Turning a new page

It was a fine day (simulated though it was) and anyone in the City would be treated to a formerly rare sight. Cassie Lang walked along the cracked and damaged streets and surveyed some of the ruined buildings. She had a feeling she'd be asked to help move the larger chunks of rubble eventually. Best to size them up now.

He nodded. He'd fought a Force phantom of his mother before, and knew his father and Jacen had fought phantoms of each other, too. "So who tore up the area -- the nightmares or the dreamers?"

He gave a low, slow whistle. "How does that even work?"

"You think it was magic?" he frowned.

He shrugged. "Some people think we use magic, but all of it's the Force -- or some tricks and wires."

"Yeah," he said, looking critically at her. "Why?"

He stared at her. The aim of this was to make her feel awkward and explain why she didn't want to keep talking about the Force. It was probably the laziest interrogation technique anyone had ever taught him, but, well, it seemed appropriate.

That wasn't an answer he'd been expecting. "What?"

He laughed. Everyone and their monkey-lizard had seen some holodrama about the Rebellion. The story was retold so often that his parents had snuck through planetary customs pretending to be their own impersonators. "You take your holodramas way too seriously."

He shrugged his shoulders. Half the galaxy looked at him weird. "Ben Skywalker," he said, shaking firmly.

"Let me guess: you've met my dad."

He grinned. "And here I thought he'd made friends with the whole ship."

He groaned. "Tell me about it."

"Most of them were just ordinary people."
