That wasn't me. Was it you? (open)

Barbara left Marco with the omnicoms to see if she could find some other way to be useful. Something that didn't involve an advanced knowledge of technology created hundreds of years after she had been born. Clearly she'd have to pick up some new skills, which did not worry her but in the situation, locked in some unknown part of the ship, those skills would have come in handy.

As she walked down a corridor, her mind drifted to the various things she could learn about. The unfortunate thing was, Barbara hadn't found a role on the ship that even remotely related to that of an historian, so no matter what she decided to learn, it'd be from square one. But maybe she hadn't been looking hard enough, or she hadn't met the right people.

She stopped walking and looked around her. Just a moment ago, Barbara could have sworn she heard someone talking to her but she hadn't been listening. It could have been her imagination, she was alone in the corridor after all. Maybe there was someone in one of the crew's quarters just up ahead.

((OOC: This is time displacement/ghosts plot I was talking about here.))

Sakura paused in order to listen. She made a face, not all that amused by the ship's antics.

"Trick," she said with a sigh. "If it were working, we'd actually be moving by now."

She stepped back, running a hand through her hair. "Should we see if Marco's had any progress getting the omnicomms up and talking again?"

She nodded. "Unless he's run off on us. Can't hurt to go check."

Even if chances were, he'd still have nothing. Stacy, you were a blight upon freedom, you spaceship, you!

Sakura shrugged, trying to get a good idea of how long it could be. "I don't know. The ship handles dust to different degrees, and what we found here might indicate weeks, to months, to centuries. We don't know how long the ship has been functional, let alone... well, much of anything useful."

Like how to control the available systems.

"That we're told we're fiction for other people, but don't worry, that's just a coincidence." Sakura didn't buy much of anything told to her here.

"The ship clones people in order to feed creatures that are completely insane human bodies. It can clone replacement body parts for us on short notice. It can manipulate the genes of an organism in order to encourage or discourage certain behaviors. I don't think designing us is beyond it's capacity."

She paused. "They even have the ability to change, overwrite, and probably introduce memories. How secure are we in saying we need to have always been real to matter now?"

"Operate without us. Truly hate us, maybe. The real answer is we don't know her limitations." Sakura wasn't certain Stacy entirely understood their limitations either.
