And we're out of beta, we're releasing on time
With little more fanfare than a sputt! noise, Lucca Ashtear was ejected back into the Hub of the ship.
"Thank you for participating in our scientific study!" GLaDOS chirped. "You may now proceed to the Living Area. Cake will be available for your consumption there."
Lucca would be disappointed, though. There was no cake. However, she the Hub would take her where she wanted to go -- provided that where she wanted to go was "away from the crazy voice".

She's lying.
Her eyes shot towards the ceiling, and the hole leading towards the Living Area.
She. Is. Lying, her mind insisted stubbornly. You're tired, hungry, and haven't seen a single living organism in weeks. You're off-balance and she knows it. Go racing up there looking for cake and you'll end up looking like a cretin--oh fine, don't listen to me then....
"GlaDOS! LET ME BACK IN!" Lucca flailed angrily, hammer in hand. "I NEED TO 'MODIFY' YOUR CORE!"
Warned ya, that little voice chided, but the rest of her was too busy yelling at the ceiling to notice it. Or much of anything else.

"Lemme guess," he calls, peering into the Hub. "She promised you grief counseling too?"

"Wait, you're familiar with her?", she asked, trying--and failing--to put her heammer away discreetly.
