Dealing with Redheads [ Closed ]
After hearing about the incident in the sensoriums from Lafiel, Wedge had called Asuka to his office in the city. And now he waited, pacing up and down the room in thought. He couldn't allow Asuka to go unpunished, not after striking a superior officer. he had made it clear that Rogue Squadron was a military operation and that there would be rules to follow. Now it was up to him to enforce them in some manner. This wasn't going to be easy, if the girl's fiery temper was anything to go by. But he'd dealt with similar pilots in the past, and he felt that he'd be able to get a handle on this one as well. He took a seat as the door chime sounded, picking up one of his datapads.
"Come in."
"Come in."

"Asuka Langley Soryu, reporting."

"I heard a rather unfortunate report about an incident in the Sensoriums earlier today, Flight Officer Soryu. Can you tell me what happened? I just want to make sure the details line up." Not really. He just wanted to see if she would make excuses or find some other way to justify herself.

"Not quite what I expected, Asuka." He turned away from her, clasping his hands behind him for a moment, as if in thought.
"Unfortunately, I'm going to have to rescind your flight status. The only time you're going to be in a cockpit until further notice is directly under my supervision during training. Other than that, you are not to touch a fighter craft, real or simulated." He turned back towards her.
"I am building a military unit here, Miss Soryu. I do not have time to deal with outbursts like this one, simply because you were outsmarted by a more experienced pilot. In a real battle, you will not simply be angry. You will be around to complain that the enemy 'cheated.' What is left of you will be hosed out of the cockpit of your snubfighter, if there is enough of it left to recover."
"We are in a situation where we will be called upon to go into very dangerous and very deadly situations and I need all of my pilots on the same data stream. You, very clearly, are not. Until you can prove to me that you are ready and willing to learn, not only to fly but to learn to work as a member of a team who is able to see her own mistakes and shortcomings and learn from them. The only reason you are not off the roster entirely is because I need every willing hand I've got. If you step out of line again though, rest assured that you will be out of the squadron. Am I clear, Flight Officer Soryu?"

Asuka leaned on his desk staring at him. She was angry. She was frustrated. This wasn't fair. Lafiel got to boss her around, humiliate her and she was the one getting grounded? It had just been one stupid punch! Lafiel would be fine!
"How am I supposed to get better if I can't practice?! I don't care about her or her stupid tactics! No one is going to actually have time in the middle of a dogfight to burn a hole through the stupid bridge and then hijack a battleship!"
no subject
"Yes, Miss Soryu, I can. I am the commanding officer of this squadron and you will respect that fact at least even if you do not respect me. The same goes for all of the officers in this squadron, including Deca-Commander Abriel." His jaw clenched slightly. The young hotheads were always the worst.
"I did not call you here to argue about Deca-Commander Abriel's tactics If you put another toe out of line, you will be gone from this squadron. That is all."
"Dismissed."

Asuka slammed the door on her way out.

He flipped on his comm ring.
"Arha? Jaina? Could you come down to the city? I need to ask you something."

It's only a few minutes before she arrives, wide-eyed at her first trip into the City, "How big is this ship?"
no subject
She didn't bother doing much besides quickly re-braiding her hair and tucking into a messy knot. She arrived in time to hear Jaina's question and smiled.
"About the same size as a small moon, I think," she said, her fingers brushing her lightsaber absently. "But I do not think we have any true estimate on the size yet."

"I have a certain young pilot with an attitude problem. She struck one of her superior officers today. If this were the regular NewRep military, I'd have her on charges. Since it isn't, I need your help. She has the promise of a good pilot, but she needs to learn finesse, control, and most importantly how to rein in her ego and temper. I'm hoping you two can help with this."
no subject
"I know what it's like to get wound up during training," she replies, folding her arms and nodding, "Sure, count me in."

"Thanks for your help. Let me know how things turn out."

An opportunity would present itself, surely.

"And her name is Asuka Langley Soryu. Short, young, bright red hair and a temper to match. It shouldn't be too hard to find her. I wish you luck, because you're going to need it."
