Turning a new page

It was a fine day (simulated though it was) and anyone in the City would be treated to a formerly rare sight. Cassie Lang walked along the cracked and damaged streets and surveyed some of the ruined buildings. She had a feeling she'd be asked to help move the larger chunks of rubble eventually. Best to size them up now.

She hugged her back tightly for a moment before letting go. Kate still kept a hand on her shoulder.

"I know how hard it is to let go. I'm sure your dad would want you to live your life. Bet he'd be proud of how brave you are."

"I'm sure he is," Just like Kate hoped her mom was proud of her. She reached over to hug Cassie again, rubbing her hand over her friend's back reassuringly.

"You're welcome. You know I'm always here for you, Giant Girl."

"Cassie!" She laughed and poked her gently. "Fine, see if I text you now."

"You suck, seriously." She even stuck her tongue out for a moment. She knew she was teasing, but felt like huffing a little about it.

"Yeah I do. And good." She reached over to do an one arm hug again. "You know what we need? Been too long since we did a movie or tv night, you know? Hang out and watch stuff."
