arha down however. Not until he had a bed for her to rest in at least.

"Are you alright? Sorry about the rough ride."

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am better," she said shakily. Her hands still bled energy, but they found his bumps and bruises and there was a healing rush, streaming strength back into him. How much of it he accepted was up to him. Arha couldn't apologize for healing him, but the compulsion had settled to a hum that left her drained.

Much better. I do not feel as if the entire medical bay is sucking my energy from me. It was fascinating, though, that the compulsion and the bleed only happened while she was conscious. It is okay, now. I am...sorry for the panic. The only other time this happened was in a battle a good six years behind me. I had to be dragged away. They left me in the open desert. I called Shai-Hulud. He brought me to my home. If it were not for my affinity, I would have died that day. I do not know why this thing happens, perhaps because my guard is completely down.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
He frowned as she healed him. He rejected as much of it as he could, but still a couple of his bruises disappeared and his bones ached a bit less. "It's alright. I'm just glad you're safe now. In the future I'll try to make sure that situation doesn't happen again."

Losing her in the medbay because she healed everyone was not acceptable. Well losing her at all wasn't acceptable, but that way especially.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Do not let me heal for awhile, Arha said softly. I am not sure if anything would happen anyway, not after this. I believe for the first time in years I may be all tapped out. The Force allows to speak this way, such I am grateful for. I hope Vader will be fine without a healing for a few days.

She leaned her head against his shoulder.

I am safe. With you. I suppose it isafe to say that if I am conscious and in such a condition, it could recur. I that case, I should be moved.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Vader would be just fine! At least he would be as long as he didn't harass Arha. "I won't let anything happen to you don't worry. Do you want to go back to the villa? I know it's not anywhere near finished, but it should be quiet and far from anyone else."

He wasn't a medic, but he could keep a close eye on her until she was better.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, the villa. I think the beds might have been moved already, but I am unsure. If not, they should be, with their linens and the other goods, where we stored them. I did most of the clearing before we left. There is just dusting and bits of rubble that I know I cannot life right now. Arha's mental voice was sleepy as she tucked herself against him.

It matters not what I lay on. I am comfortable so long as nothing provokes sharp movement or healing. It was easier to speak using this Force, thusly. Her jaw hurt from being rattled around and her throat was sore.

[identity profile] mercjedi.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure we'll be able to manage something." If all else failed he'd just pile up the linens, and do the best he could to make her comfortable. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would do. In fact he had some rather fond memories of curling up with her like that. At least they had the villa, and he'd be able to move the furniture in time if it wasn't already. He'd just need to find someone to keep an eye on her first. Under no circumstances was he leaving her alone until she was healed. Not with Vader around. It was just asking for trouble.

"Just try to rest, and I'll get us there alright?"

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2010-07-04 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
A soft, mental mmm was her reply to that as she let herself sink a little futher into a doze. Waking and realizing she was being drained had been a shock enough, but the exhaustion was another thing. Oddly, she had no need for food and wasn't the least bit hungry even after healing Kyle the little bit she had. Arha just wanted to sleep for a long while.

Her sleepy response was sluggish at best, colored with a mental display if half-dreams. X-Wings, Jed-Eye, Vader, Kyle, Wedge. The squadron. Fixing her X-Wing.

All of the images flashed about, vivid and bright. And, too, there was a mental image of being curled up in blankets. Soft, nice blankets.
