Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

"Aye, well." Jamie shrugs. "It's not my technology, now is it? It's the Doctor's."

He frowns at the tone, and straightens up a little from his slump. Serious tones never bode well. He looks around cautiously to make sure no-one can overhead, then lowers his voice and says, "About time travel. I know it can be done."

Which, really, someone from the 18th century should not know about.

Rei really wasn't about to say which time period should know about time travel or not. After all, the others he knew were from ancient Egypt and future Ireland, respectively. Hell, he himself was from the eighties. No, what surprised him was that normal humans weren't supposed to know about time travel.

"Who told you?" Rei said sternly, narrowing his eyes. He practically hissed it. "You're not a Guardian - there are no changes on you. So one of us had to tell you. Who told you about time travel?"

"Guardian?" Jamie is utterly confused for a moment. "What are ye talking about? Nobody told me. I wouldna have believed them if they did."

There's a visible tensing of his body, then, and he shifts forward in his seat as he fixes Rei with a similarly narrow-eyed look. "I don't think I care much for your tone. What business is it of yours if I know about time travel?"

Rei sighed, leaning back and relaxing a bit. "It wasn't any of us. Good." He said quietly.

"I'm... sorry. That was rude of me. I try not to make a habit of making an ass of myself, but it happens sometimes." He quickly debated whether or not to tell Jaime anymore then that, but he was severed from his powers, so what difference would it make? Besides, an explanation would be polite. "See, my job, literally, is to keep time going smoothly, because I'm not a part of any timeline. I'm what's called a Guardian of Time. There are only six of us at the most at any given moment. And normal, mortal humans aren't supposed to know about us. Or time travel in general, outside of fiction."

"Aye, well." Jamie is still sounding somewhat prickly, but he manages to refrain from saying something insulting in return. The explanation gives him time to cool down a little, and he starts to look rather less like he's about to start a fight and more just generally cranky. Even that begins to ease up as he listens further.

"Most people don't know about time travel where I'm from, either," he admits. "At best, people would have thought ye to be mad. More people believe in it here, but there's not too many of us that actually have." He's lowered his voice a little without realizing it. "Traveled in time, that is, not just taken from different times and places in different universes."
