Green Is So Last Season [Open!]

Ever since Rarity popped, there was one thing on the ship which irked her most. The hideous colour of the plant suits. She disliked green a lot and she vowed to change the garment's colours. She had a handful of plant suits laid out on the table in front of her and she levitated one, eyeing the material and poking it with her hoof.

"I didn't know you could make clothes from this kind of material... Let's see what you're made of so I can change your colour."

It did appear to others that the unicorn was talking to an inanimate object.

Keith was going for his usual jog, keeping himself in shape. He decided to check out a part of the city he hadn't seen yet, and came upon Stormwind Clothiers.

"Clothiers? They sell clothes?" Keith stopped a moment and looked down at the plant suit, the same one he had been wearing since he came here. "I guess I could use a new look." Keith entered the store and took a quick look around.

"Um, hello?"

"Oh, hello there! You've caught me at bad time. I was working on a new project turning this plantsuits into something more fashionable." Rarity explained and she eyed his plant suit.

"Good heavens, you're wearing one! I can offer to make an outfit for you that doesn't have to do with this leafy material."

"Aheh, wow, that's just what I came in here for." Keith said with a nice warm smile, taking note that she was a pony but not saying anything for fear of being rude.

"It would be nice to have something like I had back home. Oh, my name is Keith." He offered his hand to Rarity, still smiling.

"I'm Rarity. It's nice to meet you, Keith." The plant suits were still glaring at her.

"Maybe we can help think of an outfit for you after I'm done with the suits."

Keith eyed the plant suits and put a hand to his chin. "It's not that they're uncomfortable, they're very comfortable. They just need something to be more individual. What did you want to do to the suits?"

"I want to change the colour of the suits. Not everybody looks good in green. I think giving everyone to wear something in their favourite
colour would cheer them up."

Rarity eyed Keith curiously. "What is your favourite colour?"

"Hm, well, I really like blue, but purple is good too." Keith replied. "Those were the colors I usually wore back home. Yep, sky blue and royal purple. If you could make a plant suit in blue, I'd be very appreciative."

[whining_unicorn]

Rarity smiled at the mention of purple and nodded with approval. "Excellent choice, sir. Blue it is."

She turned to the table and levitated a plant suit. This time, she focused on the exterior of the suit and willed magic to her horn which glowed bright blue. All she had to think of was blue.

Keith stared intently at Rarity as she used her magic. "I've never seen powers like these before. I hope they work."

The suit slowly flashed blue and it creeped up the pant leg. The colour crawled upwards and soon, the suit was a brilliant turquoise. However, once Rarity stopped using her horn the colour faded back to green again.

"What?! That spell always works! Hmm..."

"Aw, that's a shame." Keith frowned in disappointment and crossed his arms. "I wish there was some way I could help you, but I don't know anything about how your powers work. Have you used it on other things before?"

[whining_unicorn]

"I have used my powers on fabrics back home but I understand the suit is not like normal cloth... It seems more plant like in nature." Rarity poked the suits with frustration.

"Why are you made of plants...!"

Keith thought for a moment, remembering all he could about plants he learned in high school.

"Well, isn't there something in plants that make them green? Chloro something. Maybe you just need to change the color of whatever it is that makes plants green."

[whining_unicorn]

"You're right! Chlorophyll!" Rarity summoned her magic again and this time she explored the cellular basics of the plant. There it was, right inside the chloroplast.

She willed those pigments to be blue and pretty soon, all the leaves that made up the suit turned a beautiful shade of turquoise once more.

"Aha! It worked!" Keith marveled at the newly colored plant suit. He picked it up and inspected it closely.

"See, the problem wasn't that hard to figure out with some ingenuity."

Rarity smiled with relief and gawked at her achievement. "I am going to make them in every shade right after I take a short break."

She saw how happy Keith was and said, "You may take this plant suit as a token of appreciation."

Keith grinned as he folded up the plant suit. "Thank you Miss Rarity, and again, thank you! I'll be sure to recommend you to anyone looking for some new clothes to wear."

[whining_unicorn]

"You're too kind, Mr. Keith. I'll see you around." Rarity waved a hoof of farewell as she decided to lay on the couch for a quick break.
