ZOMBIE POD POP! (zompop?)

[ooc: Newbie Helpers List | Instructions: First, read *HERE*. Then, once you've read the overall plan, post your character into the main thread establishing them as being podpopped, and reacting to the oncoming zombie horde (since there is no Stacy replies to comment to, it will all be one thread, instead of individual threads). This can include fighting and/or fleeing if you want. Eventually, volunteers from Team Left Behind will rush in and save the day. Obviously, since there's no time for it while fighting for your lives against zombies, this podpop won't get the whole ||You have been Chosen|| speech from Stacy, so they'll have to get their answers (and pants) later.]

||Pod Release Protocols Initating|| Stacy's familiar voice sounds out to all the podmates through the ship.

In the Pod Caverns, there are the sounds of: Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

There is condensation and mist spraying out from cracks in the pods, as the people inside slide out onto the floors, covered in slime.

--

There was nothing. You were going about your normal life, then there was a bright light, and then? Nothing.

Then the world lurches.

The chamber here is humid.

Actually, "chamber" isn't quite accurate. You're in a cavern, half-lit by an eerie greenish light, going on and on as far as the eye can see. The light is coming from what can only be described as pods, glistening, round greenish-yellow things, glowing with a pale inner light, outlining human -- and not quite human -- forms. Each is rooted to the floor, to the walls, with something black, twisted, and unidentifiable.

They line the walls of the cavern, go up in maddeningly high columns, curling and corkscrewing up into the darkness, until the light from them is like that of the stars, glowing pale and mournful in clusters in the darkness above. Twisted walkways and stairs crisscross, traverse the platforms in front of the pods, wending their way back and forth, up and down through the chamber.

You just came from one of those pods, broke free like a butterfly from a (slimy, nasty) chrysalis.

Now you stand alone but not quite alone, naked, not knowing how you got there, who took you, or why you were taken.

As your body heats up again, you realize the air is warm -- just a few degrees too warm to be comfortable -- and muggy; it smells acrid and organic, like freshly spilt blood and sweat. Your mouth tastes of salt.

The floors are pulsing under your feet, throbbing...

Wherever you are, this entire place...is alive.

Oh, and also you're naked and covered in alien snot.

And this is the point everything goes to hell.

You see, not too long ago, a psychopathic AI unleashed a horde of zombies on this ship, and now they were making their way to these very caverns, eager to eat the flesh off your bones.

Less than a minute after you've been plopped from out of your pod, you hear the sounds of the ravening undead horde making their way through the tunnels towards you, and it's pretty damn obvious what they're looking for.

Ready or not, here they come.

Satori emerges, half-awake, naked, covered in slime and surrounded by the undead, into the world of Stacy.

From her first five seconds of confusion and sorting out the situation, Satori quickly concludes that this was about the worst possible thing she could have woken up to. Complaining, though, would have to wait, as the zombies seem all too eager to tear into the flesh of the living, which includes her. Definitely mindless, as she can't hear any thoughts coming from them...

...no, wait. She can't hear any thoughts coming from anything.

The Third Eye is missing.

The incoming horde of zombies now seeming like a secondary crisis, Satori escapes from the hordes by moving straight up, levitating about ten feet upwards and assuming the fetal position, hoping desperately that none of the zombies can jump that high and looking for anywhere that looks more safe or sensical than here.

[identity profile] mammalrobot.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
There was a cracking sound that the robot did not hear, followed by a draining and falling that the robot also did not feel. It lay face down on the ground and stiff as a board as various subsystems booted up. Visual, auditory, tactile, motor functions, and finally cognitive.

Atomic Robo awoke to the world with a zombie chewing on his head. Unusual, but not terribly threatening. A simple punch sent the zombie cartwheeling into a nearby wall, it's skull fractured. Questions would come later. For now, there were people around being killed and eaten by zombies, and Robo knew where he stood with zombies. "Alright kids. We're going to play the punching game now..."

"OH GOD WHAT THE HELL"

Scout sorta... slides out of his pod. He flails a bit until he manages to get up right. He pauses. He is covered in go. And also naked. Awesome. There are also zombies. Scout spots those soon enough. As if being naked and goo-covered wasn't horrible enough, here Scout was in front of a bunch of zombies without a way to defend himself.

