Building a family [hella open]

Slobo had been puttering around the ship for an hour, thinking and looking. He quickly found that if you looked hard enough, between W&P and the City itself, you could find anything. In the end, he was standing outside a Courtyard by Marriott hotel about a click outside of "Escherville" with spraypaint and a very large block of stone. At first he had thought about the Vatican, but it was too wrecked from the zombie fight. Plus, this place had an indoor pool. He spraypainted a large message on the wall next to the door, red with black outline.
"OUTSIDERS
COMMUNITY SERVICE
FIELD TRAINING
PEER COUNSELING

On the sandwich board tucked near the door, he wrote "12-21? Info and Tryouts inside" and left it out in front. Now, he took his large rock into the lobby and began carving. And waited.

KAT?

Well, that aside, Katara looked more than a little shocked, giving the place a look over.

"A team, like, your own team? What kind of team? Why?"

Katara reflected on this. She'd talked to quite a few people here, definitely knew that some of them had been on superhero teams. Katara didn't consider herself that, since helkping people was just the right thing to do, but technically she WAS in a team. It was stupid to not really call it that, and she agreed with most of what Slobo was saying anyway.

Most of it, anyway.

"What do you mean 'keep people in line?' How?"

"We're hoping it won't come to anything like that. But, gotta be ready. I mean, look at the three of us; we've all got incredibly different origins, and we've bonded pretty well; our real goal here is to get more people to bond like we did. If more people have your back, the less likely you are to end up...hurt."

He was gonna say dead; he was. But even Static wasn't stupid enough to say that after what just happened.

Katara totally got your meaning Static. It was good for the air, really. Despite everything, Katara did feel grief for B5. If there was a funeral, she would be there to pay her respects. It was possible she might not be here were it not for him.

She looked contemplative, but it was really only for show: this sounded like a good idea. It was one thing to work individually, but together, who knew what could be accomplished? And it was a TEAM- something she missed more than she'd anticipated. It was okay that Sokka and Zuko were here of course, but she also wanted the team feeling again.

"Well I think this is a good idea. Count me in. But speaking of Lex..." Katara's voice trailed off. "I'm sure we need to watch him. But I'm also concerned about Kon too."

"Lex and Kon..." Static sighed. "Those two are a dangerous issue. I'd like to be able to bring Kon in as soon as we can, but I'm afraid he's gonna hold out because of how the Lex thing went down. There's a lot of people who are still pretty angry with us about that. Lex himself is a whole other kind of problem; he's more a danger to himself than anyone else, right now. I mean, he's manipulative and not a nice guy, which warrants keeping an eye on him, but I don't know what we can really do there. I'm still trying to figure that one out."

He stretched his shoulders a bit; the team was barely formed, but after what Batman had said, Static felt a much bigger weight on himself then he probably should. "Welcome to the team, Kat."

"I'm a little concerned about that too," Katara said. "I don't think we can afford to have any more real bad divisions like the Lex thing. we;ll wind up not hurting each other, and then where will we be? I'm all this club, if only to make sure that we get a balanaced idea of what we can do about the next round of things that go down."

Katara blinked. "Thanks! I'm happy to join."

Kat. It was weird somehow.
