A family (and friends) Picnic! [Open to kidlets + Vivio/Fate]

This was something that Nanoha and Fate had made a promise - it felt like months ago - to do once the Nightmare King had been defeated: The two of them and Vivio would have a nice family picnic with homemade food, just like they would back home. Of course, Nanoha had extended the invitation to the other children on the ship - not only did she want Vivio's friends to feel included, but she felt slightly responsible for all of them in her own way, and thought that they could all use a boost in morale after the trials they'd gone through.

So, Nanoha had arrived in the Sensorium long before the time had come, turning the area into a replica of her kitchen back home, and had gotten to work cooking. She'd always liked to cook; not only did it smell wonderful but it was therapeutic and relaxing in its own way. Eventually, she had quite the assortment of neatly-packed bento - rice, chicken, some dried nori seaweed and even some tempura and salmon. All in all, it was just like she'd learn to make growing up, and more than enough to feed their little gathering.

Once she'd made and wrapped the bento in the cloth that they'd later use as a tablecloth, she changed the location to a wide, rolling meadow with short grass, studded with trees to provide shade for the bright, warm sun overhead.

Nanoha smiled to herself, waiting to see who'd arrive first.

One of the first to arrive was Vivio. She'd already made the call to the other kids and gotten some of them to join - one of them being Fletcher, which made her happy. Entering the sensoriums, she noticed Nanoha already there and waved at her.

"Nanoha-mama! Hi!" Vivio called out, racing in. "I'm not late, am I?"

Fate walked into the Sensoriums, taking in the surroundings with a bright smile. She had been looking forward to this, ever since her and Nanoha had first talked about it. To have a chance to just relax with her family, and now the other children Vivio had met on the ship... this was just what Fate needed. Sleeping together was nice, but this was totally different.

After a quick scan of the area, Fate spotted Nanoha, and walked over to her. "Need help with anything?"

Fletcher walked into the Sensoriums, a bit hesitant. He still didn't know the other children here very well. He wanted to get to know them, but he felt a little awkward about it. They were already such good friends, after all; he almost felt like he was intruding.

But he'd been invited, so he went.

She wanted to not believe she was doing this, but Alessa simply didn't bother questioning her presence around the kidlets. She looked their age and certainly could keep the human guise, but obviously she was very off for demon pretending she was human.

In any case she was here, and in her arms was a small basket. She looked up, trying to look both fierce and efficient. "I brought deviled eggs and some sandwiches too," she said, "to share. Also, some bread and honey."

She still had the limp, but at least now she didn't need the cane anymore. She looked over in Nanoha's direction. "I'm glad to see you and yours outlasted the King. You fought well out there."

A big smile formed on Vivio's face seeing Fletcher enter. Waving down her friend, she ran up to him, chipper as ever.

"Fletcher! You came! I'm so glad!" Vivio said. She was so glad to see him in any way.

Truth be told, she had been worried about him after the whole Nightmare King incident and felt bad that she wasn't there to watch out for him, too.

Fletcher shifted his weight from one leg to the other, feeling awkward, but he smiled a shy smile at Vivio. "Hi... Well, you invited me..."

He was glad everyone was okay, too. Spending time with people, even if he barely knew them, seemed like a good idea after almost having been killed.

"Eheheh... y-yeah, I did, didn't I?" Vivio said, smiling awkwardly. She was feeling... nervous? Perhaps. Didn't feel that way before.

In either case, she extended her hand, trying to get rid of that odd feeling. "C'mon, let's join the others, okay?"
greennotgold: (Shy but happy)

[personal profile] greennotgold 2010-03-21 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hesitantly, he took her hand and nodded. "Um-- sure. Thanks, Vivio."

Alessa was fairly certain she looked out of place there (where DID she seem in place but by herself?), but she supposed that was what happened when she didn't completely loathe all of the people on the crew. Nanoha was tolerable, at least.

"I am unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine," Alessa said. "This will be new for me. Well, that and the picnic setting."
greennotgold: (Here you go!)

[personal profile] greennotgold 2010-03-21 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
He nodded to her, smiling a little. "It's very nice to meet you, Ms. Nanoha. Um, you're Vivio's mother, right?"

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll be sure to sample it," Alessa said. "I'm not very used to eating foods, but I guess no harm can come of it."

Sherry hesitated outside the sensorium door. She'd already told Vivio she'd go, but...

Well, she just wasn't sure how much of a good idea that was. Not that she didn't want to be friends with Vivio, but she'd only been on a picnic once before. Sherry took off her headband and pushed her fingers through her hair before sliding it back on again. This sort of thing made her nervous.

Well, maybe she'd just stay out here a little longer.

Not if her father had anything to say about it. He looked down at Sherry as she seemed to hem and haw outside the door.

"Something wrong?"

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Guiltily, Sherry jumped slightly, and wrinkled her nose at her father.

"N...no?" Well, that wasn't a lie, anyway. Nothing was wrong! She was just... not sure if this was a very good idea. And the idea of making deeper bonds with people outside her usual sphere worried her.
greennotgold: (Awwww)

[personal profile] greennotgold 2010-03-21 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I'm sorry..." Fletcher couldn't help the apprehension he felt just then. Where he was from, kids his age just didn't call adults by their first names, let alone without an honorific. If it was what she wanted him to do, though...

"Um, do you need any help?"

Leon smiled a little, and smoothed out a bit of Sherry's hair.

"Then why don't we go inside?"

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2010-03-22 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sherry hesitated again, and smiled at Leon nervously, "Okay." At least it was nice of her dad to come along; she knew how much he didn't like using the sensoriums (unless, apparently, it was for work/to find weapons from movies), after all.

She opened the door to the sensorium room that they were using and stepped inside, tugging her father in along after her. Under her breath, Sherry murmured, "Here we go..."
