If you keep seeking... [Open]

Somebody's busy in Weapons & Possessions.

Jack's Super Secret Evil Project that he's been slowly working on, with much interruption, for a while now has finally come to fruition. At least, so he hopes. It all depends on what happens right now.

He activates the small, box-shaped device he's holding. It starts clicking softly. Jack grins.

Something's here.

He steps sloooowly further into the room and starts ranging along the stacks. As he approaches the end of one row, the clicking starts picking up.

He laughs.

"Jack," he tells himself, already gloating, "you really are a genius."

There's a form scampering along the roof when he heard the news. Since some of his things were at the top of the area, he lowered himself upside down in front of him on a line of webbing.

And no, it wasn't Spider-man.

"Whatcha doing?" inquired Spidermonkey.

Flipping down to land in front of Jack, one of Spidermonkey's arms scratched his head. "Looks like you were looking for something. Need help? I'm pretty good at scaling places."

"I gotcha. Looking for something. And I'm Spidermonkey, an alien. For reasons stated and all." And Ben let out an "ook ook!" as he rubbed his head. "What with the four arms, tail and webbing."

"But my real name's Ben. You can just call me Ben."

"Roger Wilco," replied Ben as he scampered up the rows nimbly, swinging from side to side until he started to tug at the Shadow of Fear. "It's stuck, gimme a second to untangle it."

Working the net loose with a few deft tugs, he webbed it up and lowered it down gently on a string. "This is it right?"

"Hey no problem. If you need anything else just holler. I'm looking for my stuff up here anyhow." replied Spidermonkey with a salute.

"A genius?" A voice said from behind him. Ahava rounded the stack she'd been half-hidden by and cocked her head to the side, a slight smile pulling at her lips.

"Why's that, Jack?"

Ahava snorted. That didn't sound like a problem waiting to happen at all...

"In what way?" she asked, wandering closer to get a look at what Jack had been looking at.

Even if the name alone hadn't gotten Ahava curious, she'd have asked for more information simply because Jack seemed like he was eager for her to do just that.

"What's a Shen Gong Wu detector?" she asked, managing to keep the amusement out of her voice in favour of curiosity.

"What kinds of useful powers? I'm going to guess it's something you think we'd use, but that doesn't limit it down much."

Ahava didn't know Jack particularly well, but something about his demeanour made her add; "And is anyone going to object to you taking them?"

[identity profile] feelnothinatall.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"So you could find something useful, or something that isn't?" Ahava asked. She thought about that for a moment, then smiled. "Well in that case, why don't we see where it's leading you to?"

If she noticed how quickly Jack answered the second question, Ahava didn't comment on it. She'd wait until she had a look at what these Shen Gong Wu items were first, and then make up her mind.

[It's fine!]

"Everything starts somewhere," Ahava said philosophically. "You can always look into getting it to specialise at a later date. Or who knows? Maybe you'll find something unexpectedly useful?"

She noticed the clicking picking up speed and Ahava paused beside the box. "This one?"