Cue the string of obscenities.

[identity profile] flashfact.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so naked? Check. Dripping with goo? Check. No real memory of where he was or what he was smoking before he woke up here? Check. Festering and moaning zombies after his brains? Check. Similarly naked girl levitating over a group of similarly festering and moaning zombies? Check.

What the hell was going on here? Worry about that later.

With one hand over his nethers and his eyes well and truly away from anybody else's nethers, Wally goes powering through the zombies directly underneath Satori, scattering them like bowling pins.

"You okay up there, kiddo?"

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Major Charles Kawalsky jumped to his feet, not even taking the time to wipe the goo off his body. He hardly had time to take in his surroundings before he heard that sound. That sound was straight from a horror movie.

He didn't have any weapons. He didn't even have any clothes. There was only on thing he could do. Run.

And there was a flying kid and a robot.

"Anyone know what the hell is going on?" Kawalsky yelled. Scout was right in front of him so he grabbed him by the arm and jerked him onto his feet. He started running again, dragging the man with him.

[identity profile] thirdeyesighted.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"No!" Satori sounds reasonably indignant. This whole situation is ridiculous, and she has no idea who or even what this fast guy is. She isn't even considering going back down there yet. "I need answers. And somewhere to land. And clothes."

[identity profile] bonk-you-up.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Running, Scout can handle that. Actually, Scout can handle that really well. Kawalsky might end up the one getting dragged.

"Watcha think is going on, there's frickin' ZOMBIES!" Do you not see them?

[identity profile] flashfact.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Shrug off the shame, Wally. This isn't the first time you've had to save the day with your butt hanging out.

"Yeah, kinda busy with those things myself," he replies, spinning his arms to batter local zombies with gusts of air, "But I can make you a clear spot to land if you promise not to look."

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you know what's going on shut up and run." He looked around. The zombies were everywhere, as were others who'd just been released from the pods like him. Some of them had the chance to run and others...

They had to get out of here fast.

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
The sounds of the approaching horde was secondary in her mind. Right now, triumphant from bringing her vengance forth, she was now in an unfamiliar place. This was not her Silent Hill, this was not West Virginia. This place was alive somehow, and there was a new situation now: there were crawling things, maggots, attempting to pollute the space she was occupying.

This would not stand.

She rose from the pod, walking delicately. The slime was interesting, cold, clammy. It was actually a feature she liked. She ran a hand through her hair, looking disinterested. She stretched her neck a moment, and when the zombies came at the pod, Alessa was no longer sttaionary.

She had the vines entwined around her, and she rose in the air now, her face no longer dull but almost beaming with glee. One tendril came quick at the zombie and split it in two, and then tore apart another apart from the hip.

She saw no reason for words, but she decided she would make this pronouncement anyway.

You are in my space."

[identity profile] thirdeyesighted.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I wasn't planning on it." Satori closes her eyes, half to comply with Wally's request and half to stop seeing zombies and carnage wherever she looks. "Do what you have to do."

Tess doesn't process crazy things like this logically. Or particularly quickly, even. Her breath shuddering, nearly hyperventilating, she's letting out a sound that's almost but not quite a low wail as she tries to avoid the zombies.

[identity profile] bonk-you-up.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Just remember, Kawalsky, you were the one who told him to run. Scout is quite the speed demon. While they may have been surrounded by frickin' zombies, Scout can easily outrun them. Who's pulling who now?

[identity profile] hero-medic.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Peter had popped naked, covered in goo, with other people looking, and surrounded by zombies. It was as if every twelve year old's nightmares had converged and become his reality. Thankfully, he had his speed at the moment. The zombies weren't even human, so violence against them could be considered a healthy cathartic release. He tore one's arm off, and proceeded to beat the others senseless with it at superhuman speeds. He made his way through the crowd until he saw someone who seemed to be moving at the same speed as him.

Wait. Faster. That's an advantage Peter could use. He made his way to the small group and looked at the ginger speedster.

"Peter Petrelli." He said quickly. "I copy powers. Mind throwing me a high five so I can copy your speed?"

