Still Alone [Open]
If there was one thing Shadow hated to admit? It was being hurt. Not physically, mind you; emotionally. He was the bad ass, the guy who would never tell you how he was feeling even if you tortured him right there.
If he was willing, he'd tell you the reason why he was hurt - his rejection from Rogue Squadron just for being "too short". Sure, it was probably a childish thing to feel, but at the same time, he felt justified. At a time where you're one of the last people left in the multiverse, why hold back?
Every time he thought of the incident, it made his blood boil. Part of him, Stacy willing, wanted him to find one of those precious "X-Wings" and ram it into that stupid office.
"Maybe I do deserve to be an "Outsider"." Shadow muttered from a perch up on a rooftop. "Because I sure as hell isn't going to be any help elsewhere..."

Here, she gave him a searching look.
"I don't come this far to lose, Shadow. In fact, if there is one thing I can say about demons, its that we're very goal oriented. If anything, I'm concerned for your safety."
And he could take that anyway he liked.

A stammered a bit, before smiling a bit.
"...I'm glad you do that. What, I mean that much to you?" He may have meant that in a teasing tone, but at the same time, he was genuinely curious - did she have THAT much interest in him? Or at least enough to be concerned over him?
no subject
She turned her back here. "I've said so before, and I meant it. If I were to discover the Nightmare King had caused you injury, I would make sure that he suffered greatly. It's the least I could do."

He walked over to Alessa, laying a hand on her unburned arm. "I don't know what I could do to that thing that you already can do, but... the feeling's mutual."
no subject
Alessa said nothing for a moment, then gave him a look. "I didn't think anyone would care I got injured. I'm a demon, after all. Our pains don;t usually bother others."
no subject
"I'm sure many people here would be worried if you got hurt. They just don't either want to show it, or expect you to already know so. Besides..." Shadow looked away a bit. "...I enjoy your company."
no subject
"Doubtful," Alessa said. "The only thing that would bother them is my looking like a child. A lot of them are heavily invested on appearances." She shrugged. "Such is the way of humans."
Alessa smiled. "That feeling is mutual. I liked kissing you, if you were curious."
no subject
He looked down before he continued.
"...and I enjoyed kissing you...
no subject
"I have decided I like you Shadow," Alessa said, "Because I do. But I am also aware I am a demon, and therefore those feelings may not be something you feel inclined to act upon. But I am not one to play with words, or pretend I feel differently if it is painfully obvious."
no subject
I like you, Shadow. I know you might not feel the same way, but I don't care.
A warm smile crossed Shadow's face as he looked up at Alessa.
"And I like you, Alessa." Shadow replied. "I don't care who or what you look like, or who you are. You're Alessa, and I'm glad to have you here with me."
Master of conversations, he isn't.
no subject
"Are you sure about that? You know my nature."
no subject
"I know. If I haven't ran or ignored you by now, then I doubt I will in the future."
no subject
But of course, Alessa was no child, and was technically not even Alessa, if you wanted to be frank. But that didn't matter. The kiss she wanted was returned to her, and it was foolish to think about anything but that moment.
When they parted, she gave him a steady look. "Are you sure what you're doing?"
no subject
He was right there: like she said earlier, he was an Outsider, always doing things their own way.
"I have to ask the same question: are you sure? It's a stupid question for you, but, still..."
no subject
And she gave him a nod.
"I am sure," Alessa said. "For something like this, demons cannot afford to be wrong. It could lead to our deaths. You could say I like being risky."
no subject
no subject
And here, she gave him a wink. "You just make sure you do better than you did at the Poles. I think you stopped counting after awhile."
no subject
With that, he turned and started to walk off, only to stop a few feet away and turn back around. "If you need me for anything, Alessa... I know you can find me. I'll be here..."
no subject
When he stopped to turn around, he would probably be a little shocked to find her several feet away. "That is something you needn't worry about, Shadow the Hedgehog. I WILL be looking for you."
And out for you, but that did not need to be said.
