Daja couldn't really say she'd "settled in" yet - this place was so strange and alien, she wasn't sure if she'd ever settle in. But she'd learned to live with non-Traders - she would learn to live with these strangers too, somehow. Even if there was so much that she didn't understand, and she felt so lonely without her family and friends.
One thing she did know was that sitting around doing nothing and moping wouldn't be any use at all. She'd spent her life working, and surely even this unfathomable place needed smiths.
So she asked for directions, and found her way to the quarters of Captain Kirk. She'd met him at the orbs deck, and he was the only person in authority she knew. He'd answered her questions then, and she hoped he could help her now.
On arrival, she knocked briskly on his door. "Captain Kirk?"

"I would like to know if the ship has a forge I could use," Daja said, getting to the point. "Or, if there isn't one, whether I might be allowed to build one. I'm a blacksmith, you see, and I'm sure I will be able to find some kind of work I can do here."

He nodded, "If you have the resources, feel free. If you need anything, I'll see if we can spare anything useful - you may want to coordinate with the engineering department on this one."

"Thank you, I will remember that," Daja paused, looking a little uncertain. Perhaps if she'd managed to find her way around her omnicomm she'd be less lost, but as it was she was hopelessly ignorant about the workings of the ship. She resolved to try and find a way to learn more about that as soon as possible. "The Engineering Department? Can you tell me who I should speak to?"

He smiled again, "I believe Billy is the one you'd like to speak to - see if you can get in touch with him or the department in general. They can probably help you. In fact, you may as well see who else is interested. Get the ball rolling."

She nodded, mentally taking note of the name Billy. "Will he be in the lab?" she said. Hopefully the lab wouldn't be too hard to find.
