Greet the (New) Meat! (no, don't eat them!)

By hook or by crook or by avoiding hook and crook, the crew assembled from the previous podpops eventually made it up to the Living Area to greet their new crew mates. The creepy sculpture was also there, though less to greet them than it was always there.

The strange, fleshy seating had multiplied. You really, really don't want to know how.

There's a a little amused look on her face. "None yet, so at ease. I want to make sure you're briefed on our situation before I call the meeting. We have to take certain...precautions to speak freely, and not much time can be wasted while we're doing it. Has anyone explained the situation to you?"

Had he? As far as he knew, they'd been abducted for an indefinite period. They were on a traveling space vessel. They seemed to be chosen for their skill. He'd heard the word 'army' used once or twice as well.

"Negative, at least not in the formal sense. I've gathered from the other crewmates that we have been enlisted indefinitely in something resembling a military, though our objectives remain a mystery to me."

"We think it's a military. Stacy's not forthcoming with answers. For all we know, we're somebody's intended lunch. The army thing just seems the most reasonable given the skillsets we've seen so far. The only contact we've had with our abductors is Stacy, and we don't know whether she was acting freely or commanded by someone, though given she seems programmed despite being organic, the latter is more likely--someone had to program her. None of us know what our objectives are supposed to be either."

Ugh. Billy's already been lunch more than once, though fortunately those misadventures hadn't involved sharp teeth or gastric acid. Fate probably won't be so kind again, so he'll do his best to avoid that.

"I see. I'm not yet accustomed to information being so heavily restricted. Thank you for the clarification, though." Everything she's said makes sense so far. Hey, there's a positive!
