Maybe I think too much [Open]

Wanda sat before one of the terminals in the media library. She'd come to try and find more information on mystical phenomena and training, after all there were whole new worlds different from her own. The laws had changed, so to speak. Unfortunately whatever she found was too dry for her to focus on. She was used to hands on experience, nothing this esoteric. She sighed and leaned back.

If she were honest with herself, the reason she was having trouble with the reading material wasn't because it was boring (even if it was) or poorly worded. She missed her family. She missed her friends. She missed her home. She even missed her neighbors. Well, some of them. But none of them had deserved to die.

And then there was what Bobby had said.

As hard as she tried not to think about it, the thoughts crept into her mind.

"Easiest explanation? Magic." He shrugged a bit and frowned. "I had always hoped you could tell me how it happened. My brother and I, we hadn't been every successful in finding you."

"Finding me? Billy, you're not making any sense. How could I possibly be your mother if you haven't met me?"

"But I have met you. Once, but I don't think you'll remember that. You actually healed me, and gave me a talk about bullies." He blushed a bit and hung his head. "The next day I found out I was a mutant, and a week later I joined the Young Avengers."

He sighed and shook his head. This wasn't happening the way he had hoped it would have.

"I'm sorry. I know all this is confusing. It was to me too, but.. man if Tommy was here.. you'd see it too. You have to be our mom, it's the only thing that makes any sense."

Wanda sighed and shook her head. "Billy, why don't you sit down and tell me exactly what makes you think I'm your mother." It seemed fairly obvious to her that there was a reason, albeit not a very good one, for Billy thinking he could be her son when they had only met once years after his birth.

Billy sighed and pulled up a chair, sitting down and still not looking at the woman in front of him. "Well I guess it started when I was found by Iron Lad. I always knew something was off with my family, but never really figured out what. Then I met Iron Lad, he said that each Young Avenger had a connection to a former Avenger. But he couldn't tell us who. Laws of the changing the future or something like that. But if the Vision had me listed as having a connection to one, I wasn't going to question it." He blinked a bit and sighed.

"Then again it was all brought back into light when Kang showed up. He was destroying everything the Avengers had made, and that included us. I disappeared for a time, and couldn't understand why. Unless my birth had to do with the Avengers. But I didn't have much more to go on. Until the Super Skrull kidnapped my..." He stopped and blinked, looking up at the woman. "My... boyfriend.." He gulped a bit. Hoping she wouldn't freak out. "My team and I, we went in search of other kids who could help us, and we found.. well my twin brother. A speedster." He bit into his bottom lip. "A mage and a speedster, twins. It didn't click then, but the Super Skrull mentioned my mother... you." He looked back to the ground and frowned. "It had all clicked then. The Scarlet Witch had a set of twins, who vanished... then Tommy and I were born. Who had the same names, and same powers as our mother and her twin. But then the War happened, and we got side tracked from trying to find you. Then when we went looking we just got dead ends. Like you didn't want us to find you."

Wanda quirked her eyebrow. There was a lot to that story she was missing out on. "Billy, I haven't had twins. Maybe the Scarlet Witch you know did, but if she was married to the Vision, you have to understand that's not possible. If you met the Vision then-" Wanda paused. "The Young Avengers? You are on that other Vision's team? The one who is on the ship now."

"The same. Did he tell you much of himself? It's a pretty interesting story." He sighed a bit and shook his head. "I know it's not psychically possible. But it did happen, I'm sure of it. She, you.. you had a set of twins. Who you named Thomas and William." He wanted to cry, but instead he looked back down at the ground. "I know it."

"No, he was quite cryptic when I asked him for more information." Wanda set her hands on William's shoulders. "Billy, I know what it is like to long for a mother. For many years I did not remember my own. It is not easy. But you must understand, I cannot be your mother. You have no proof, no evidence to give to me. I'm sorry that I must tell you this, but you need to hear it."

He shook his head and took a step back. "No. You need to understand. You need to know that it is possible and that you did it. You made Tommy and I, because you wanted children so damn bad. And it's because of us that you lost it. Because they made you get rid of us, but you didn't. You just hid us, even from yourself." He shook his head again and felt the lightning on the tips of his fingers.

"There are doctor's on board. We can do a DNA test. It'll prove it."

"Billy, if you were in my place, would you believe this? I admit there have been moments where I envied my brother, but I am quite happy without children. But if it will convince you..."

The poor boy, she needed to ask if there was someone on the ship he could talk to.

Billy shook his head and took another step back away from her. He couldn't deal with this. He knew she was his mother. Everyone knew it. Why was it so hard for her to see it? Was it because of him?

He shook his head harder and closed his eyes.

"Fine. You know what, forget it. Forget I was ever here, and I ever even opened by big damn mouth." He felt the lightning on his hands and started to mutter under his breath. 'iwannabeinmyroomiwannabeinmyroom'.

"Billy wait, please." She reached for him. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you upset."

"It was unavoidable." He shook his head, but let the spell fade away. He still wasn't looking at the woman in front of him. "There are things in life you just know, and this.. I know you're my mother. I can't prove it, but I know it's true."

"Well, if you're from a different world- maybe it is true." Not that she was all that convinced. Still, there was something about him that looked familiar. The way his hair fell, his cheekbones, but... "And it doesn't mean we can't be friends."

"I think that might be a bit off." He shook his head again. He was doing that so much around her. He felt like utter crap, jumping up to her, hoping it would all snap into place. He was an idiot and he didn't think he could face anyone after this.

"What do you mean?"

He snorts a bit. "You think I'm crazy, or lying. I think... no I know you're my mother. How is any of this going to make an easy friendship?"

"I don't think you're crazy, Billy." Just a little out of touch with reality.

"Right." He said off in a monotone voice. He didn't believe her, but then again he was also in the state of mind that he didn't believe anything.

"I wish Cap were here. He'd tell you. Or Clint. He knows too. Someone who you'd believe."

That gave her reason to pause. "Where you're from- they believe you?"

"They do." He nodded a bit and frowned. "I just don't get why you don't. Out of everyone, I thought you'd believe me before the rest of the Avengers did."

"But- how could they? No offense, but you have presented me with no evidence, no reason to believe you beyond your hopes. Perhaps in your world it would be possible but in mine it is not."

"Then we have nothing more to talk about." He turned then and headed for the door. "You know I figured a woman who could do the things you can would believe something like this. But I guess not. Stupid me."

Oh, that made Wanda cross. She folded her arms. "And you have given me no explanations, no story. I have been fooled too many times, William."

"You want the story? Fine." He turned to her, frowning.

"You wanted kids. But your husband being a robot couldn't give them to you. So you crafted them out of magic and souls. However when the other Avengers realized what you did, they made you put them back. Stealing a soul is still stealing or something, I don't even know how it worked. But it did. But you didn't put us back. Just made everyone think you did. So my brother and i grew up in adopted homes away from each other."
