Superficial Gossip [Open]

So, what had she accomplished lately?

Miku sat on one of the fleshy, fatty couches on the observation deck, thinking about that subject. She was dressed in her plantsuit and a miniskirt (for modesty's sake), having finally run out of clothing that she'd gotten from... someone.

Somewhere.

Who had that kind person been? She'd have to find them and thank them, and though Miku tried hard to bring their face, voice, or name to mind, it was as though she were trying to think through vanilla pudding. Well, someday, they'd see each other again.

But, anyway, what had she accomplished? Miku leaned forward in her seat, her chin in her hands, and looked out the window. She was slowly getting past her fear of people, so that was good. She'd made a new friend in Kara, over miniskirts. She was ever-so-slowly learning to control her abilities. Then there was Steve, of course. Miku laughed to herself and covered her eyes.

Was it possible to be embarrassed just thinking about someone? Apparently, the answer was yes.

Still, there were things she had been slacking in. It'd been ages since she'd cleaned something that wasn't virtual (not including her room, of course. She'd even cleaned the empty side!), and if she didn't start practicing her developing soon, then she'd certainly forget how to. Miku sighed, threw herself backwards against the couch, and looked at the ceiling.

"I need more things to do, I think," she murmured to herself. "Definitely, without a doubt." But what? And with who?

Tycho entered the observation deck planing to spend some quiet time alone. He didn't notice the girl at first, until he heard her say something, softly enough he couldn't understand what it was. "Oh, pardon me," he said, turning to face her. "I didn't realize anyone else was in here."

"Oh, no no no," Tycho quickly held up his hands. "You're not bothering me. I just came here for ... a change of scenery I guess." He smiled lopsidedly at the girl, before extending his hand to shake. "I don't beleive we've met. I'm Tycho Celchu."

Tycho wasn't familiar with 'san' but he assumed it must be some kind of honorific from where she was from- he wasn't wrong. "It's a pleasure, Miss Hinasaki," he agreed. His handshake was firmer than hers, but he made sure to be gentle as well.

He glanced around the lounge. "It's quite a view, isn't it," he said, indicating the Bleed.

Cissie had been wondering around for quite a while. Mostly it was just looking for anyone she knew, but she wouldn't say no to seeing someone new. She was bored, and the med bay just didn't fit the entertaining quota she needed to meet.

She hoped the Obs deck would. After all there were always people running around there.

When she spotted the girl on the couch, she just watched for a moment. She knew the way she was sitting. She was thinking about someone she liked. Cissie got that look all the time when she thought of Bart. Then she heard her speak and smiled.

"So I'm not the only one who's bored out of her mind. We should start a club."

"Feeling useless is my lot in life." She smiled a bit at the bow and nodded her head a bit. "Cissie King, former hero and all around useless girl." She laughed a bit more and then sighed.

"Trust me, the feelings never go away, but sometimes they do lessen."

"Yeah, sitting around never did anyone any good." Luke poked his head around the doorway, smiling at her. "How's it going, Miku?"

"Better than I did before, anyway. Anything's an improvement over that." He straightened, leaning on the door frame. "Mind if I come in and sit for a while? I've been meaning to catch up with you and Steve since all that went down with the Nightmare King."

"It's pretty, in a way, isn't it?" Luke sat across from her, on the unoccupied couch, rather than beside her. "We've got something kind of like this from home, but hyperspace and the Bleed are more different than alike, really. Hyperspace is a little more monochromatic, for one."

"That's what I've heard it called, anyway," Luke said. "I guess this is what the space in between worlds looks like. Seems pretty ominous to me."

He watched it for a moment, then looked back at Miku. Since she'd started seeing Steve, Luke meant to make it a point to treat her as he'd treat any girlfriend of Ben's. Politely, and like she was already part of the family.

"You've started forgetting things too?"

"I hope so. Memory loss seems to be a problem right about now." He bit his lip, thinking about what could have brought this on, and shrugged after a moment. Just as with his own instances of it, he had no explanation beyond the superficial. "It's probably just stress. We went through a lot, and it's difficult sometimes for the mind to come up with ways to cope that aren't just as disruptive."

It wasn't a satisfying explanation, but it was the best Luke could come up with.

"That sounds like a fine piece of wisdom," Luke said, nodding his head in agreement. "If we keep looking hard for it, it'll just keep escaping us. It's best to just relax and let the mind go where it will; sometimes, solutions come easier to us when we're calm, at peace."

Luke was quiet a moment, then smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry. I've been a teacher too long, it slips out sometimes."
