Relax: Unconscious land is starting to get to you. [Open]

She hadn't kept track of the days much anymore. She did know that when she tried to sleep though, it wasnt a nice fitful sleep. She hadnt expected as much to begin with, considering she hadn't had that kind of sleep since being here, but somehow, her dreams had gotten progressively worse. Now there would be glimpses of things, bits and pieces of a memeory she was only starting to unravel, a secret fear she had that would make her feel apprehensive and uneasy when she woke up. She alwaus seemed to wake up the same way too: with a start, tears running down her cheeks. She couldn't figure out why she would wake up like that in the first place, but she would somehow get the feeling that she was forgetting something, and for a moment, there was an air of somebody she cared about sharing her pain.

It was a memory she grasped at, almost had then lost again.

This time, she just sat up, wiping her face and taking an exasperated breath. Not much had changed: they'd gotten a new person is the brig, who was just as likely to be here a long time like anyone else. Besides, Katara was curious as to who were the new arrivals on the ship: would they be anyone she knew?

Bart had been pretty steadily covering every open inch of the ship at superspeed. It only made sense that eventually he'd take the right passageway that took him down to the brig and-- wasn't Robin in there for some reason? Bart stopped and cleared his throat. "Hello?"

Katara looked up and saw something like a blur. She was confused for a moment before she realized that yes, this was an actual person, just moving really, really fast. Again, someone she wished she could have mety him personally, but so mych for that.

"Hi," she said, from her cell, trying to run a hand through her hair. "Who's there?"

"It's Impulse!" Bart zoomed over to her cell and peered in. "Is Robin in here? I mean, you don't sound like him but is he somewhere here? Who are you?"

Katara was a little taken back, but laughed when she said she didn't soun like Robin. "Uh, no, I would hope Robin doesnt sound like me or it'd be hard to take him seriously! He's in a few cells down, actually. My name's Katara."

She thought a moment. "You know, you're definitely new here, but you have superpowers like the others, don't you?"

Carol had been meaning to try to find Katara after the mess with that thing, but she hadn't wanted to leave her little paradise. After all it wasn't everyday she got taken out by a Nick Fury wannabe. But her pride aside, she wanted to make sure the girl was alright. And when she'd learned she'd been arrested, well Carol didn't know what to think.

A part of her was proud that Katara stood up for what she believed in, another part wanted to yell at her for being an idiot, and the final part was just thankful she wasn't hurt. Carol wasn't sure if she liked having her emotions back or not. They were confusing her.

"Katara? Sweetie, you in here still?" Her voice was soft as she made her way into the cells. Her plant suit was back the way it should be. She knew she could walk around in her Ms. Marvel costume, but she didn't feel like doing that. She wasn't here as Ms. Marvel anyways.

"Yeah, I'm a speedster. I'm reallyreallyreally fast. Nice to meet you, Katara. Is that like the ninja sword? Are you a ninja? Do you have superpowers?" He frowned a little and looked at her more seriously. "Why're you locked up? You don't look like a bad guy. Course, Robin's not a bad guy either. Were you guys framed?"

"..."

Well, that was new. She guessed he wasn't just a speedster in running, but in just about everything. She would have to get used to that.

"Ok, I'll try to answer that as best I can. It's Katara, I think you're thinking of a katana. No, I'm not a ninja, and technically, what I'm able to do is bend any kind of water to do what I want. It's a little like a superpower, but more of a martial art."

She took a breath here. "I dunno about framed. Robin and I are here because we were trying to incapacitate an alien slug that's able to manipulate people's brains. We did this even though it was decided by trial that the slug should live, so it was wrong, but we were trying to look out for the safety of the crew. Apparently people prefer to think of us as cold blooded murderers though."

"That's stupid! Killing slugs isn't murder! I mean, it's not really nice but they're bugs, right? It was manipulating people's brains? How do you bend water? Isn't it liquid?" Without waiting for an answer, he was on the other side of the jail. "Rob, you're in here for killing a slug?"

"It's... complicated," Tim said, blinking a little at Bart's sudden appearance. "When did you get here?"

"Not me! I just think you're all stupid.."

"I dunno. I guess it hasn't been that long. Wasn't expecting you to be locked up! I know your name!"

