Run run run, as fast as you can [CLOSED]

((ooc: Currently locked to Kyle Katarn - mostly only locked because I can't deal with more threads. XD Toss me a ping if you'd like some CR, though, and we can talk! ^^))

Resorts are not exactly Tay's thing, especially resorts where she can't carry any weapons. And she's not really taken by the idea of splashing in the ocean, or going shopping for trinkets, or anything like that.

So instead, she has found a currently empty stretch of beach and is testing her speed and reflexes, wings out, racing along the firm sand at the water's edge. She's been working in the Sensoriums, but having real ground beneath her feet, running down a real stretch of land, that's a lot better for gauging what she can and can't do, in her opinion.

Kyle was laying back in the sand watching the ocean when he saw the girl run by. He vaguely remembered her being at the Rogue Squadron meeting so he waved to her. If he was mistaken well no harm in being friendly now was there?

Kyle shook his head softly chuckling to himself, and stood up to go give her a hand if she needed it. Kids, at that age they never paid any attention to where they were going. Sure this one had wings, but he'd seen all sorts of species in his travels, and they all did the same things at that age. Even he'd ended up head over heels a few times when he was younger. "Hey are you alright? You took a good tumble there."

"Sorry, I'm Kyle Katarn. I thought I recognized you from the Rogue Squadron meeting. If I mixed you up with someone else I apologize." The girl certainly had some fierceness about her. Not always a bad quality in a pilot if it could be tempered correctly.

"Eh it can be hard when they're running their mouths. I'm sure we'll get it all sorted out soon." Kyle certainly wasn't going to stand for that ever happening again. He might be Jedi, but this was the Rogues, and that took a different approach than the one to training young Force users. Discipline first, and always. Only way for a unit to function. It still amazed him that Asuka kid was stupid enough to do that in front of the whole squadron. He was lucky Tycho hadn't smoked him right there.

"Don't be to hard on yourself though. Wedge is just trying to run a tight ship. He just needs for everyone to know who's in charge right now. If I'd said anything more than I did he would have done the same thing to me, and we go way back."

"I understand how hard it can be to let it go, but the best thing you can do right now is have yourself squared away as an example to both him, and the others." Kyle almost laughed at himself. It had been years since he'd been in any formal military unit yet here he was already advising the new recruits like an old NCO. Old habits died hard it seemed. "And if that's not enough there's always showing him up in the sims."

What? It was healthy competition!

"Pretty much. They're good fighters, and they've served for a long time back in my universe. If you keep your cool, and remember your training they'll bring you home safe."

Sorry! RL tried to kill me.

Oh, Kyle was starting to like her. She had the right sort of attitude they needed in new recruits. Hopefully it would rub off on the others a bit. Force knows some of the needed it badly, and it would be a lot better of a solution than his boot up their backside. "Hey don't knock a forced beach vacation. You don't know how much you'll miss them until you haven't had one for about ten years."

The statement was far more truthful than he'd have preferred. Price he paid for trying to save the galaxy all the time. "I'm sure we will be once leave is. We need to integrate everyone, and who knows when the Ohm could show up. We might even finally get a mission from the Daligig. So think you're up for it? It's going to be challenging."

If she wanted to push herself that hard all the better. Kyle could keep an eye out to make sure she didn't take it to the breaking point, and he was sure that Tycho or Wedge would spot it long before he did anyway.

"What do you mean you were made for fighting?" Kyle frowned. He really didn't like how that sounded. It either meant that she'd been raised as a soldier, or that she had actually indeed been made in a tube for fighting. Both of those were terrible things to do to a person.

"Ah, family tradition. Guess it wouldn't matter much now even if the tradition was something else. We all have to fight now." It still bothered him though. He didn't like kids her age feeling pressured to choose a particular path even if their parents meant well. "Remember though, we're fighting to win this war, and get our worlds back. Not for vengeance."

If you let that drive you during a military engagement instead of keeping a cool head you'd end up dead real fast.

"In a way, but it's the reasons in our hearts that matter. It guides our actions. If you go into this looking for payback it won't end well. People that do that tend to get so wrapped up in their revenge that they forget to protect those still with them." He really seemed to be having this particular conversation a lot lately. It was understandable. Everyone, himself included was in pain, and it was only natural to want revenge. Thankfully most of the crew seemed to be keeping their heads about it.

"Exactly how you should be thinking kid. Keep that in mind, and you'll do fine." At least it looked like her family had taught her the right things. One less loose cannon to worry about in a squadron full of them.
