Newbie Meet N' Greet

Meet n' Greet, smell my feet, gimme something good to eat! Unfortunately, the newbie meet and greet takes place the same time the command staff is congregating, so they might be a little late to the party.

But the crew is there to welcome the newcomers and explain their situation. At the end of the milling and spilling about, the command staff is going to start a general meeting to apprise everyone of their situation and discuss their next course of action:

Getting off the damn ship.

Buffy chuckled. "I talk a lot funny, I know. I guess it comes with the territory of being named Buffy," she grinned. "I...fight supernatural creatures. Demons and stuff. Keep the world safe. And you're right. We do need to have that trust factor and be a team and...it's good that I just had to do a huge team effort thing, coz it's good training for something that's this massive in it's everything." She pauses, thinking for a moment, before adding, "You seem like a nice guy too."

In the right light, Jamie may - just may - be looking a little pink around the edges. "Thank ye." He clears his throat abruptly, and decides that perhaps talking about fighting is a much better idea, all things considered. "Supernatural creatures, like demons, and...I'm guessing vampires, from what ye named yourself as?"

Ah! Yes! Fighty-talk! Fighty-talk good! "Vampires mostly. 'Cause they tend to be, like, everywhere. They're the ants of the demon world," she explained. "But other things. Demons. Ghosts. There was this time where there was a robot. And this time where a demon made its way into the computer and then came out as a robot. Or something. I'm not really mechanical girl."

"Oh, I've fought lots of robots," Jamie comments cheerfully. "There were the Yeti - they looked like Abominable Snowmen but were robots. And then there were the Krotons, and the Cybermen...no, wait. The Cybermen are cyborgs. I've met a cyborg here who says they are - but he's much better than Cybermen. And of course there were the Daleks. I'm not sure what they are other then verra, verra nasty."

Daleks? Why does that...sounds so familiar?

Buffy furrowed her brow and listened. "So you've had experience fighting robotic nasties, I've done it with vamp - I mean I've had experience fighting vampires and other demonic nasties. Clearly, Stacy's preparing for every contingency."

Fortunately Jamie doesn't catch that slip of Buffy's - or if he did, he's assuming it's just part of her normal way of speaking. "Aye, and I'm sure there's other things that other people can deal with, like computer germs and such." He means viruses, not germs. He's at least a little familiar with computers, but misses some of the terminology. Speaking of which, though...

"Ye should get one of those wee bitty computers, er, Omnicoms. They're verra handy to have."

"Is that the little cell phone computer thing that Pikachu was having me use so I could understand him?" Buffy asked. "Because, yeah, those were totally nifty. Great reception and everything." She smiled at Jamie. "Do we need to, like, pay for them or...how does this work?"

"Pika...who?" Jamie scratches his head for a moment. "Which one is he?" This crew is awfully big, and so is the ship, and he hasn't had time to completely go through and try and figure out who everyone is.

"I dinna think we need to pay for them, no. It's not like we came here with money, after all. One of the Brainiac 5's is apparently the one who made it - not the cyborg one, the other one. Maybe ye can ask him?"

"....There's two...of the same person? Or..one's a...a...cyborg?" Please someone, reassure her that Buffybot is not on board. "I'll definitely go look for him. Them. Something." She furrowed her brow, obviously confused. "Pikachu? He's this cute little yellow...mouse guinea pig thing that shoots lightning?"

"I'm not entirely sure," Jamie says, "They have the same name, and I /think/ they're both green, but I've only met the one." Probably not so comforting. "Like I said, for a cyborg, he's not so bad. I think there's some others that have similar names, too." Like the whole mess of Batmans running around.

He nods at the description of Pikachu. "I may have seen that. Him. It's a big place."

There's a pause as he belatedly realizes he's taken up an awful lot of Buffy's time. Not that he's minded - not at /all/ - but he should let her go, explore. Get creeped out by the sleeping bunks.

So it's with some reluctance he says, "I should probably let ye go and get settled. But, if ye get bored or if ye need help with anything, let me know?"

Buffy grinned at Jamie. "Yeah. I do need to make with the explorinating and the sightseeing and the finding of my best friend." And the potential busting him out of prison if it's at all possible. "I'm guessing I can contact you through the omnicom?"

Jamie gives her a warm smile back, then nods. "Aye, ye can." He seems pleased when she mentions having a friend on board and the smile actually gets a little bigger. "Oh, ye already know someone here? Good luck with finding them, then." He sincerely means that, having found himself in a similar situation when he first got here.

He turns to go, but pauses for a moment. "Ah. Be careful if ye poke about Weapons and Possessions. There's some verra dangerous stuff in there that doesn't look it. Death pens and the like."

And on that cheerful note, he waves and slips off into the crowd. Well, he certainly looks more cheerful then when he came in, anyway.

Buffy was really going to need a drink after all this meet and greet stuff was over.

This place was getting weirder and weirder by the minute.
