« Oh holy crud--you're alive. You're actually alive! Do you know about the others? Can you reach them? We knew something terrible had been released but we had no idea what. »
There's a pause, as he tries to figure out what to say to answer how his team is.
« We lost B5. He--he saved the whole ship from being blown to hell by the pirates. Paco wasn't supposed to go with us but got caught with us while the doors sealed off, Nightwing -- he lost an arm. I'm really wishing he'd stayed with you, Mei Ling. »
After another pause, he asks, « What happened down there? The AI that was trying to kill us said he was releasing something on you guys? Are you okay? No one died, did they? »
« Ah- » Mei Ling's voice hitched. A death? And Paco... he was supposed to stay here with her, and now...
« T-there were zombies. » She's clearly upset and not doing a very good job of covering that up, even if she was trying. She's quiet now, she'll let Dick explain more.
« I'm sorry, Beetle. » And he is. His voice is entirely sincere. He doesn't know how to be anything else. « When you get back, I'm all ears if you need one. »
As for the rest of it... « The crew down here is safe. Injuries, but I'm fairly certain we haven't lost anybody. » That could change, though. That could always change. « They...wherever they came from originally, the zombies got down into the pod caverns. I can't be certain, but we're probably talking pod casualties in the thousands. »
<< Good to hear from you, Mister Reyes. I'm... sorry to hear about your casualties, but quite glad you've accomplished your objective and managed to put is in much safer hands. Good work. >>
There's a pause.
<< The casualties in the podbay were tragic, but there was nothing we could've done. I suppose I'll have to have a full debriefing with you later. >>
« Brenda! It's really good to hear your voice, but I can't really talk right now. Stuff is going down. Paco's here--he's...okay. We lost B5 though, Brainy's a wreck--I--look, I'll talk to you in a few, okay? »

Silence. For a time.
Then finally he speaks again, but all he can seem to say is:
« Oh. »
My fault. My fault. My fault. My fault...
« I need...I need to tell the others. Keep in touch if your status changes. We'll do the same. »
Another pause, and then he says:
« And I'm the one that's sorry, Nightwing. »
