Biweekly Warfare Training - Block Three
Another day of training, which meant more bruises and more aches for everyone involved, even the instructors. Kang was looking more stern than usual, arms crossed over his chest as he watched the students practice using their opponents' momentum to their advantage; his wings rustled as one was flipped onto their back, something they could have easily avoided if they'd been paying attention and covering their openings like they were supposed to. They should have known better after a month of having it drilled into their head.
[Aaaaugh I fail. This should have been up Monday.
Just like last time, Erii. I wanted to get it up ASAP so it wouldn't be too late. D:
Previously!
April 26 - May 9: Basics of hand-to-hand, proper knife and sword handling. Important points: Eye contact with an opponent at all times, prevention of telegraphing moves, breathing, learning to read an opponent and spot weaknesses. Most of it so far has been defensive rather than offensive.
May 10 - May 23: More hand-to-hand, basic offensive moves with knives and swords, basics of guns.
Things to be covered!
You guessed it. Hand to hand. Also, beginning to combine offensive and defensive moves with knives and swords, and more gun work.
Note!
Kang is. Uh. Going to be a little snappy and a bit rougher the next few days. He got his memories back and he's pissed at the Ohm. If anyone wants to call him on it, feel free~]

hand-to-hand sparring!
He stood there observed the students filing into the tavern and glanced at Kang. He knew his scaled friend had gotten his memories of the Ohm attack back and wasn't too happy about it. Something, as strange as it sounds, he had been stalling to do to himself. What was the point if they couldn't go back to that point and change things? Besides, weren't they currently working towards getting their world back? Anyway it was about time to start.
"As usual, find a partner and spar. Try someone you haven't sparred with before. And don't forget to keep your eyes on your opponent. Many of you still aren't making eye contact all the time. Grow eyes at the back of your head if you need to. Eye contact."
Re: hand-to-hand sparring!
Katara listened to Ronan's instructions, nodding to herself when he was finished, her eyes wandering to Billy and Jamie and Renne before focusing on her new opponent. She hoped the guys did well today.
basic knife maneuvers
Ronon had prepared wooden knives with red dye along the edges that would rub off if touched. "Everyone grab a knife. Last lesson we learnt different basic offensive and defensive maneuvers. This time let's see what you remember."
He looked around and saw some eager faces, and others.. not so eager. "These knives will leave red marks on you if you've been 'cut' by it. First we'll do a quick run-through of what we've learnt then spar. So everyone get into your fighting stance..."
First Ronon demonstrated clean slices aimed at the neck, across the chest and across the stomach. Everyone followed and when he was happy enough, they moved onto defensive moves. They were short knife blocks covering the vital areas they were learning to attack; the neck, chest and abdomen. He drilled them until he was satisfied then he let his students spar with each other.
gun basics
He brought the students outside the tavern to a small field with a brick wall and lined them up. In front of the brick wall were six dummies with targets drawn on them - the bullseye being in the center of the chest. Where they were standing, there was a few tables set up each with a box of ammo sitting by it and a handgun on top waiting to be used.
"Everyone is going to have a shot at their target until their clip runs out. There's enough ammo for everyone. Take your time and don't forget the safety. One person fires at one target at all times. Questions?"
Re: gun basics
Finally, something that he didn't totally suck at. Paco knew his way around handguns -- he had grown up in Texas after all. He was a little slower loading the weapon than he'd like, but there are some things about his new arm that he's still getting used to.
He was a pretty decent shot, but obviously no professional.
Re: gun basics
"Still adjusting to the arm?"
Re: gun basics
Re: gun basics
Since the lessons had been decidedly less physical than the rest of the training, he had been fighting to keep himself from getting too impatient. He had managed - barely.
It was a bit of a relief to be able to step up to take his turn with the practice dummy, but he still took the time and effort to do things properly. As a result, he was a little surprised to find that he actually was doing a little better now than he had in the past.
Re: gun basics
"You're doing good. Keep it up. Not your first time, right?"
no subject
"Aye, it's not. I could still use a wee bit of practice, though."
Swords!
He pulled his flamberge from its sheath, a wicked-looking blade that was too big for the average human to handle, and demonstrated, making sure to keep the edge well away from the students. Resheathing it, he backed up so that they had more room and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Go. I'll be stepping in when needed."
Re: Swords!
She readied the wooden blade in her two hands as she faced her opponent. (Which is more a broadword or bastard sword style as opposed to the fencing icon.)
