Newbie Meet N' Greet

Meet n' Greet, smell my feet, gimme something good to eat! Unfortunately, the newbie meet and greet takes place the same time the command staff is congregating, so they might be a little late to the party.

But the crew is there to welcome the newcomers and explain their situation. At the end of the milling and spilling about, the command staff is going to start a general meeting to apprise everyone of their situation and discuss their next course of action:

Getting off the damn ship.

Chris smiled as he clapped Jill on the back, even if he had to cringe slightly at the skin-tight suit she wore, bringing back memories of the encounter they had what was just a couple days before for him.

"Hey, I wouldn't dream of kicking anyone's ass before you showed up. I mean, we're partners for a reason, right?"

Claire hadn't missed a podpop since her own, and every one had yielded someone new that she or those close to her knew, so she'd made sure to come up for this one. She was just by the entrance looking around when she spotted a very familiar face, and her eyes widened a little, briefly rooted to the spot before shaking herself out of it and rushing her way through the crowd.

"Chris!" she yelled at him when she was almost there, just to make sure he didn't move off anywhere, and a moment later she was on him, slowing down just enough before impact so she wouldn't hurt herself, completely oblivious to any conversations she was interrupting. Part of her had hoped he wasn't on this ship, was safe back in their world fighting Bioterrorism, but most of her was just very glad to see him because she'd missed her big brother something fierce.

Chris knew that voice. There was no way he could mistake it. And that particular tone was as good as a gun being shot, in a way, and he knew to brace himself for the incoming projectile.

"Claire!" And then he caught his sister in a great bear hug. Like her, Chris wished she wasn't here, but at the very least, he could take solice in being able to just be with her and protect her.

Jill smiled and stepped back, letting the siblings have their reunion. Chris had talked about her often enough and Jill had gotten to know Claire in the past few years enough to have a great deal of respect for her.

"Chris, hey I'm gonna look around, get an idea of what all is going on here."

She eased back to let them have a chance to talk without feeling compelled to include her in the conversation.

"Oh no you don't, Valentine," Chris said, one arm around his sister's shoulder, the other pulling Jill back and coming to rest on his parner's.

"Not every day I get to have both of my favorite ladies in the same room like this. You're not getting out of this that easy."

She was grinning broadly when Chris pulled Jill around as well, and the smile changed briefly to a surprised look.

"Jill!" She glanced up at Chris briefly, before back at the other woman. "You're-" tact, Redfield. Tact. "It's good to see you," she managed to recover, smiling again. Last she'd heard Jill was missing and presumed dead. So, this was another person from their neck of the woods who was supposed to be dead but actually... not.

"Hello Claire."

And the auburn haired woman smiled in greeting to her partner and best friend's sister. Jill blinked a moment though. Claire looked older, something about the roundness of her face thinning out, and the look in her eyes, Jill had seen life age people like that before.

the notice was all she had time for before Chris swept her up as well and hugged her to him. Not that she was struggling all that much, she'd missed the big lug.

"Ok Redfield," Amending that after she realized there were two of those now, "You got me Chris, just let me breathe."

"You also need to give me a chance to say 'hi'."

Leon came over after hearing Claire's high pitched scream, and was just a little off to the side, happily watching the family reunion.

[identity profile] pickin-locks.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Jill had to blink a little, Kennedy? "Leon, looks like Stacy has a thing for people connected to Raccoon City and Umbrella."

But hey, this was a good thing, running into people. Jill wriggled out of Chris' hold. Dear god when had he gotten arms like that? She shook her head and grasped Leon's hand, shaking it firmly and giving his shoulder a squeeze with her other hand.

"Good to see you."

[identity profile] bsaa-ace.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris Grinned at Leon as he noticed the man approaching. "Hey Leon. I'd offer to shake your hand, but, I've kind of got my hands full."

He grinned, looking from his sister to his partner, giving both a soft shoulder squeeze.

Claire was obviously more than content with Chris holding onto her, although she did look at Leon to give him a smile. It faded a second later as something suddenly dawned on her and she tilted her head a little, looking around.

"Where's Sherry?"

[identity profile] bsaa-ace.livejournal.com 2009-10-02 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris was just content to keep the two most important people in his life close, though the look on Claire's face, and the way she regarded Leon triggered something in Chris.

He couldn't explain it, but he felt like someone was going to need to do some explaining, soon.

"Sherry?"
governmentninja: (Blown Away)

[personal profile] governmentninja 2009-10-02 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's good to see you too, Jill." The two didn't exactly know each other well, but he was still glad to see her. Particularly since she had been reported missing since an encounter with Wesker.

