The battle raged on, but while the crew fought valiantly, the Ohm continued to come at them at full force.

Something had to be done, or they would soon be overrun.

Cargn, ever thinking of the larger picture, had released his familiar, Unit XXVI, at the beginning of the battle. It flew high above the battlefield, watching, waiting, searching for one target in particular.

And it had just found it.

The information was instantly transmitted to Cargn via his telepathic link with the machine. Even as he was fighting, he already had a battle plan forming in his head, centuries of experience being put to good use.

++Attention, all units,++ he calls over the comms, ++This is Brother Cargn. I have located the Node. Repeat, I have located the Node. I have currently formulated a plan to strike at it, and am assuming supervision of the ground ground forces for this operation.++

++To the following units,++ he continues, selecting those warriors nearby suited to the task at hand from his omnicomm, ++Form up on my position. We will assume the role of strike team, to destroy the Node. All other units will form up at the designated coordinates I have sent to your maps. You will provide a final push against the Ohm force, covering the strike team, and making an opening for them to penetrate the swarm and make their way to the Node.++

++You have your orders. Good luck, and Emperor's Blessings.++

Nanashi moved back around to the front of Negi and gave him a "You know what I told you to do" stare, but did not refuse to let him allow Sasami to try. He was a powerful fighter, but he was hurt. If Sasami was doing the attacks, it would no hurt Negi so long as he remained up here.

Nanashi smiled at Sasami as well, "Come, show me how strong you are Sasami." She wanted to see how effectively another child would be able to protect Negi.

Was Nanashi trying to taunt her? Or test her? It didn't matter at this point.

"I'll give it a go." Sasami said, taking the weapon from Negi and taking aim. She'd protect him, no matter what.

Sasami aimed the weapon at the Ohm, trying to keep it away from those fighting and fired, letting the beam strike down. At the same time, she winced from the pain of her earlier wounds.

"Don't push yourself too much. Powering someone else's artifact is pretty much like jacking AC into a DC outlet," said Negi, resting an arm around her middle. "We should be good for one more blast."

So someone else could use that magic? Interesting. Nanashi flew to Sasami and rested her hand on her shoulder. She could see the pain it was causing the little girl and she instantly regretted trying to push her. "Do not push yourself, little one."

The girl wanted to protect Negi at least. She would probably protect him well enough, and not betray him- as long as they weren't in a terribly pressing situation at least. She didn't know the girl's purity well enough to know how much pressure she could take.

Nanashi turned to Negi, "Can I lend my power to this weapon?" If she could, Nanashi was more than happy to have that much power in her hands. She was already eyeing out what cuts would be the most strategic.

Sasami heard what both Negi and Nanashi had said. She WAS pushing herself a little too hard. She wasn't in her adult form, so she didn't have the endurance she had before.

She took another shot at the creatures before relaxing a bit, letting the gun be loose enough so Nanashi could take it if Negi would let her.

"If she can do so, maybe we should let her..." Sasami said, panting a bit.

Negi nodded as he handed the kitty on a gun stock over to Nanashi. "Aim at the furthest uppermost corner please."

The Ohm was pretty hopping mad but fortunately the front lines was keeping them off them as the laser weapon drained Negi's magic.

Nanashi lined up the gun, aiming carefully the same way Riza Hawkeye did, having watched Riza carefully once in the sensoriums. It was her first time using the weapon, if Negi wanted her to aim at the furthest uppermost corner, she would. She would just drag it across every key point she could find while being careful of their forces. "Got it," she said as soon as she had lined up the sight.

She pulled the trigger, and... she did not expect that. She could feel her strength draining. She carefully guided the beam across the horde. A little worried about the strange feeling she asked, "I can feel my strength going, is that normal?"

"I... I think so. We're using someone else's weapon, so... I don't think we're meant to be really using it much." Sasami said.

In a way, it was true. Using her own Artifact, she was actually stronger. Using the one Negi was proved draining.

"...I think we should get going. We keep this up and we're not going to be in any condition to fight..."

"You're right. Let's get out of here quick and fall back to the medical area."

Jumpjets firing, he pulled Sasami with him and called out, "Nanashi-sama, let's get going!"

Nanashi made a 'tch'ing sound. She hadn't been intending on leaving so soon, but she would at least escort the little ones to the med area. "Fine, I'll make sure you two get there safe."

Nanashi flew after Negi, handing him back the kitty gun.
