No rest for the weary [Open]
Samus had been through hell and back. Several times by now, actually. That never seemed to slow the hunter down, though. There was always work to be done. When Samus got knocked down, she had to pick up and keep going.
It just so happened that the last thing to (literally) knock her down was an anti-tank rocket. Fortunately, she had a full suit of powered armor to protect (mostly) her. Unfortunately, it kind of did some serious damage. Nothing she wasn't able to fix, she just needed time do do so.
The hunter patched her injuries up well enough and hauled herself down to the engineering department, picking out a spot in special weapons to start on the tedious task of restoring her armor.

He casts a glance over at Samus' work absently, and raises an eyebrow.
"What'd you do?"

She works as she talks. Something snaps. She grumbles under her breath and exchanges one tool for another. She goes on though, "Apparently one of the crew dreams of anti-tank weaponry. Who knew."
It'd explain the helluva lot of scrapes and bruises she didn't have when they last parted.

"Good luck."

physics breakingabilities, Chief might get the sense of how truly alien her armor really is.But Samus isn't too concerned with keeping secrets at the moment. She needs to get work done. She offers a shrug and a half exasperated sigh to Chief, "I'll fix it. I just need... time. But thanks."
She had no reason to be rude...

John nods once, then returns his attention to his own suit. This is about the extent of his chattiness.
"We'll need to file a mission report," he says, remembering.

oh you're not getting away that easy, mama bird.
The last time he'd looked away, she'd disappeared.
Really, it was only a theory, keeping up with her. The hunter seemed not at all deterred by her own injuries and when the long haul to engineering was done, he had to sit. Being hurt was hard.
Re: oh you're not getting away that easy, mama bird.
"You should be in the medbay still."

"Do I hafta?" He asked softly, pulling his knees up under his chin, "I wanna stay where you are."

Samus was too tired to fight right now. Plus this did give her the opportunity to keep an eye on him...
"Alright," she told him, "But be careful."
There are a lot of dangerous things hanging around in special weapons...
no subject
Of course, meaning to be careful couldn't keep his eyes open. He nodded, head seeming so heavy, weighed down by his eyelids. It wouldn't hurt to close them for a moment....and who would mind if he just leaned his head against the discarded pile of rags in the corner? No one, that's who.
In a few minutes, he was asleep, half-covered by the poorly folded remnants of some untidied blueprint and snoring. What? He was being careful!

"So. Should I ask about what kinda crap I missed, or will it just make me have to hunt down Grif so I can beat a head against something?"
no subject
Samus did not sound very pleased about that at all.

"...Yeah, I think I need more details. What'd he do this time?"
no subject
"Ended up shooting at the wrong person in a fight in the city. Huge mess. Could've been prevented if he had just worn his damn comm ring."

She instinctively pinched her left arm, the muscles were still hurting there, and she walked over to the bounty hunter and peeked at the work in progress.
"Wow, looks like the war wasn't too good for that suit of yours."
no subject
She didn't look up from her work, "It's been through worse."
no subject
"Do you mind if I look?"
no subject
way overprotectivevery secretive when it came to her suit. It wasn't exactly... human made. Glances at its inner workings tended to raise more questions than Samus was comfortable answering."I do actually," she said plainly, "I've always done the maintenance myself."
no subject
"Figures. Gotta keep that thing top secret huh?" Lash let out an annoyed sigh before looking around at everything else. There was still a lot of equipment she hadn't seen in Stacy, and now that she had a much more clear mind after getting some sleep, she delicately took out a laser tool and pushed it on.
"Oooh. I wish we had these back at home," she told to no one in particular (but Samus was there alone so, hi semi-passive aggressive tone), "it would have been much easier to make repairs on my Neotank, tee hee."

Today, though, he was looking for a source of palladium, and having been unsuccessful in the city he turned his attentions to the more technical parts of the ship- in the suit to save time. The HUD could inform him of the presence of the materials he needed a hell of a lot quicker than his eyes could, after all.

Her head poked up from her work. She met the newest occupant of special weapons with a wary (but still inquisitive) look.
no subject
Cute, and some kind of techie.
"I'm sorry, I didn't realise someone was working in here," he offered politely, the suit filtering his voice into neutrality- and then as a courtesy, he flipped up the faceplate. Much fairer to speak with someone face to face. "I was looking for something."
no subject
"It's fine," she offered back, "I don't believe I've seen you before."
Because she really would have remembered the armor.
