Luckily for Jamie, Blue Ranger's master doesn't want to hurt him yet. Neither vassal nor master seem to realize what they've done, though---amusingly, they think Blue Ranger's witty banter has him in a stupor. Laughing, the blue-clad villain flips behind Jamie and attempts to pin his arms.

"Never did what? Don't tell me you don't remember. The future, the past, so many wondrous sights---but under their surface, just as hopeless as the rest of the universe."

There's a moment where Jamie realizes what's happening, and tries to dart away - but it's too little, too late. His arms are well and truly pinned.

He wriggles furiously, trying to free himself. The words the Blue Ranger speaks echo in his ears, mocking, taunting. Slowly at first, memories begin to come back, in no real order. A wheel in space, where people live. A monastery in Tibet. The sunken civilization of Atlantis. The Moon. Wondrous sights indeed. But are they as hopeless as the other man is making it sound?

For a moment, it feels as if they are. Bad things happened there. Terrible things. People died. But people survived, too. Things that would have been catastrophic were prevented, saving even more lives. The Doctor helped with that. Jamie helped with that.

"I remember," he says softly. The memories are coming faster now, the fog blocking his mind lifting. The illusion of the glens is fading, replaced with Stacy's walls. Once he can get free, he knows he'll be able to see who it is he's truly fighting. But getting free is the tricky part. He juts his chin out defiantly.

"Ye are wrong, ye know. There is always hope."

With a sudden, violent motion, he jerks his head back, doing his level best to crack his skull against the Blue Ranger's. It's going to hurt Jamie more than it'll hurt the evil Ranger, probably. But it's unexpected enough that Jamie might be able to use it to break free.

"Aargh!"

The evil Ranger is shocked, yes. Shocked enough to stumble backward, releasing Jamie. But he grins evilly under the helmet, knowing that this boy's ridiculous blue thing wasn't kind to an ordinary human skull upon collision from the outside.

"Oh dear. I think there's a few loose screws in someone's head. Let me fix that for you," the Ranger croons, ducking into a fighting pose. He fights the feeling that something is wrong.

Inside, the King scowls, struggling to tighten the shadow-locks on Ranger's mind. Jamie's headbutt and foolish words of hope have reached his captive, causing Billy to start to stir in his cage. The King has time before the boy is anywhere near strong enough to break free from the shadows' control, but it's best to quash this insubordination before it begins.

Jamie is remarkably hard-headed, and he wasn't in a good position to use full force on the maneuver. Luckily this means he hasn't badly hurt himself. Still, he definitely felt that blow.

"Ooh!" As he is released, he stumbles for a moment, putting a hand to his head. There's already the beginnings of what promises to be a wicked headache there - but the last of the nightmare has been shattered utterly, and Jamie feels like himself again.

Not surprisingly, then, the comment about loose screws irritates him. He's about to retort hotly when he finally gets a good look at his opponent. He recognizes the outfit - Billy showed it to him once in the TARDIS simulation Jamie had created in the Sensoriums. And for the second time this fight, Jamie finds himself a bit stunned. This time, however, he's able to react a little bit quicker.

"Billy - ye have to fight this. It's the Nightmare King doing this to ye!"

Alas, Jamie has no idea just how deep of a hold the Nightmare King has on his friend.

"You say that as though you expect me to be outraged," Blue Ranger retorts. "I'm indebted to my master's assistance. He's far more than you will ever be---and don't call me Billy!!"

With a wicked scowl concealed beneath the mouthpiece, Blue Ranger withdraws the Blade Blaster and shifts it into gun mode, aiming directly at Jamie.

Deep within, Billy hears Jamie's plea and awakens. A shadow stands in the center of his mind, pulling chains as though he were a puppetmaster manipulating wooden limbs. And if the thoughts floating around in this space are any indication, he's aiming for Jamie. That's wrong, Billy thinks. This---he is going to kill Jamie if he doesn't do something now!

Luckily for Billy, one of the chains is long, slipping through the shadow's hand and ending near Billy's position on the floor. Mustering his strength, Billy pulls---

---and the Ranger's aim veers off course, the shot harmlessly hitting a nearby wall. Reluctantly diverting more of his energy toward restraining the weak human, the Ranger snarls and charges at Jamie again.

Jamie's danger sense should have gone off at that - but it didn't. He's not familiar with the Blade Blaster, so it's not until the gun actually starts to fire that he realizes that he's in trouble. He tries to dive out of the way. If the aim wasn't off, he would have been hit. As it is, he lands on his bad leg wrong, aggravating the already existing injury.

"Arrgh!"

He doesn't have the luxury of wondering why he didn't realize he was about to be shot. Instead, he has to scramble to try and get himself into a defensive position of some sort as Bi..as the Blue Ranger charges.

As he runs, Blue Ranger flicks a wrist and shifts the Blade Blaster into sword mode. He swings furiously at Jamie, propelled by his master's anger, but the approach is slower than it should be. Jamie has time to dodge if he can.

Finish him, the master commands from within. He's trying, he really is, but the struggling human in his mind is a bother. Unaware that he's growling the words aloud as he slows after the charge and clutches at his helmet, Blue Ranger mutters "Stop! The King is your rightful savior, because you were betrayed by your friends! They wanted to let your world die!"

No, Jamie, he's not talking to you. Blue Ranger needs to keep Billy under control, but attacking these pathetic crew members and silencing the former owner of this body simultaneously is proving to be a difficult task.

He's able to dodge - but it's harder to do than he would like. He pulls up for a moment afterward to catch his breath, gritting his teeth as he shifts his weight onto his good leg. How many weapons does the Blue Ranger have, anyway? Way too many for Jamie's comfort. He needs to do something, and do something now.

When the evil Ranger clutches at his helmet, he has the choice of either continuing to try and talk him down or attacking. Jamie sees the distraction the internal struggle provides and opts to try the attack.

With a yell, he flings himself at the Blue Ranger. If he can catch him unawares, maybe he can get in a lucky shot and knock the other man out. If not, at least he'll be close enough to try and render the sword/blaster/whatever it is useless.

Trying to talk might have been the smarter of the two plans.

End this, now! come the orders, snapping Blue Ranger out of his stupor. All of that confusion was oriented toward one goal---crouching and using Jamie's momentum to throw the Scot over his shoulder, then spinning around to track the other's progress.

Inside, a boy cries out in anguish. But he is paid no mind.

One moment Jamie is closing with the Blue Ranger, fist cocked and ready to throw what he thinks is going to be a solid punch to the other man's jaw. The next minute he is flying through the air rather spectacularly.

He has a moment to think that maybe flying isn't all it's cracked up to be before his body hits a nearby wall. His hurt leg hits first, and by sheer dumb luck, happens to be exactly where the injury took place before. The already unhappy nerves fire with fresh, sudden pain - too much for him to bear for the moment - and he blacks out.

It may not be for long, but it takes him out of the immediate fight.
