The Lost Archaeologist [Open]

...cake? Where was that cake? Wait... that wasn't right. There was no cake. It was a dream. Yeah, a dream. That works. Indiana slipped out of his sleeping pod; he noted that the rest of these were strangely empty. How long was he asleep? He got the feeling that he'd missed something big.

However, Indy didn't care too much about the matters of the ship. He shrugged off any odd suspicions and headed to his might-as-well-be-home on the ship, the media library. He settled in with a datapad containing some ancient texts good thing he practiced his Latin subjunctives

Sokka had been brushing up on the technical terms for sword styles when the older guy with a cool hat had come in. He'd watched the guy for a short while before meandering over, peeking over his shoulder at the latin. Of course, it was all Greek to Sokka, who was used to characters, not an alphabet.

"....What does all of that mean?"

"Oh. What's the Aeneid?"

Sokka raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know what any of that stuff meant except for 'epic poem,' 'long journey,' and maybe the political thing. Sorry." He shrugged and scratched at his head.

"I don't quite understand how your writing works there. It seems like a lot of the characters repeat themselves..."

"Of course I can read, see!" He thrust his own datapad at Jones. The script there looks very much like Chinese characters.

"Just...not whatever that is. The Roman alphabet or whatever you called it."

"Uh...huh. I dunno. Why would you need a name for a language? It's not like there's more than one. I just read it. And speak it, of course." He shrugged.

"And stop calling me kid. I'm not a kid!"

"Not where I come from, old man. There's just the one. Shows what you know." Sokka, master of Sarcasm is in the house.

"The South Pole, Southern Water Tribe. Duh."

"Probably because you're not from my world. You do know we're all from different worlds, right?" He crossed his arms smugly.

Oh yeah. Who's good? Sokka! Sokka is good. If he weren't concerned with looking mature, he'd do a little victory arm pump.

"Which explains why you've never heard of us. Or our language. And why I've never seen yours."

"I'm not a kid, sheesh! You gotta stop with the kid thing..."

"Sixteen. An adult and a warrior of the Water Tribe. I planned the invasion of the Fire Nation, you know." Sure, it didn't work. But this guy doesn't need to know that.

"I am not a kid!" Okay, now this was getting annoying.

The medbay was getting pretty crowded, with people in and out all the time looking to find one person or another, so Scarlet found herself needing to take refuge in other parts of the ship for a little bit of quiet.

Fortunately, the media library was always a good place for that, and it'd give her the opportunity to attempt to do some research on the little project she'd been helping Luis with.

The information on the viruses they were working with wasn't exactly copious, but she pulled up everything Stacy had in her database on the Umbrella Corporation's research, and moved distractedly to find somewhere to settle while she started tapping her fingers over the data pad. Unfortunately reading and walking is not always something a person should do, and not a talent Scarlet had mastered, which explained why when she passed by Indiana she accidentally bumped into his seat.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going."
