Kaya, in the meanwhile, was not above creating a little more havoc sheeting the ground with a very strong layer of ice beneath them so actually scrambling to to pull their forces together would be more of an issue. The Kessek may have formidable armor and strength but it was would hardly do the good if they didn't reach their intended.