Of course, the smile on his face faded a little as soon as Claire mentioned Sherry. Time for 'Uncle Chris' to meet his niece.

"Uh, she's... hold on."

Letting go of Jill's hand, he put his fingers in his mouth and let out a loud wolf whistle. That should get Sherry running over, though in the back of his mind, he wondered if Ashley would be following her.

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Sherry had opted to keep out of the way for the new wave of people that had spilled into the observation deck from down below. That meant it kept her away from any zombies (even if they weren't technically zomibes), or trying to explain that things were going to be (probably) fine. So, she'd sat near a window watching the Bleed go by when a whistle stopped her train of thought.

Dad was calling. Part of her peevishly demanded that she not go. She was not a pet! But the other part of her reminded Sherry it was probably important, she she got up and skittered through the crowd until she found her parents.

"Mom, Dad, you called? I wa--" she started when she looked up. So it wasn't just her parents. It was her parents and some very... well, the man's arms looked bigger than her head and the woman seemed decidedly stiff, if relaxed. Sherry's expression shifted from sleepy acceptance to immediate suspicion, she half-hid herself behind Leon, and watched the two new people.

[identity profile] bsaa-ace.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Chris couldn't help but give Sherry a rather surprised look. And, oddly, there was a bit of a resemblance to Leon and Claire. She looked like Claire through the face, and she had Leon's hair. The smoke generated by the gears turning in his head was almost visible. He leaned his head to the side, and whispered in Claire's ear as he put two and two together.

"Claire... who is this? And more importantly, why did she call you mom?"
letmelive: (uhhhh)

[personal profile] letmelive 2009-10-03 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Claire realized in retrospect that this probably should have been done somewhere with less people. Clearing her throat, she forced a laugh and shook her head, patting Chris's shoulder while gently prying herself away from him.

"I know it's been a while since you've seen her, but she's still your niece, Chris." The look she was giving him was begging him not to make a scene, and she leaned in, speaking quiet enough so only he could hear her.

"I'll explain when we're around less people just don't make a scene, okay?"

[identity profile] pickin-locks.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh! Sherry...right. Wow..yeah Chris you remember, it's just been ages and you know..head trauma."

Jill fumbled through the lie as she picked up on Claire's direction. She wasn't sure exactly what was going on but she did know that Chris was absurdly protective of his sister and that attitude in front of a child would not be a good thing.

Jill's hand slid across Chris' back, her expression begging him to just go along with this for a moment.

[identity profile] bsaa-ace.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Chris, to his credit, didn't make a scene overtly. Instead, he just stood there, dumbfounded. He let his jaw go slack as he cycled his gaze from Sherry to Leon and Claire.

[identity profile] in-venting.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
There were some things that were common sense, like not waving a red flag before a bull. However, Sherry's expression didn't change and continued to eye the bigger man with marked suspicion.

"What's the matter with him?" Sherry asked, her tone painfully blunt. She mentally plotted out her escape route in the event one of the strange adults grabbed at her. It seemed like her mother was doing some kind of damage control, and the stiff brunette lady was helping her along.

But that didn't ease Sherry one iota. "Did I say something wrong?"
governmentninja: (Crouching)

[personal profile] governmentninja 2009-10-03 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Leon placed his hand lightly on Sherry's shoulder. "It's ok, sweetheart. You didn't say anything wrong."

It was probably a bad idea for him to talk and draw Chris' attention to himself, especially since Chris looked like he had been taking tips from Krauser's personal trainer.

"We should probably find somewhere a little quieter to talk."

[identity profile] bsaa-ace.livejournal.com 2009-10-03 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris blinked several more times, as things started to settle in. And despite the pointed glare he shot at Leon for a half a second, he forced a smile on his face.

"Niece... right. Uh, Claire, could I have a word with you? Y'know... in private?"
letmelive: (and we're moving along)

[personal profile] letmelive 2009-10-03 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Claire nodded her head, simultaneously grabbing her brother's hand.

"Absolutely, come on. Let's head down to the city." She turned around and gave Leon a brief look, before she started off through the crowd, towards the Hub. Sooner they got this over with, the better.
governmentninja: (Daydreaming)

[personal profile] governmentninja 2009-10-03 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Leon caught the look from Claire, then looked over at Jill and shrugged a bit. Apparently it was up to him to explain things to her.

"I... guess we're giving you the grand tour," he told Jill. He looked briefly at Sherry while he considered where to go, then waved both Sherry and Jill to follow him. "We'll show you around, and give you the whole run down along the way."
