After all, he didn't plan on hiding anything about what had happened to him or his status of being monitored if anyone asked. If he was anything, it was honest--sometime to the point of tactlessness.
To anyone looking at him, he cut an almost pitiful figure. His green skin inordinately pale, his blond hair only just starting to grow back, his already-lean body too-thin and almost emaciated, he looked like someone that had survived some sort of disaster or wasting disease. As he walked onto Obs Deck, he fiddled with the metal band on his wrist, which, curiously, looked completely solid all the way around and yet too narrow to take off.
Yet the way he held up his chin and scanned the room with bright eyes suggested that even if he'd undergone some recent hardship or illness, he was still in possession of his dignity--and maybe his ego, as well.
A thought occurred to him, as he scanned the crowd and remembered a face he was hoping to see. A furry face.
"Koko!" Brainy called, bending down to look under tables, knowing Koko sometimes liked to hide. "Koko, are you here? You had better not be hiding, you flea-bitten nuisance."

Sorry for the wait! Crazy weekend.
Brainy stood up from looking under a table to put his hands on his hips.
"It's entirely possible he's gallivanting around the ship in other places or that he's been repodded, but he always did like to go where people were congregating, so I thought he might be here."
He hoped he might be here, rather.
That's ok
But it was a big ship and who knows where a monkey might be. "I'll help you look," he offered. "If he's not here then we can work through places where lots of other people are and places he liked to go."
Re: That's ok
Awkward. It was too awkward to tell a stranger a superintelligent monkey was your first friend. Why had he almost told a stranger that? His emotional control was clearly still not the best after everything that had happened to him.
"--my first pet."
