On Your Feet, Soldier [R for Cussing] [Closed]

After driving himself crazy with the hand-eye coordination work--i.e. tracing shapes--that Dr. Grey had given him to work on, Sam needed a break. Unfortunately, when you have been injured, are in recovery, and your last name just so happens to be Winchester, a 'break' means getting your butt working on something else so that you hurry up and get better. The fact that he was trapped on an insane ship full of life-threatening situations around every corner--Yeerks? Giant Roaches?--just made it all the more imperative that Sam recover even more quickly.

So, instead of hand-eye coordination, Sam was on his feet--in a sense--working on coordinating his walking. The medbay had somehow grown a set of railings for Sam to use for this very purpose. While he wasn't completely incapacitated--he could move his legs rather easily, after all--it was still difficult for him to control just where his feet landed, or how they landed. So it made balancing on his own two feet a struggle. This is what he was working on.

He moved in the space between the railings with his hands hovering over the beams--ready to catch himself if he stumbled--while he took slow, gradual steps, focusing his attention on controlling his stride. Dean sitting on one of the beds, staring, didn't help.

"Dude, you're doing it again," Sam said, slightly irritated.

"I'm not gonna masturbate on a ship that looks like the inside of your stomach, Dean."

Dean sure as hell is.

"It was just a suggestion." Dean says as mildly as he's able. "But if you wanna do it the boring way, go ahead."

Sam paused his 'walking' and just stared at his brother.

He cleared his throat. "You do know that Stacy probably watches everything we do right?"

"Yeah, and?" Dean asks, shrugging. "If she wants a show, she's welcome to peek in. Besides, she's a computer, right? Who cares?"

"I've seen what you've got to show, Dean," Sam reminded. "It ain't pretty."

Oh, Dean would so throw a pillow at him if he could.

"What's that supposed to mean, bitch?"

"It means the last time I felt that traumatized was when you made me watch Ron Jeremy porn when I was twelve."

Dean rolls his eyes. "That wasn't nearly as bad as the Paris sex tape. That was just pathetic."

Pause, then: "... You're lumping me in the same category as Ron Jeremy? I'm offended."

"I'm scarred."

"Dude, you fight demons, vampires, werewolves, and ghosts for a living, and you're scarred by a porno? Pansy."

"It was Ron Jeremy, Dean," Sam emphasized. "I was twelve and you subjected me to Ron Jeremy. And which would you rather face? Vampires and werewolves? Or Ron Jeremy...naked?"

"... Alright, good point." Dean agrees, almost reluctantly. But he waves it off, half-grinning. "Quit whining and get walking."

Sam just rolled his eyes. But, like a good little puppy, he did exactly as Dean said and resumed his therapy.

"So, is that all you've been doing when you're not in here? Getting freaky in the sensorium?" Sam asked. It was't much of a change in subject try not at all but it sure as hell beat having Dean just sit there, quietly staring at him.

Dean decides he's bored of staring, so he'll lean back against the wall, hands behind his head and eyes closed. He answers like that.

"Nah, that's not all I've been doing. I've been socializing. Discussing the meaning of life with people. That sort of thing." And looking for booze, but he hadn't found any, and Sam didn't need to know that, anyway.

"Oh yeah? Like with who?"

"Like that Paco kid. And the other one. Uh. Superboy. Kon, that's his name."

Sam shakes his head.

"Why does that not surprise me?"

Dean raises an eyebrow.

"What?"

"Nothing..."

"Hey, there's no way in Hell you're getting away with that one. What do you mean, you're not surprised?" Dean doesn't sound angry or anything, just a bit demanding.

"It's nothing, ok? Just drop it," Sam replied. He then focused his attention on the next few steps.

Dean rolls his eyes, and proceeds to pout in his own special way for a few minutes. And then he gets bored again, so he glances over at Sam.

"So that Paco kid's not so bad."

"Yeah, I know," Sam nodded. His eyes were narrowed as he struggled to keep his leg from shaking as he took another step. "He helped me get out of the tunnels when we were captured by the giant roaches."

"Right, he told me about that," Dean nods, and he can't help it, he's staring again. It's so weird, to see Sam unable to do this, and almost scary. But Dean's not concentrating on that, is doing everything he can to not think about it. So instead, he stares, and keeps talking.

"Described the damn things in full detail. Roaches are nasty."

"Yeah," Sam nodded. "I suppose he told you I got shot in the foot, too, huh?"