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Whoa!" He was tripping over his own feet. "Can you pull me if I fall? Otherwise let go. If I fall then we're both in trouble."

[identity profile] thekohakuriver.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Haku panted his panic, momentarily overwhelmed by the disorientation of finding himself asleep, and then awake. He was on his hands and knees on the slimy ground, simply lost in the sensation of breathing and panic, when he first heard the shuffling undead and looked up in dawning horror.

"What?" He gasped, then scrambled inelegantly to his feet. Even Yubaba wouldn't have inflicted this, not she of the damask, velvet and ropes of golden silk. He was used to terrifying or dangerous spirits, but these were unmistakably human, white human skulls peeking through flaccid, rotting human flesh.

Unnatural. A wrong thing.

Watching them approach with his hackles rising, the fact that Haku was nude no longer seemed of particular importance. He turned to Alessa as she spoke, ostensibly to demand an answer to any number of questions, but was struck dumb at the carnage. Instead he stupidly blurted, "A demon?"

[identity profile] mammalrobot.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"'Scuse me, ma'am."

A large metal fist flew in front of Tess's face and sent another zombie hurtling into the crowd. The work of about a minute had a nice clear spot around them. Robo noticed that Tess was still not-quite-wailing, and wasn't quite sure what to do about that, eventually settling on a business-like attitude, "Calm down, your yelling is just going to attract more of them. Nothing nasty is getting any closer than punching range."

[identity profile] demon-alessa.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alessa came at them quicker now, acting out of instinct. She was thorough in her destruction and the zombies started coming faster to match. It was amusing: they wouldn't have a chance, not as long as all they were was walking corpses.

She'd made better than this, MUCH better. Once these other people in pods were out of the way, she would properly show these corpses what true terror was like.

She turned to the boy. "I have been called that."

[identity profile] hugelikexbox.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Wally is already circling around the other two abductees, bowling zombies over one another and giving Satori an ample sized space to plant her feet and also throw a cat in.

He slows his speed so that his words don't come out a complete splurge, "Wow, I think you're the politest power stealer I've ever had the oppurtunity to meet. No offence, but even in mortal peril I'd rather have at least two references from reliable sources first."

Of course, he's not all that sure it would work anyway. One doesn't just copy a mainline into the Speedforce, and it looks like Peter's running at the speed his innate powers give him anyway.

Tess shivers, arms clinging tightly to herself. Her mouth clamps shut, though her expression suggests she's not in quite a right state of mind yet. But—okay. Whoever the hell this is in the armor (that's what she automatically assumes), he's protecting her. Okay.

She lets out a noise like "ngyah!", fists shaking impotently. It looks like her emotional track is rolling over from fear into confused anger. Well, better than freezing in place, at least.

"What the hell?!"

[identity profile] bonk-you-up.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Whatsa matter, can't keep up?" Scout's sort of a jerk. If Kawalsky falls, Scout is just running without him.

[identity profile] kawalskyeffect.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
If they weren't running for their lives Kawalsky would've smacked him hard over the head. "No, I can't. And I don't want to end up as zombie food."

[identity profile] thekohakuriver.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Instinctively, Haku snarled, hackles up and hair lifting as if in a breeze. A demon? She smelled almost human, even among the near-overpowering stink of the ship. Perhaps she had been human once, perhaps she had been a spirit.

He didn't care, because by now there was a dragon where the boy had stood, as tall as she at the shoulder and barking his challenge to the undead, the chamber around them, and the world in general. This wasn't right, this wasn't fair, and he wanted out. Alessa's attacks had shielded Haku's pod from the onslaught by the way it was positioned, but no more. He rose into the air and roared again.

[identity profile] bonk-you-up.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Fine. Scout will slow down a little bit.

"If they catch up, I'm droppin' you and runnin."

[identity profile] mammalrobot.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Robo grabbed a zombie that strayed too near by the neck and hurled it into a nearby cluster. he may have muttered "Strike." under his breath, but no one could prove it in a court of law. "We got zombies. I'll keep on smashing any that get too close until one of us gets a better idea. We can ask the big questions when we have more time to think."
