Thrill Ride [Open]

Today was different. Today wasn't about exploring the ship, keeping in shape, or trying to learn more about the Ohm. No, today was about indulging in one of her favorite pastimes - racing through the canyons outside Crevasse City on her classic JR-4 swoop. The fate of Alderaan and the upcoming battle against the Ohm had been weighing heavily on Reyna of late, and she felt in dire need of a distraction.

So it was that she found herself in one of the Sensoriums using her memories of home to conjure up the appropriate terrain, her swoop, and an attractive racing outfit to temporarily replace her plantsuit. Once everything was ready Reyna pulled on her helmet and mounted the swoop. She revved the engine a few times to get a feel for the controls, grinning as it all came flooding back to her, then sealed the helmet's visor and took off at breakneck speed for the nearest canyon.

Her heart pounding with excitement and adrenaline surging in her veins, Reyna weaved her way in and out of each gorge and ravine, climbing and diving and twisting and turning with reckless abandon. The knowledge that she was in no actual danger of getting hurt was lost in the thrill of the ride, and the feeling of flirting with disaster only heightened Reyna's enjoyment of it. She came bursting out of one particularly deep canyon at the last second, whooping with joy at the narrowly averted crash.

She ended her run with a quick dash across a nearby lake before circling back to her starting point at a leisurely pace. Leaving the swoop idling beneath her, Reyna took off her helmet and tucked it under her arm, laughing and smiling as she shook her short brown hair away from her face.

[OOC: All are welcome! Feel free to join Reyna for a wild ride on her swoop, race against her, just hang out and chat, etc. Basically whatever sounds like fun that you can convince Reyna to participate in.]

The sensoriums were something that Ba'al had come to find truly fascinating, and useful. Largely in the sense of learning more about others, through observation, than from direct use, of course; he'd rather deal with reality than the virtual, after all, and even situations in which he would have liked to bask in were hardly appropriate for the guise of an average, middle-aged businessman. It was somewhat disappointing.

Still, they were interesting to watch, and this one caught his attention in particular. A track of some kind, it seemed, something he had heard of in his own galaxy but never taken a great deal of interest in. The pilot of this machine, however, did interest him. The first woman he had met upon his arrival, though it had taken a moment to recognise her. She was interesting, it seemed.

"Reyna Kam," he called, as charmingly as he could manage, flashing one of his smiles as he stepped into the field, looking to the woman in question with a nod. "It is good to see you are well," he commented, as he felt was appropriate.

"I suppose that is true," he agreed with a half hearted laugh. Difficult to adjust to... that seemed, perhaps, an appropriate enough way to describe it. It was a nuisance, at its best, and down right infuriating at its worst. "At least it seems that our comfort has been kept in mind. Or, at least, our sanities." It was a partial joke, though the tone might not quite betray that.

"I don't believe there was anything quite like it," he replied, carefully. He knew little of whatever his world might have, as its equivalent, as he found such things dull and pointless. He had better things to do than concern himself with human pass-times. "I cannot say it is something that falls under my particular area of expertise."

Ba'al may have tensed up a little bit at that suggestion. He wasn't cowardly, but he had no interest in purposely placing himself in compromising situations. He hardly considered an idiotic craft such as this to not be dangerous and foolhardy. 'Exhilarating,' she said? She seemed far too amused at this prospect. His speech, when he replied, was slightly more clipped than normal: "I hardly think that is appropriate," he said, quickly. He folded his arms behind his back, still standing taught.

"Of course not," Ba'al snapped at Reyna, his face turning a shade or two bright with anger. To imply that he was weak or afraid, or that a human woman was superior to him in any way... "That would be preposterous." He nearly had to fight his goa'uld indicators down; he was in control enough to not show his true identity, at least.

"I will do it," he grudgingly acceded, eyes narrowed considerably. The nerve of this woman. Perhaps later he would have the mind to consider her nerve almost admirable, but for now it was infuriating.

If Reyna's intention was to convince Ba'al into it, it was surely working. If he had not so quickly lost himself to his ego, he might have considered that option and resisted (to allow himself to be manipulated would be shameful, at best). However, for the time, his guard was down. No longer willing to show any reluctance, he did as he was required, summoning up gear that seemed sensible and appropriate. It was simply unfortunate that he didn't really know what he was doing.

The noise that Ba'al uttered, first, was of pure annoyance. He was becoming aware that he had acted rashly (though he had not been manipulated), but also that he would not tolerate insinuations of weakness. Besides, how bad could it be? He could easily handle anything she could, after all, no matter how idiotic. Perhaps he could work this to his advantage, somehow. At least her compliment served to ease his nerves to an extent. He gave something of a sly smile, and nodded his head, "Of course." He took pride in his appearance, after all.

Unfortunately, it still took a few seconds for him to relax enough to mount the device. He knew this was foolish. He closed his own visor, and held on.

Lurching was certainly something. Ba'al kept his grip relatively tight, but not tight enough that it might show any weakness, on his part. Thus far, it wasn't so bad that he couldn't handle it - he found it completely foolish, but he would not be a good leader were he not capable of dealing with these sorts of things. Admittedly, however... he did admire this, to an extent. While he could not quite see the novelty in the sport itself, the detail - if nothing else - was painstaking. Humans were interesting enough, in that regard.
