Newbie Meet N' Greet

Meet n' Greet, smell my feet, gimme something good to eat! Unfortunately, the newbie meet and greet takes place the same time the command staff is congregating, so they might be a little late to the party.

But the crew is there to welcome the newcomers and explain their situation. At the end of the milling and spilling about, the command staff is going to start a general meeting to apprise everyone of their situation and discuss their next course of action:

Getting off the damn ship.

There are many strange things and strange people on board this ship, and Sharp Tongue may be one of the stranger.

A velociraptor circles past as she stalks the edge of the room, hand claws tucked up against her chest and moving with easy strides. Her yellow and black hide is painted with red and white slashes all down her body and hanging against one side is a large, dark brown triceratops leather bag with feathers, teeth, and claws hanging from it by way of decoration.

She stares at the newcomers to the crew, watching them with a predatory, evaluating air. Then she notices the one with the strange head covering.

He gets a much longer unnerving velociraptor stare as she tries to decide what it is.

As more and more gather, Jean-Paul began to realize that most, if not everyone, here wasn't from his world. Good. The less they knew of his existence, the better.

Then, he was struck by a strange feeling. A feeling that something... or someONE was watching him. His head snapped over to where he thought he was being stared at, raising one of his bladed gloves as if he was ready to strike out with it.

The raptor doesn't seem unnerved. She ducks her head forward and makes a snorting noise.

"Do you threaten me, human?"

Sharp Tongue's own is a combative species, but it never ceases to amuse her when they do this. She's a shaman, not a warrior, though.

Underneath the mask, Jean-Paul's eyes went wide. There, right in front of him was a RAPTOR. This? Didn't make sense at all - and he was trained by a order that could be traced back centuries!

"Y-You're... a dinosaur?!" he said, lowering his glove in surprise. He shouldn't have lowered his guard, but this? This was more than a shock to him.

"Yes," Sharp Tongue replies dryly. "I am Sharp Tongue. Shaman-in-waiting of the Swiftclaw Tribe."

She pauses, then adds, "I am used to the staring." She's certainly gotten plenty of it here. It's not exactly comforting being around a raptor, and she generally likes being around people as much as people like being around her.

Jean-Paul finally stood down and turned away, focusing his attention back onto the crowd. "I am Batman." Without turning back, he continued. "Why are we here? All I know is that we're here for some sort of... purpose."

Sharp Tongue also looks back to the group.

"I do not know," she replies. There's a testy hint to it, she's frustrated and annoyed by this ship. Shamans, even shamans in waiting, are busy raptors.

"There's a voice that talks to us and orders us and we are trapped here. There is a broken city-place where nothing lives and nothing grows. There is no hunting ground or prey, and there are no raptors here but my tribemate and I."

Overall, it's a fairly damning assessment from her standpoint.

"Then, this place is dead." Jean-Paul said. "...and we're most likely nothing more than playthings for that... voice."

He balled one of his hands into a fist. "...and I'm certain no one's found a way out, have they?"

This was annoying AND angering.

"No," Sharp Tongue chuffs. "They've been too busy fighting with each other. Stupid."

Not that she's done much. But she won't mention that. Conveniently.

Jean-Paul snorted. Infighting. This was why he preferred to work alone. No one to get in his way.

"If I have to? I'll tear this place apart to find a way out, if no one else will."

Was he serious? In a way, yes. Could he do it? Probably not.

"Then perhaps I will follow you," remarks the raptor. She seems, in some inexplicable way, sarcastic. Probably because she is.

"We shall see if one human can do what many have failed to." She really doubts it, but it should be fun to watch!
