Find Us Down on Memory Street. [Closed]

It felt great to not feel any muscle in her stomach anymore. Well on her way to being completely recovered (even if she sometimes felt the need to poke her scar), Sherry had scurried into the sensoriums, right out from under the noses of her otherwise occupied parents. Call it habit, but she found herself again in the Raccoon City part, dressed in a blue shirt, denim coveralls and a red jacket, watching the red-and-gold colored leaves sway in the breeze. Her pink and white sneakers bore grass stains, just like the knees of her coveralls.

No ducks, this time, but a blue kite lay on the ground beside her. She had thought about flying it, but when she realized that she didn’t have the foggiest idea how, gave up and decided to lie on the ground, instead. After thinking for a while about nothing, her thoughts turned to heavier subject matter: If she had really been Claire and Leon’s daughter, Sherry wondered and chewed her thumbnail, would she have known how to fly a kite? Maybe not, they didn’t seem like kite-flying people. It was hard to pretend when a lot of things were still new experiences. Was she acting right? Would they tell her if she was?

“Well, of course they would,” Sherry told no one in particular. “They like making sense.” Usually. She sighed and looked at the kite. It was hard to get used to, really, this business of them showing affection and wanting to see her. Sometimes, she wanted to tell them to stop, but couldn't bring herself to. Sherry wasn’t used to it, but she’d do her best. She was doing her best…

She wanted them to want her, after all.

Chris smiled, closing his eyes, trying to remember. It had been long ago, just after the accident that made the siblings orphans when he was there last.

"I don't remember much about the garden, but the area around there was just nothing but rolling hillsides, with rich green grass with the occasional tree. It was really beautiful. You'd have loved it kiddo."

"It was gorgeous," Claire affirmed, smiling a little and looking down at Sherry, brushing the girl's bangs back from her face.

"Gran spent a lot of time on the garden, there were dozens of different kinds of flowers. She probably could've opened her own flower shop."

Chris smiled from Claire to Sherry and back again. "Sure. Stacy! Mind if we move this over to Scotland, two miles south of the Edinburgh, please?" He grinned and examined Sherry's hair. "Y'know, I could cut it for you kiddo. I cut Claire's for quite a while."

Claire laughed while Raccoon City Park gave way to the Scottish countryside around them, shaking her head. "That's why I started wearing my hair in a ponytail." She smirked over at her brother before running her fingers over Sherry's hair again.

"I can give you a hair cut sometime, provided no hair salons magically pop up around here."

Chris gave Claire a playful nudge, rolling his eyes. "All because of that one time, and I still say you flinched. And don't worry 'bout it kiddo. I can understand. I'm kinda picky about my hair too."

He gave it a moment to let the irony of that set in, considering he very rarely bothered to even comb his hair in the mornings.

"Mmhmm. I always thought this was one of the most serene and beautiful places on the planet..." He sighed contentedly as he leaned back on the tree that had appeared behind him, stretching out his legs, though troubled memories of Africa began to poke their ugly heads into his conscious mind.

He fought them back, but it was clear, the Kijuju incident had taken more of a toll on him than he initially thought.

"You wanna take a look around?" Claire spoke to Sherry, patting the little girl's shoulder. She was content with sitting here, but if Sherry wanted to explore she'd pull herself up to go with. Chris she expected to take it easy, of course.

Chris for his part just watched the two go off exploring, sighing contentedly. He had originally come to talk to Claire about something he had just learned, but this just wasn't the right time. As such, he decided to take a little nap underneath the tree he leaned against, hoping that the plagas didn't haunt his dreams.

Claire gave her brother a small smile before taking Sherry's hand and pushing herself up off the ground, subconsciously patting any dirt off her butt and looking around the countryside, letting Sherry pick a direction. Claire had already seen all of this before, and she'd spent a little more time here than Chris had.

"Did something happen last time?" Claire looked down at Sherry, a slight frown creasing her features, although her look was mostly curious. Usually when Sherry trailed off like that something was up, but if she didn't want to tell Claire, she wouldn't force her.

Claire frowned a little at that, a cold feeling settling in the pit of her stomach telling her she knew who Sherry was talking about, but she needed the little girl to clarify. She was trying not to jump to conclusions over certain people who she would be content never seeing.

"What did she look like, sweetie?"

Claire decided not to read too much into Sherry's bias about Claire being prettier, although there was an odd part of her that felt boosted by that. Claire of course knew that Ada was pretty much a knock out and had that whole mysterious air thing going for her.

"Ada Wong," she finally said, sighing a little at the name and sounding less than happy about that. She turned to crouch down in front of Sherry, moving to place her hand on the little girl's shoulder. "Your father ran into her in Raccoon City." Despite the conversation that Claire and Leon had had, and the fact that she knew Leon wasn't going to go running off to chase after Ada again, she still sounded less than happy about that. "If you see her again, I need you to get in touch with me or your dad as quick as you can, okay? I don't think she'd hurt you, but she's kind of dangerous."

"It's fine, sweetie." Claire smiled, reaching up to brush her hand back over Sherry's head and pull her forward a little so she could plant a kiss on the little girl's forehead. "But just for future reference, if you ever feel paranoid about anyone don't hesitate to talk to me or your dad about it, okay? You've got good instincts, you should trust them."

"Sounds good," Claire smiled, straightening up again and patting Sherry's head once. She liked that Sherry had friends she felt she could trust to watch her, and Claire herself had seen enough to know Sherry's friends would do anything to keep her safe. They had a good group of kids on board, and Claire was glad for that.
