Run run run, as fast as you can [CLOSED]
((ooc: Currently locked to Kyle Katarn - mostly only locked because I can't deal with more threads. XD Toss me a ping if you'd like some CR, though, and we can talk! ^^))
Resorts are not exactly Tay's thing, especially resorts where she can't carry any weapons. And she's not really taken by the idea of splashing in the ocean, or going shopping for trinkets, or anything like that.
So instead, she has found a currently empty stretch of beach and is testing her speed and reflexes, wings out, racing along the firm sand at the water's edge. She's been working in the Sensoriums, but having real ground beneath her feet, running down a real stretch of land, that's a lot better for gauging what she can and can't do, in her opinion.

"Dammit!" It's okay, Kyle, she doesn't blame you. She's just feeling self-conscious. "Now I have sand in my wings!" she calls accusingly. Okay, maybe she blames him a little.

She shakes her hand a bit and opts to ignore the sting as best she can. Which is pretty well. "Thanks for the distraction, by the way, dude. Do I even know you?" She's pretty sure the answer's no, as she doesn't really know much of anybody, but he could just be creepily friendly.

Hey, they're not in a briefing now. They're on the fucking beach. She can say whatever the hell she pleases.

"Don't be to hard on yourself though. Wedge is just trying to run a tight ship. He just needs for everyone to know who's in charge right now. If I'd said anything more than I did he would have done the same thing to me, and we go way back."

"So, we're flying space... fighter jets, right?" Tay is woefully uneducated in the ways of pop culture. Her cousin Aaron would probably weep to know that she has no idea what an X-wing is. But Aaron always was the oddball of the family.

What? It was healthy competition!
"Pretty much. They're good fighters, and they've served for a long time back in my universe. If you keep your cool, and remember your training they'll bring you home safe."

Tay might bounce a little. Just a tiny bit. She's pretty excited to learn to fly, and she's only sixteen - she can't always cover it well. "And we'll be training once we get back from our forced beach vacation?" Oh please oh please oh please, she thinks hopefully to herself.
She's been fucking bored.
Sorry! RL tried to kill me.
The statement was far more truthful than he'd have preferred. Price he paid for trying to save the galaxy all the time. "I'm sure we will be once leave is. We need to integrate everyone, and who knows when the Ohm could show up. We might even finally get a mission from the Daligig. So think you're up for it? It's going to be challenging."
If she wanted to push herself that hard all the better. Kyle could keep an eye out to make sure she didn't take it to the breaking point, and he was sure that Tycho or Wedge would spot it long before he did anyway.
No problem. I think I still owe people tags from a week ago. XD
Tay nods enthusiastically in response to Kyle's questions. "Hell, yeah! I am getting so bored just sitting around kicking imaginary punching bags and shit in the Sensoriums, and there is nothing else to do." Not that she's found interesting, anyway. "Anyway, I was made for fighting, and flying just sounds..." she searches for a word, and settles on, "awesome." Awesome doesn't really convey the full measure of her excitement for it, but it's about as close as she can get.

Never mind that she still has yet to feel anything like the urge to hunt her family always talked about. Just that almost-aching feeling that something's missing. It's gotta be just because there aren't any demons to hunt. That's the only thing that makes sense. It's not like a Barnam would have any calling but to be an archangel.

If you let that drive you during a military engagement instead of keeping a cool head you'd end up dead real fast.

Well, there's also torture or whatever, but she doesn't think that way - torture is what demons do.
She may have to fight the urge to lose her cool from time to time, but as long as she's got someone to talk her down, she'll be okay.

It's easier to say than do, but whatever drawbacks her upbringing might have, they taught her well. You don't go off alone if you can help it, you watch your partner's back.
