The Challenge From Beyond - Regroup

You're the ones who are good enough (or lucky) enough to be close to Escherville. You've had the good fortune to be scooped up and now you need to regroup and get ready to take on the Nightmare King himself. Time to reorganize and gear up as best you can with what you've got. The Nightmare King isn't going to wait for you.

Get moving.

((OOC: This is for the various groups/peoples who will be fighting the Nightmare King directly or assisting in that endeavor. If your character was in one of the Challenge from Beyond Groups, tag them in here! Feel free to do some tagging back and forth and enjoy yourselves. Please get tagged in by Tuesday night, March 2nd though, so we can get the Final Fight properly organized. ))

That presence. It was that familiar person that brought Alessa back to where Captain Kirk was sitting. It was nothing against him: she simply didn't think much of cooling her heels here where she could be of more use somewhere else. Then again, the longer she was here, the more power she got from her Silent Hill. This would help once they forayed into Escherville.

"Seer. I was wondering when you would show up. Is there any good news for us involving the King?"

"Well, I was certain far more would be driven insane by the nightmares. I suppose it is all well and good that they did not."

...That's probably not the kinda good news you were looking for, Alessa, but it's all he's got.

Alessa stared at him a moment. "I assure you, the crew are made of stronger mettle than you realize. Certainly they're slipshod and haphazard and painfully lucky most of the time, but what they are able to do once the bickering stops is quite remarkable."

She shrugged. "How is it that you can appear so plainly now?'

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I can see that," Alessa said, rolling her eyes. "But if that could have happened before, it would have. How did it happen, I mean?"

"I needed to remain on the psychic plane in order to hold back the daemon long enough for the crew to prepare. When I sensed that it had made its move, I sent out a call to several crew members to come and retrieve me."

"Made its move," Alessa repeated. "So you mean to say something changed that made it possible for the Nightmare King to be freed, or at least enough so that he could start influencing the ship. Something to do with the seal then. Did someone tamper with it? It couldn't have just deteriorated on its own."

"I am only human," he says, "and despite being the vessel for his world's deity, so is Aang. There was only so long we could hold the beast back."

It had been Aang who slipped first, but Cargn wasn't about to place blame on a child who had to contend with the power of a dark god.

"Besides, the original seals were not perfect, and would have deteriorated in time anyway, even if the Nightmare King hadn't attempted to free itself."

"Aang," Alessa said. The last piece of the puzzle. So the Seer had not been alone in his attempt to keep the Nightmare King at bay. Aang would be a person that Alessa would speak to next: she hadn't forgotten what Nanoha had said to her before. The answers she sought still remained unanswered, so perhaps this Aang would have the key.

"I thought that might happen, but there's always a catalyst," Alessa answered. "The King had only a taste of freedom, but he did something to widen his influence. I assume then that there will be a party to save this Aang, right? For the good of the ship and all of that?"

"I am certain of this. Even if I were against this idea, I am sure some of the crew would go."

"Of course, considering his necessity in coming battles, I believe it is prudent to make such an attempt anyway."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2010-03-02 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course we would," Alessa said. "He is detrimental in helping to defeat the Nightmare King. You'll have to forgive me if I'm not more heartfelt: I don't know this person."

One doubted Alessa could ever have an emotion that was anything like "heartfelt."

"Coming battles," Alessa said. "And what would those entail then?"

[identity profile] daemonomicon.livejournal.com 2010-03-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
There is a slight smirk, rather odd on the eyeless, scar-ridden face.

"Now that would be telling. Another time, perhaps. There are more pressing things to deal with."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2010-03-03 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Now that's just rude," Alessa sniffed, but she was also satisfied with that answer too. It's the kind of thing she would have said anyway.

"I suppose you're right anyway. I still owe that Nightmare King for making me see those stupid images."