Katara sighed. "Yeah, there's more to it than that. A lot more. But you know, I understand why they had to put us here. Things are pretty complicated all over, and they're trying to keep us together. It isn't easy."

At the newcomer, who hadn't introduced himself, Katara bristled. "Well no one asked you, so that's ok!"

Tim gave him a confused look. "Well, of course you do..." Oh. Wait. Bart looked young. Younger than Tim remembered him, anyway. "Impulse?" he asked, frowning a little.

"Well, it was a surprise to hear you were one of the people 'arrested.'" Selene said, standing outside Katara's cell. She held up a hand and waved. "No drinks, sadly. Can't get those out of the sensorium. How you holding up?"

Bart nodded. "Duh. Are you from the future too? Static told me I'm the Flash or something. But then he said Green Arrow dies and comes back as Superboy so I'm not really sure I can believe him. But apparently we're friends in the future! He knew my name anyway, so I figure he's probably telling the truth."

Katara saw Selene, and gave her a nervous smile, then laugh. "Oh, that's ok. I think I can do without the drink this time! It would probably make me feel worse!"

Katara looked down a little. "I've been better. I've had a lot of time for reflection though. Why I'm here, what I have to do when I get out. Not to mention I have a lot of homework to finish once I'm out of here, and tons of training."

Selene rested her arms through the arms, laughing a bit. "I can see if I can bring you you're homework until they let you out? Might be young enough you get let off easy. Some advantages to being younger, you know."

Usually Allen comes to visit Leela, and this visit is probably no exception, but he stops in front of Katara's cell before moving on.

"Hey. Will said you might appreciate this."

He holds out a datapad with several texts programmed onto it.

"School reading list."

Katara smiled at that. "Thanks for the homework help, I'm going to need it. Being here is no excuse for getting behind. My old master would be very disappointed in me if I didn't study as much here as I did there!"

But at the next words, Katara did look a little saddened. "That's good to know, but I'm not going to count on it. What I did could have hurt a lot of other people. I don't deserve any different treatement from anyone else here."

Katara smiled, happy to see Allen again, however brief he was.

"Yeah, thanks! I've been meaning to get to this. Now I don't have to get farher behind. Thank you so much!"

"Always happy to help. And it's not like there's much else to do besides think in here anyway, so it might as well be productive thinking," Selene said.

"Why did you do it?" Selene asked. "I mean, I can understand wanting to kill the slug. Personally, I think that would have been the better idea. I just thought I should respect the jury's decision. Why didn't you?" She asked.

"Don't mention it."

She'll notice, if she looks at the datapad, that a number of the texts are written by him.

"You're not missing much anyway. I think only Meluly and Sheeana are holding their classes right now. It will probably be a little while longer before everything's organized into a cohesive schoolday."

Slobo wasn't sure how to handle everything he had heard from Kon and Virgil. He knew it had been a while, but he missed so much, he wasn't even sure if he felt like a part of their world anymore. Everything had seemingly fallen apart since his "death", and nothing seemed right.

He was a relic from a bygone era. As he began to wander the ship, he caught Tim's scent, and followed it to the precinct. This place was impressive, almost a city in and of itself. As he walked by the cells looking for the Boy Wonder, he saw that many of them were occupied. Finally, he stopped in front of a girl who couldn't have been older than fourteen.

"Seriously, kid, ain't ya a bit young to be tried as an adult? I'd use that, if I were you."

Katara stared at the datapad a moment before understanding what she was looking at. She was, after all, still getting used to all of this new technology.

"I know, but considering how behind my world is when it comes to technology, there's a lot I'm going to have to cover. It's one thing to not know basic physics and math, but its another to walk around the ship like some kind of..."

Ugh. She was thinking in Brainy's terms now. Savage.

"Yeah, you're right. I mean, there is talking to the other prisoners, but I think they all have their own things to think about. Even if they do finally release me early, I'm still going to see what happens to all the other prisoners."

I owe them that at least.

"Because I've let things like this go over my head before Selene. Everytime I think that it will solve itself, something bad happns to someone I care about. Even if I don't like everyone on the ship, I don't want anyone getting hurt. And it only takes one bad egg here to figure out how to release the Yeerk, and make trouble."
