Tea for Two [Closed]

There was tea on the low table and the two small cups had been steaming for quite awhile, their contents made from the glop she had brought with her, along with the set of spice cakes, and other unremarkable fare from Obi-Wan's Coruscant.  They were things that went well with tea and the flavor was complimentary to all the food.  Arha was in the more traditional of her Jed-Eye outfits, the colors that matched Obi-Wan's own.

Waiting was easy to do and she was patient.

She had chosen a spot where Coruscant's cityscape most fascinated her--that of the main place where shuttles and ships landed--and the late rust and wine of the sunset was ablaze.  It would hold for several more minutes before dissolving into night.  Such was a pleasant thing.  Arha was not sure that she would ever get to see the real Coruscant.  This, in itself, was a thing that was a bit saddening.

One could not ever truly have all things.

She carefully blew across her steaming mug and contemplated the traffic patterns thoughtfully.

Obi-Wan was not in a rush. He walked into the sensorium as if he had all the time in the world. Indeed, didn't he? It seemed that the days slipped by them all, each more frantic than the last, blurring until they were each unrecognizable from the last. Meditation was a struggle to maintain when all the world shifted around you— how did one ground oneself in a foundation of gelatin?

She was looking out the window, and so Obi-Wan sat and took his mug without disturbing her. Something about the curved profile of her face was painfully lovely. It made Obi-Wan frown as he took a sip of his tea.

"We've been anything but orthodox," he began, awkwardly, "In more ways than one, you must agree."

"I didn't mean it that way," he replied softly, almost admonishing, but he blanched behind that facade at her attentiveness. Those beautiful eyes, so bright, remained as arresting as ever— and as intense.

He set his own down, after a moment and the silence stretched, "I think...it might be time to let go. It won't be a proper trial, but— no, well. It hardly matters, does it?"

"You remember that I told you, when you were ready to become a Knight, I would no longer be your Master," He said it deliberately; it was not a question, "Every Jedi must pass a trial to become a Knight: even in the most chaotic of times, there are the trials. Be mindful of your emotions, my Padawan, for this will not be easy."

Obi-Wan hesitated, remembering his own trial. The Trial of Skill was what the Force had given him, and if he'd passed it, it had been too little, too late. Oh, Qui-Gon...

"It will change you."

He smiled— he had to. These trials could mean his death, or hers, and no matter what they were, they would be terrible, heartclenching things.

"I am already proud of you," He replied, and could do nothing to stop the smile, "No lesson, once learned, is meaningless. I want you to take some time, when you can, to yourself. Meditate and focus on the trials ahead. Perhaps a little rest? I know how you get."

"The time is coming soon when I will have no authority to stop you," He admonished, "Don't work yourself into exhaustion simply because you're not ready to sleep."
