You've had the good fortune to be scooped up and now you need to regroup and get ready to take on the Nightmare King himself. Time to reorganize and gear up as best you can with what you've got. The Nightmare King isn't going to wait for you.

"Centuries before I was born, Chthon's physical presence in my world was limited. He was trapped in a mountain, the same mountain where my mother stumbled across. When she gave birth to me, Chthon recognized my potential and marked me so that I would suit his desires in a human host, one who could provide him an escape. As I grew older there were several times he robbed me of my powers in the hopes that I would become an accomplished witch and so better channel his powers. Finally, he lured me and took possession of my body, trapping my soul inside that of a doll. It was only through the help of my friends and my father's sacrifice that our bodies were switched. I regained my own and he was locked inside the doll, then destroyed in an avalanche."

"That's a very involved story," Alessa observed, "though not uncommon when it comes to gods in the first place. When I felt yours in the dream, I knew that it would have been fairly troublesome. Luckily, there was a deus ex machina available. But now that its all done with, my question to you is this: are you going to be ready when you go to fight the Nightmare King?"

She wanted to learn more about Wanda's story, but there was little time to wait. In any case, Alessa was asking this question for a reason. "What will you be able to do?"

"...Deus ex machina? Not one that I am aware of. As for what I am capable of, I have been trained. I am a capable witch. I have certain control over the elements and, as you have seen, my will is..." Sometimes lacking. "Resilient."

Alessa sighed. "Even I know that was no ordinary shield. Something that happens to be there at a time needed most is usually called an act of god. You can see the irony in that, I imagine."

Alessa nodded. "If I were to make a wager, I would say you are probably the strongest of our group besides myself. In that case, I think it would be a good idea that we team up for the next part of this battle. What do you say?"
