Explorinating the countryside

They've taken note of the rule that people shouldn't go anywhere alone. Brainiac 5 has opted for one of the Kryptonians to accompany him as backup as he explores. The problem is, both are equally annoying, so he winds up using a randomization program om his ominocom to...well, essentially flip a coin to see who to ask to come with him.

It winds up being Supergirl. This is why the green-skinned Coluan and the blonde Kryptonian are wandering through the living area--and the city--exploring. If you can stop them from bickering a moment, you might even get a conversation out of them.

"I've yet to see anything resembling a control panel or console. This is somewhat alarming."

No, what's alarming is that you've chosen me to tag along with you. "Well, it seemed like the ship was, you know, a living thing. Or something. Sentient. Maybe it doesn't have controls because it...moves on its own?"

It was her or him. He needs someone that can break down walls. The other one is just as annoying.

And lacks boobs.

"But how do the actual crew--the ones that have taken us--control it? There must be some means of allowing them to input information into Stacy's systems. I sincerely doubt they just tell her 'Go.'"

Kara looked around, raising an eyebrow. "Nanobots? Telepathy? Maybe they're cyberpaths?" She held the corners of her cape, swooshing them as she floated along next to Brainy. "Oh! Oh! Alien oompa-loompas?"

"Oompa-what?"

"What, was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory not remade a million times by the time your unfortunate generation hit?" She crossed her arms - a move that she was doing more and more around cabbage butt - and glared at him. "I hope there's a Pop Culture Lad where you come from, because you're so woefully lost that it's almost endearing amusing. No, scratch that. It is endearing amusing."

Brainy waves his free hand--the other holds his omnicom--dismissively. "Pop culture is fleeting and utterly pointless to even acknowledge. The only long-term certainties worth knowing are scientific principles."

"If that's what you need to tell yourself to make you feel worthy of the Brainiac title, convince away, cabbage butt." Kara turned and landed in front of him. She was maybe a little too close for comfort. "But we both know the truth." She winked and giggled and then took to the air again, floating ahead of Brainy.

He frowns at her...weird behavior.

"It's unimaginably horrifying how many hours Earthlings--both in your time and my own--spend indulging in badly-written programming meant to cater to the intellectually-challenged. That time could be applied to much more productive purposes."

"Oh please. It's called entertainment. We even had it on Krypton, and Krypton was an incredibly advanced society." She turned her head a little and looked at Brainy out of the corner of her eye. "Maybe even smarter than you guys."

He laughed.

Outright laughed.

Loudly.

Kara's eyes flashed red. "What's. So. Funny?" Her voice wavered between fire and ice.

"Coluan science is exactly the same as it was 1000 years ago." Incidentally, uh, that's partly his own fault, but he'd rather not get into how he accidentally released the original Brainiac and brought about a millenium-long period of stagnation.

"And even then, it was significantly more advanced than that of Krypton."

"Like I said earlier, spanky, if that's what you need to believe..." Kara shrugged. "That's up to you." She turned around with that impish, teasing grin again. "But we both know the truth!"

"Why are you so fixated on proving your superiority?"

"Look at the base word, Brainy. Superiority? Supergirl? Surely, even you're smart enough to notice that."

"If you're truly superior, why do you feel the need to have it validated? When I say I'm vastly intelligent and more intelligent than most sentient beings, it's simply stating fact. Were I to meet someone more intelligent than myself, I would acknowledge it."

Trufax. He'd hate it, but acknowledge it. For instance! Lyle Norg wasn't as intelligent as he was, but he certainly was more creative with his intelligence, much to Brainy's chagrin. That didn't make him the superior scientific mind, of course, but it had its own merit.

"Mostly because it annoys the heck out of you, and it's fun." Kara chuckled. "Do I really need any other, reason, hand...spanky?"

He just stares at her for a moment. Spanky?

"That offer of a protective helmet still stands."

Kara scowls and pulls her arm back to punch him.

And then she remembers being mauled by the ship.

"I think you just want me to cover up my face so you won't be stunned by it's intense, angelic beauty."

"You think far too highly of your physical appearance," he says, squirming just a little, carefully looking at his omnicom.

"Can you blame me?" Kara asked, watching him, clearly amused.

"When you have all the depth of personality of a puddle of spilled Nutrisoy, yes."

"Well, you must find something interesting about me, judging by the way your eyes are always roving over me, then."

Now he flushes. "They are not. Don't delude yourself."

"Your frog-hide's turning a little warm around the cheeks," she said, tossing her hair. "Gee, I wonder what that means? Oh! Oh! Are you embarrassed at having been caught out?"
