GLaDOS reprieve [Time Bendy - pre GTFO plottage]

Would she ever find the ‘cake’?

Eve shuddered in her sleep, and, in doing so, managed to shake herself awake. The sounds and images of her manufactured dream faded slowly. She could still sense them for the first few seconds after waking... echoing reminders of something that her conscious mind wanted forgotten. But even as they faded, the baneful chorus was replaced by something else. She was… alone.

C..Claire? Placing her feet underneath herself and standing up slowly, clearing the rest of the aftereffects with slow, even breaths, Eve peered into the darkness ahead of her. She shuddered again, this time from the cold. Her wet, blonde hair that was slicked back on her head and neck, didn’t help.

Sherry?…Leon? Eve took one tentative but wobbly step forward. When nothing reached out to grab her, she took another. Then another. She wondered what would happen when he reached the end of the long winding path ahead. Would the people she knew be there? Or would she just keep walking and walking and walking...

By the time she had made her way down several hallways and made four turns through the various, labyrinth-like organic corridors, she was walking with ease. But with ease, came an automaton like regard for her surroundings as her pre-programmed mind led itself in whichever direction it had too.

OOC: Ack, I'm Late… as per usual. Just wondering if anyone could drop her off somewhere with those ‘left behind’. Would be a great help <3

No one ever noticed the things they forgot, at least until they try to remember. It wasn't until Leon had done yet another head count of the kids that he noticed that he was one short. Which he shouldn't be, since Sherry, Roxie, Will, that boy Vega, and Yuri were all where they were supposed to be.

But he knew someone was missing. Someone whose name and little face had twice now been forced into some part of his mind he would never look at. She was gone, again, right out from under his own nose this time, and he never knew.

No. That's not right. He did know, he just never knew that he knew she was gone, never noticed that he didn't notice the missing girl. Which only made what GLaDOS did all the more insidious.

If this mission succeeded, and they all got control of this ship, making sure GLaDOS was purged from the system-- with extreme prejudice-- was going to be a priority.

He left the rest of Team Left Behind, simply telling them tersely that he had something important he needed to check on, he'd be back as soon as he could, and to contact him if anything happened.

He didn't know where Eve was now, but since she was back among the rest of them now, he had an idea of where she would head. So he went to the Precinct, the closest thing she had to a 'home' there, first and waited outside for her there.

Yes, it was Leon. More heavily armed and heavily armored that he usually was, but it was still him.

The moment he spotted her, he was already on his way to her, and met her half way. He was relieved she remembered him. After all, if GLaDOS could make him forget her, who knew what it could make her forget.

He picked her up easily, holding her securely for a moment. He didn't even know how long she had been gone. Let alone back again.

"Hey, Eve." His voice was softer than usual, a tone he didn't use very often. "I missed you too. I may have to put a bell on you so we don't lose you again," he half joked.

"Are you okay?"

Later on...

Paco was feeling more restless than usual, so he'd left his usual route around the ship in favor of one that doubled back more often than not and, oddly, didn't seem to have quite as many people on it. Hoping for a distraction, he poked his head into the Medbay, and spotted a girl he'd forgotten that he'd forgotten.

Stupid Stacy.

"Eve! Hey niña, Stacy finally let you out to play again?"
