Green Is So Last Season [Open!]

Ever since Rarity popped, there was one thing on the ship which irked her most. The hideous colour of the plant suits. She disliked green a lot and she vowed to change the garment's colours. She had a handful of plant suits laid out on the table in front of her and she levitated one, eyeing the material and poking it with her hoof.

"I didn't know you could make clothes from this kind of material... Let's see what you're made of so I can change your colour."

It did appear to others that the unicorn was talking to an inanimate object.

((OOC: The mods have granted me permission to change the colour of the plantsuits for variety! Your characters can wear their favourite colours now, I guess? =D))

...Rainbow Dash had gotten so distracted looking for Rarity that she'd forgotten to look where she was going. But this wasn't the first time she'd smashed into something at speed, and it sure wouldn't be the last.

A moment later she trotted up to the table, looking none the worse for wear. "Hey Rarity, can you make a suit that lets someone go into space?"

Rarity was startled by the loud thud and lost concentration, making the plant suit drop back on the table. "Ah, Rainbow Dash! What are you doing here?"

She blinked at the rainbow pony's question. "Space? The inky darkness of space? Why would somepony want to go to such a dreadful place?"

"Well, we ARE in it now. I don't know why she wants to go, I didn't ask." Details, details. Results were what mattered! "But I figured if anypony could make one, you could."

"She? Who is this pony? It's not any three of you, is it?" Rarity furrowed her brows with worry.

"I'm not sure how it's like in space though. I know a lot of protection is required."

"The big things is the lack of air, or at least that's what I hear from this girl. I met her down in the City, she has a giant robot that can destroy buildings. Faster than me," Rainbow Dash admitted. "But not with more style!"

Rarity frowned a little. "A suit to contain air? That would be difficult. Wait, what's a robot?" She raised her eyebrows slightly, surprisingly unfamiliar with the term despite being on the shop for a while.

"Imagine a metal statue that can move and wreck things," Rainbow said. "And this one was SUPER huge!"

"Sounds like a rampaging dragon to me." Rarity replied, a little distracted about robots and space suits.

"The only suits I know of at the moment are these ghastly plant suits." She made a face of disgust.

"Naw, it looks like a human... although come to think of it, don't humans look just a little bit like baby dragons?" With the bipedal nature and the opposable thumbs and all. The thought brought Rainbow Dash up short. "Hey, are we sure the tall ones are really adults? Or maybe if they get greedy, they turn into, like, different kinds of humans altogether!"

That made her laugh. "I assure you they are adults. Just steer clear from the ones that make you shiver inside." Their instinctive animal-like sixth sense usually worked well.

"Why don't you help me out with this plant suit first and then I'll think of some ideas for this space wear you've been talking about?"

"Okay, but... what can I do?" She looked at the suit skeptically. If it came to putting one thought its paces at speed, sure, she could do that like nopony else, but fashion...?

"Ideas on how a leaf gets its colour." Rarity understood the basics of dye and knew they had a source, usually a flower. She was unsure how a flower got its colour though.

"Who do I look like, Twilight? Till I came to Ponyville I always thought it was unicorn season-change magic." Of course, up in Cloudsdale they didn't exactly have a lot of trees anyway, so it wasn't the best place to learn about them.

Rarity laughed nervously. "I can't believe I totally forgot about that. I thought two heads will be better than one."

She stared hard at the suit to get inspiration but there was none. "This would be in Fluttershy's expertise." The pony let out a sigh. She was so determined to get rid of the hideous green but she was stuck in the process.

"Are you kidding? Rarity, this is your expertise! It's just another kind of fashion!" She lifted a foreleg to nudge Rarity, playfully but also in challenge. "If ANYpony can do this, it's Ponyville's -- no, it's EQUESTRIA's greatest designer!"

And it was just that little nudge and stress that got Rarity to literally work her magic. She focused really hard on the plant suit and found that in each leaf, the green was heavily concentrated in one segment. Deciding that was the spot she needed to change, she willed a colour changing spell and within seconds, the suit was bright yellow.

"All right Rarity!" Rainbow Dash cheered. "See, I told you you could do it!"

Rarity heaved a sigh of relief and panted slightly. "Thank you, Rainbow Dash. It was difficult work but extremely rewarding." She magically wiped some sweat off her forehead with a handkerchief.

"That was a really hard spell?" She didn't understand why that would be, it was just changing color, but Rarity would know. Rainbow reached out to poke the changed suit. "And is it still... you know, does it do the same stuff still?"

"It is not a hard spell usually but a leaf is very different from cloth so same spell would work differently on two different materials." Rarity explained and nodded at Rainbow Dash's second question.

"Yes, it still does what it... does." She did not want to wear it either. The unicorn only wanted to make the suits a little more appealing to wear.

"So besides color, can you make it... you know, cooler?" Oh no, Rainbow, not THIS again.

Rarity raised an eyebrow. "Rainbow Dash, if you want a Wonderbolts flight suit, I'll be happy to do it. Trust me, you do not want to be wearing leaves while flying through the air at your speed." She pointed to the plant suit with disgust.

A Wonderbolts flight suit!? Dash's eyes went gleefully wide for a moment... then shrank back down to a more somber expression as she considered it. "Nah. When I wear a Wonderbolts flight suit, it needs to be because I'm a Wonderbolt and not before.

"What about goggles? Could you do those? Some eye protection would be nice."

"That I can do, Rainbow Dash." Rarity smiled and place a hoof on her friend's shoulder for reassurance.

"That'd help a lot! And... you can make them a little fancy if you like, so long as they still work." It may have taken some effort, but Rainbow was willing to trust Rarity to make them stylish in a way Dash herself would like. Just... if they had a big stupid feather or something, she was gonna be disappointed.
