Thaddos was doing nothing more than milling around. He could hear the Machine Spirits wailing in his head, and he hated it. So, that was the reason he was doing nothing at all. He couldn't find the machines.

What a Tech Priest he turned out to be!

His mechadendrites twitched anxiously, the only outward signs of his distress. His vox unit spit out rapid sentences of Machine Cant, which might mean everything from 'where are you, honourable Machine Spirits?' or 'Skak this.'

It looks like the things from District 9 got together with a robot and had a baby. Cool.

"Oh, is that so? I happen to be a cyborg myself. This interests me." He gestures at the fleshblob across from him for Thaddos to come and take a seat. Since preaching is more comfortable from a seated position.

Thaddos sits down on the... fleshblob, and it reminded him of tyranids, by the Omnissiah, but he had to cope.

[It is a very interesting, indeed. Have you heard of the Adeptus Mechanicus? And by proxy, Cult Mechanicus?] If not, Thaddos will convert him.

"Nope." Allen sits back with a grin. "Do tell."

He's Jewish. Good luck converting him to anything that doesn't involve 8 nights of presents and making Germans feel guilty forever.

[Once, mankind was fragmented. We called this the Age of Man. Then, the Dark age of Technology came! Man built sentient robots and new technology, and the Machine God responded to this great heresy by having the Men of Iron rise up and slay their masters. Since then, us Tech Priests are focused on pleasing the Machine Spirits, and keeping the meatbags from tinkering with things they do not know.]

Thaddos is a happy preacher now. He will convert you with sheer, insane JOY.

But Allen totally IS one of those meatbags! And he managed to build himself via that tinkering, so, you know.

"Cool. A Machine God. I had no idea." 'Cause he didn't.

[Then it is good I could eduacate you.] He peered at Allen. [You need more mechanics, if you wish to become closer to the Machine God.]

Don't let Thaddos know you're unholy.

"I am presently satisfied with my amount of mechanics, but I'll keep that in mind for when I start upgrading. I'm thinking bionic eyes."

After all, nothing to his exterior suggests he has machine parts. Bionic eyes would be a step towards that.

Thaddos is pleased, and points to his bionic eye.

[They are very useful. I can scan and zoom with my current one. And of course, just appraoch me. I am always happy to help a fellow Tech Adept get closer to the Machine God.]

"Oh yeah? Think I could get a look at some of your blueprints? I've been pulling up files and I'm compiling the data for a nice custom job -"

Advanced robot schematics, Allen does want.

That, Thaddos reflected, was a dilemma. He narrowed his eye at Allen. He is thinking. Don't disturb him.

"It depends." No longer binary, just High Gothic. "If you are indeed a Tech Adept, I may show you, but if you are not, it is heresy against the Omnissiah to do. We do not reveal our secrets."

"Define Tech Adept."

Maybe cyborgs who made themselves cyborgs are. Or maybe they burn those at the stake.

"A Tech Priest, such as myself. A member of the Adeptus Mechanicus, no longer a novice."

They don't burn them at a stake. They make servitors of them.

Hmm.

"Nope, can't say that I am." Not honestly, anyway.

Thaddos visibly slumped.

"Then I can't tell you anything." His mechadendrites drooped dejectedly.

Allen's not done yet. "How does one go about becoming a Tech Adept? Or is it something you're born-slash-created as?"
