Newbie Meet N' Greet

Meet n' Greet, smell my feet, gimme something good to eat! Unfortunately, the newbie meet and greet takes place the same time the command staff is congregating, so they might be a little late to the party.

But the crew is there to welcome the newcomers and explain their situation. At the end of the milling and spilling about, the command staff is going to start a general meeting to apprise everyone of their situation and discuss their next course of action:

Getting off the damn ship.

Bart scowled a little. "They look like flight rings."

"In that they're rings, and embossed with someone similar to the Legion insignia, yes--" It's a T rather than an L though. "--but they aren't flight rings. Anything in a ring would be similar to a flight ring in design, wouldn't it."

"...my Flash ring's different." Though Bart almost jumped off a cliff when he got that one too. Brainy didn't need to know that, though.

"And I'm sure your fellow Flashes had to extricate you from nearest tall building or edifice when you received said Flash ring. Regardless, just because it's a ring, it doesn't mean it automatically has a flight function."

He's a Brainiac. You don't have to tell him for him to deduce what probably happened.

Hmph. Bart did not have to answer that heinous (and true) accusation. "...but yours can fly, right? D'you have some that can fly? Can I have one of the flying ones?"

"We're in possession of a very limited supply of flight rings, and as you have superspeed, if they were to be distributed to anyone else, they would most certainly be to someone that has no powers and needs the advantage of flight," Brainy says.

Just to make it abundantly clear...

"You're not getting a flight ring."

Bart frowned. "But Braaaaainy! I'm practically Legion!"

"You only received one vote when the Legion considered you for membership. You're not even an honorary member."

Bart sulked. "Jenni woulda voted for me if she'd been there."

"Most likely. However, two votes is not enough for admittance into the Legion of Superheroes, so it would have been moot," he points out.

"Fiiiiiine. Don't see why Superboy gets a flight ring when he can fly anyways and I don't. Next it'll turn out that even the one vote was a mistake and none of you wanted me around. Least Cissie and Kon like me." Bart sighed sadly.

"It was a valid vote." He won't say how he knows that.

"However, while your comm-ring may not be a flight ring--this--" He hands him the omnicom. "--is a standard Legion omnicom. Just like every single Legionnaire has."

And now you have one, too, Bart.

A sigh. "Try not to break it."
