Building a family [hella open]

Slobo had been puttering around the ship for an hour, thinking and looking. He quickly found that if you looked hard enough, between W&P and the City itself, you could find anything. In the end, he was standing outside a Courtyard by Marriott hotel about a click outside of "Escherville" with spraypaint and a very large block of stone. At first he had thought about the Vatican, but it was too wrecked from the zombie fight. Plus, this place had an indoor pool. He spraypainted a large message on the wall next to the door, red with black outline.
"OUTSIDERS
COMMUNITY SERVICE
FIELD TRAINING
PEER COUNSELING

On the sandwich board tucked near the door, he wrote "12-21? Info and Tryouts inside" and left it out in front. Now, he took his large rock into the lobby and began carving. And waited.

He amusedly raises an eyebrow at Slobo, "You think I was going to let the Chief give you all guns and show you how to kill the most things in the shortest space of time?"

Then, he facetiously rounds back on Static, "Funny, I have very vivid memories of Aquaman asking for a Justice League, and I'm fairly certain there were at least five teenagers very keen on there being a Teen Titans."

"And there are two teens here who think there needs to be an Outsiders." Static said. His ability to show respect to Batman was beginning to wear out as he dug his heels in. "We aren't asking for your permission, Batman. If no one shows, no one shows. We'll deal with that when we come to it. But we think this needs to happens, and we are going to make it happen.""

"Maybe you should start listening before people start showing up. I don't give a damn about who you ought to be justifying yourself to. It's not the the concept I have a problem with, either. It's a good idea. The ship should have had a support group a long time ago."

He shakes his head, "It's the name, the criteria. You start offering help to only a select group of people and you stop being outsiders. You create rifts in a crew that already has a few too many. We've all lost our homes and our lives, stop acting like an entitled brat."

Bruce still regards the scene with vague amusement. Follow their lead? What exactly were the Batfamily, those who were present on the ship, if not an outsider group?

"You're forgetting that the League, the Society and the Titans all answered to international legislation. We were part of the community we wanted to protect, and we answered to them when we needed to."

He looks at both of them, and conceeds, "I have no intention of preventing either of you from building this. I just thought when someone with nearly two decades of experience in this field starts talking, you might actually consider listening, and think about the consequences for people other than yourselves. I can't help you until you start listening."

He turns to walk away, "One more thing you ought to think about. The current system is built upon trust and trust alone. You know what happened when the last group of people who thought the crew didn't understand them decided to act upon their own authority? They shot people. We're an endangered species, boys. Don't let it go that far."

"I don't plan on having our group fight the system at all, Batman. In fact, one of the big things I want to build here is more trust. Trust in each other, and by extension, trust in the ship. Stacy still needs a lot of repair work; I'm almost done with the bridge, then I've got more sensors to fix here in the city and the corridor we pretty much decimated. Having 'real' Stacy in charge and loosening up the rules a bit, I think, is going to give a lot of people the impression our command structure doesn't exist anymore, or that it only effects certain people, like the older...recruits. I want to try and change that. And I'll take whatever advice you can give us, as long as you try not to skirt around your points. It makes it a bit hard to follow." He said the last part with a little smile.

... yep, he's already gone. It is his trademark, after all.

"You know, people wonder why he doesn't have many friends, when he goes around disappearing while you're in mid sentence. I wonder how Superman puts up with that..." He shook his head.

"We'll manage. After all, we always have before, right?"
