Happiness Is a Warm Gun [Tag, Kyle & Tycho, Open]
New Canton training grounds. It was a decent camp, full of find memories of Independent soldiers going through basic training as the War for Independence kicked off. Gwen had spent a good deal of time stomping and marching over every inch of the camp from the mountains off in the distance to along the river bank to the east of the barracks. The place she had picked for the testing of explosives was where her cavalry unit had tested our their tanks, their skiffs, their mortars, and pretty much everything they had ever used to go boom with. It gave the red head a giddy feeling as she wheeled the red sorrel horse around for another run at the targets she had asked Stacy to supply at the ends. A small sprint for the animal, yes, but the challenge was getting the required number of shots off in the target zone before hitting a certain mark.
Gwen was really going to have to do this more often.
Wheeling the horse back around she urged the mare forward bringing up her g-36 rifle to her shoulder popping off two rounds as she hit the first mark. Three more as the second passed, and a final try as the horse came within distance of the last. Carefully the red head pulled back on the reins while the horse chomped at the bit in her mouth, encouraging her to move over to the target. That was when Gwen scowled- shy on the last shot of hitting inside the zone. The others were sound enough for a kill shot, but that last one? She was going to have to try it again. Giving her chrono a glance she figured there was enough time for one more round before Kyle or Tycho were to show up. With a hoot and a hollar the red head wheeled the horse back around grinning like a fool. Yep- one more round.

The scope? Was nice. Placing the butt of the stock against her shoulder she studied the holes that Kyle had placed within the target giving a soft sound of approval. It didn't take the woman long before she was shooting off rounds herself marking them close to what Kyle had done. Of course Gwen couldn't help but give an exasperated sigh once she had lowered the rifle. "I missed." Her intentions were to duplicate what he had done, blast within a blast, but alas that just wasn't meant to be this go around. "I like it a whole lot better though. The weight is a little more of what I was used t' lugging around with my g-36."

Still smirking he plucked one off the bandoleer, and flipped the trigger. Letting it cook off for two seconds he threw it towards one of the targets. With a clank it attached and then detonated throwing soil, grass, and debris from the target all over. "What do you think?"

"So you just toss'em and they stick like that? How? What's it filled with? Any certain explosives? Can they be rigged to go off later than that? What about to go off together?" Why yes the woman was quite intrigued!

Okay maybe it was a little over Gwen's head, but she listened intently. There hadn't been that many slippery fingers in her unit after they got out of basic. Anyone with the perchance to drop a grenade in the middle of a squadron was out.
Motioning Kyle over to a table she had set up that was in the shade the red head carefully reached down and picked up a slender disc that was the size of a nickle. "It kinda has the same kick as one of these little babies. This right here is what they call a Griswold. Pressure sensitive, so it made right to place them on the ground in the open once they were painted a neutral shade that blended in with the ground." Glancing up at Kyle she gave him a wry grin. "When we were on St. Albans the Alliance found a way to put these in different fruits, mostly apples, before setting them. Take a bite outta one of them spoiled things and you'd lose more than just a hand." It was better to lose an arm than the majority of your upper chest when the thing went off.

There are some things that can disturb even a Jedi Masters calm. To Kyle it didn't mean a lose of control. It meant he was still human.

"Simple little ditty. Works well for quick fixes like the flash-bangs. Toss a couple of these babies up in the air and the heat seekers tended to leave us alone." Handing one of the round weapons over to Kyle, she motioned to the pin at the top. "Standard pull and toss. You have less than seven seconds to get the thing out and away else you might just lose a little more than your arm."

On one count the grenade hit the ground, exploding in a flash of dirt and smoke. Red flame filled the void in the center of the explosion taking out a chunk of the 'ground' that could have easily wiped out five to ten men depending on how close their range was. Shrapnel, if it had been in it, could have easily taken out even them from where they were standing. It was crude. It was efficient. "They come in different grades, depending on the strength and what you are taking out. This is more efficient with ground infantry. Armored vehicles need stronger projectiles or mines to take apart their transmissions and so forth."
Oh Gwen knew that look well. It had been one she had developed the last few years of the War having worked it well across many an officers face. Gwen crossed her arms and glanced sidelong at Kyle, brow quirking slightly. "Crude compared t' what you probably are used to. Tycho was rather surprised we still used nukes."

At the Academy they'd gone through almost all of them. Planetary bombardment, Seismic devices, super gravity fields, and then later on came the Death Stars. Oh yes his galaxy was so civilized and advanced.

Looking back to Kyle the Browncoat held out one of the pistols (http://kitsune-studios.com/MenWithoutWorlds/malsgun_1280.jpg) she carried toward him. "Now this you might like. Standard issue for most Independent officers. It's a six shooter, can take different ordinance like tracers, flares, and high velocity rounds." These were her pride and joys. She had both since the beginning of the War and nothing was going to take them away. If she only had her rifle the woman would have been set. "Good in a pinch and can pack a hell of a punch."

"Alderaan. The Empire destroyed it. The whole planet. Billions all of them innocent. No one had weapons they were a planet of diplomats." He left out that it was also Tycho's homeworld. Kyle was hoping Gwen would take the confession as it was intended. As a fellow soldier who knew the horrors that a ruthless enemy could deliver.
"It's a good weapon. I see why you are so attached to it," he said as he handed the pistol back.
