Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing
The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.
The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.
[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

Jamie has heard of Belfast, but the other area mentioned he can't quite place. "Oriental Alliance?" He thinks for a moment, then shakes his head. "Sorry. I can't say I've heard of it."
It is true - having your universe destroyed isn't generally the most cheerful thing to imagine. "Aye. But we'll figure out a way to get them back. It's not so bad here, though. Ye have the Imaginariu...er, the Sensoriums. And ye don't have to sleep in the creepy pods, now that there's crew quarters." Almost as an afterthought, he adds, "And there's a real bar, too."

He sighed. It was really hard to find a good seeing eye dog that didn't shy away from powers.
"Oriental Alliance is what happened when Japan and China reached an agreement; 'our people can destroy your country' was the real idea. Japan got their powers first, so they took over the factory countries producing the goods they designed; There's really only a few independent countries left, these days. Most regions have formed alliances to try and keep the others from destroying them. Except the Irish Republic. Bloody weird, that."
He shook his head at the idea. Every other country had palled up with someone bigger, but the damn IRA refused to cooperate with anyone. As an Irishman, he found it ridiculous.
"Ye'll have to show me these quarters sometime. 'Fraid I haven't had much of a chance te get outside this room yet."

There's the beginnings of a frown as he listens to Blin. "Och, war was bad enough back in my day. Throw in countries that can use those atomic weapons and..." He shakes his head a little, then frowns. "Or, wait, would those be nuclear?" He pronounces it a little oddly. That one's still a fairly new word for him. "We actually just came back from a world that had a nuclear war. A small one, mind ye, but the effects were verra bad."
He's still pleased about how things went once they were there, so his emotions aren't quite in sync with his words. "That's true, I suppose ye haven't had the chance. I can show ye a few places, sure, but there's still a lot I havena seen yet."

"Funny thing about war, it never gets better, only worse. Yer lucky to have missed all the nasty bits."
no subject
"I'm sorry, I didna..." He breaks off rather suddenly, struck by something said earlier. "Wait. Ye said that ye saw me walk into the wall earlier, but ye...."
He trails off and scratches his head, looking rather baffled as he tries to figure this out.

He smiled, sliding his glasses back up.
"Don't worry about the comments, though. I don't. It's just somethin' ye get used to."
no subject
He nods in regards to the comment, and adds, "If it's not something that bothers ye, then I won't worry about it." He figures anyway if he says something profoundly stupid it'll get pointed out one way or another.

He seems a bit puzzled at the fact that Stacy doesn't seem to register for Blin. "Really? Stacy's a living ship - would you not pick up on the heat, if nothing else? It's no like ye canna feel the humidity on her."
no subject
Not that he'd tested what his powers could really do here, but that wasn't something he wanted to push just yet. The scars on his hands itched just thinking about it.
"but what about you? You must have some deal that brought you aboard."
no subject
"I don't have any super-powers, if that's what ye mean. Unless ye count the occasional luck of knowing something is going to attack ye and being able to get out of its way? But it's no like I can fly or make snow materialize out of thin air." That would be much more impressive, if you ask him.
There's a slight shrug. "I can play the bagpipes, I can use a sword, and I'm verra good at creeping down corridors. I still think it may be because I met someone once and got caught up in these Divine Threads the Daligig mentioned."
no subject
"If ye ask me, those are truly the best stories. It's never the ones about the super-powered traveler, it's the ones about the guy who goes with 'im. I'll definitely have to look up this magical team later, as well. They may even be able to help."
Then something clicked in his head. "Bagpipes, eh? We just need a drummer, fiddler, and someone else who can play a decent guitar and we'll have ourselves a right proper band."
no subject
He brightens, though, at the mention of music. "Someone else? Do ye play then? There's a few of us that have a wee bit of talent in that field that I've come across. And at least two guitar players I can think of off the top of my head."

He's about to say more, but one word Blin used catches his attention. "I'm sorry, did ye say Avatar?" It can't be Katara's Aang - not with Blin being from Ireland. But how many people actually use that word?
no subject
Blin was never big on religion, but certain things about the powers were common knowledge back home; they weren't natural, science couldn't figure out how they worked or even if people had them, so everyone knew it was divine. It was fact.

Jamie hms thoughtfully. "Well, from what ye are saying, it sounds like them being from God would make the most sense. But it's no like there's anything close to what ye have where I come from, so I couldna say. As for a celestial war...I don't know. I mean, ye have the situation with the Ohm here. For all I know they could be related."
no subject
He got up off the meatcouch and held his hand out to Jamie. "Pleasure meetin' ye. Yer a good bloke, for a Scot." He said with a smile.
no subject
"Let me know if ye still want the tour sometime, aye?"
