Superfriends

The JLA Watchtower. Hall of Justice.

Or it would be, if it hadn't been destroyed along with the rest of their world. No, this is an uncanny facsimile courtesy of the sensoriums. The room itself is little more than an encircling window that looks out into space, Earth looming below, and an Arthurian table with twelve chairs, seven of which bearing the insignia of its reserved champion.

One of them is already here and sits like he owns this place-- well back in his chair, chin out and arms folded high across his chest.

Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

Superman had wanted it engraved on the table, years earlier when they operated out of a cave in Happy Harbor. Batman had scoffed, but then, he generally did anyway. Only now that his old friend isn't here to give him the 'see? I have good ideas too' face does he genuinely consider it. He had been fighting this war like it was Gotham, like it was his turf, and now he sees the error. He's looking for demons in the wrong place.

So here he sits, enjoying a reprieve from glorified tech support work and waits for his pantheon.

And where Batman is, is it little wonder that his first protege is close behind?

Almost Dick's entire tenure on the Justice League has been as a reservist. Other than the one time he actually led it, that is. He's not sure what to expect when he arrives, but the table and the view aren't exactly it. Even less so when he notes his own symbol at one of the seats. He looks at Bruce, eyebrow raised before going to stand behind the chair. And lean on the back.

Alfred managed to teach SOME people manners, at least.

Indigo hadn't been expecting the Batman to contact her at all. Receiving the message over the comm channels had been quite surprising. Something was obviously up, and while she had no experience with the man, she's seen the results he produces. That alone is probably the main reason she even decides to show up. A smaller reason is pure curiosity. As far as she knew, he funded the Outsiders as a favor to Nightwing, with little interest in how the rest of it was run.

She enters the room and stops well inside the doorway, waiting for a moment before walking up to Batman, staying a polite arm's distance away. "Batman. Nightwing. Good afternoon." Not one for small talk, she hops right to the point, looking the elder man directly in the face. "Why did you call me here?"

For once, Static didn't fly into the room. This was actually important, on the simple grounds that Batman had called, and the only reason Batman would ever want to see him was because it was something important.

"You called?" he said, walking in. He stopped for a second to look around at the Hall; he'd always wanted to be here. Even though it was just a simulation, the impact was still there, like walking into the white house.

"Unexpected." Hey. If Bruce gets to be cryptic, Dick can, too.

"I didn't know that you considered me to be as such." Still, that answer seems to satisfy her. She crosses her arms and backs off a bit.

For here, she seems content to just do her best statue impersonation. Indigo has very little to say to Batman, unless he has something specific for her.

It does get a bit of a smile out of Dick. "Didn't say I wouldn't take it."

And he knows it. Then again, Dick does tend to step up in an emergency, no matter what. And if this doesn't count as an emergency, Dick's not sure what does. "All right, you got me."

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah...can't say I get invited to the Hall of Justice very often. I mean, BL mentioned going there once, but we never actually got to do it." His looking around had come to a single conclusion. "I expected more chairs."

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, see, that makes sense. But what do you do for things like this? Wouldn't you want extra chairs outside the table for all hands meetings?"

Just full of questions, this kid.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"So far. I mean, I've got eighteen people on the team right now, and still plenty of room for chairs. Mind, I don't have a nice Arthurian round table, but folding chairs we've got in spades." He smiled. "I'm actually at a point now where I need to start thinking about breaking into a few smaller teams."

Superboy looks unimpressed, but then he'd been up here for the Christmas Party, and for...lots of things actually. (Like that time his dimensional counterpart popped in and Barda brought him there for medical attention and he died on the meeting table).

This is why he walks into the room, briefly looks around, then flops into Superman's chair and plops his feet up on the table.

One look at Bats has him taking his feet off the table, but he's still leaning back in the chair, looking around.

"You're gonna need more chairs."

There's a lot of them there.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what I said, but no one ever listens to me." Static said, coming up behind him. "How's it goin' man? Haven't seen you in a while."

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Kon spins around in the chair to give Static a very bro-ish high five.

"It's been a roller coaster lately, but I'm okay. How's the Outsiders?"

[identity profile] itsmynamenow.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Terry had been a bit hesitant to show up. It was hard to put his finger on why - he trusted Bruce, with his life, even. It wasn't like the thing with Tim, either, because he knew how Bruce would turn out, and he really didn't seem all that different young as he did old. He couldn't really pinpoint why he was a little nervous of meeting with him. But really, there was a part of him deep down, that knew that no matter if he proved to the universe he was the Batman, Bruce Wayne would always be the one man that still held the title.

But he shoved that little feeling to the back of his mind as he entered the sensorium. And he did so not as Terry McGinnis, but as Batman.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Not dead yet, so that's something. I've been meaning to find you and ask if you wanted to join. Been meaning to ask Bart, Tim and Cassie, too." He paused. "Then again, you look pretty good in that chair.. Maybe I should just leave you to the league." He smiled.

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Kon takes a deep breath.

"I've been thinking about it? But I've been with YJ--and the Titans--forever now. I think it's good you're trying to give everyone that super-family thing to be a part of--but I kinda feel like I've already got mine, y'know?"

He spins around in the chair.

"That and Bats is expecting me to step up and fill boots I have no idea how I'm gonna fill. I've already botched up with the Command Crew a couple times now. If I'm really gonna help--if I'm going to be like Big Blue in place of Big Blue, I gotta work within the command structure as much as possible. That's what he'd do."

He adds, "But that doesn't mean we can't all hang out, anyway."

[identity profile] speedforbrains.livejournal.com 2010-02-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"You're gonna be Superman? Do I get to be the Flash?" Bart zoomed into the Flash chair and spun it around at superspeed. "Can we make Robin Batman too? Or nobecausetherearealreadylikeagajillion Batmans."
