The Bookworm Strikes Again (open)
Who: Barbara and Anyone
Where: The Media Library and possible roaming
Summary: Research, tea, discussion and all that jazz. Feel free to simply come and bug her.
Warnings: None
After watching the Daligig slaughter the previous crew twice, Barbara went in search of any kind of material on the Daligig, Stacey, pod-popping and the crews which had traveled on Stacey. She didn't expect to find much more than what GLaDOS had told her but it was worth a look. Especially with all this talk of rebellion and distrust.
So, in a corner of the Media Library Barbara sat with piles books, stacks of visual recordings and audio recordings, plus pot of tea which had been sitting empty for a while. She was lost in her own world, memorising what she could and trying to gain a better picture of the ship, the war and everything else which could be considered relevant.

He takes a sip of tea. It takes visible effort for him to resist the urge to down the whole thing at once, but he's actually improved a lot since he first arrived on the ship over half a year ago. It gives him a little hope.
"I'm still waiting to get information from Command about what the heck I'm suppose to be telling people now. No one actually talks to each other around here, or if they do it's mostly secrets and half-truths. Doing your own research is the only way to find anything."
no subject
"I wouldn't say that research is exactly helpful. There isn't much more in all of these records, than what GLaDOS would gladly tell anyone." She was, of course, assuming that GLaDOS would discuss all that they had with anyone, seeming as Barbara was nothing to the AI at the time. Barbara scowled a little at her teacup and sipped at the brew Howard had brought to her table.

"There's got to be some other way to find this information. Someone we can talk to, or maybe Leon will clue me in." He bites the corner of his tongue and chews on it, clearly frustrated. "How the tea?"
Probably awful. Taste is such a secondary concern to Howard that he forgets other people care about it.

"We wouldn't have any kind of surveillance on the Daligig, they wouldn't allow it and even if there was the appropriate equipment in their areas of the ship, I highly doubt we'd be able to access it. Unless we could sneak something of our own in there but we'd first of all need to come up with something if we haven't already, and then we'd need to get into the off limits areas..." Barbara trailed off, thinking.
After a moment of sitting in silence, staring at nothing, Barbara put down the teacup and got up to pace around the table. Shoulders hunched, face turned down in a frown, she let the cogs of her mind turn. "We need some way of spying on the Daligig without being caught, or at least listening in, or grabbing something which might be of use..."

"The only reason I know that no one's gone in the restricted areas is that no one's tried recently, and we didn't even get violations for going up the food chute."

"That's true," she agreed that the tentacles were the worst that happened to them while wandering around Stacey's inner workings. If the Daligig or Stacey really hadn't wanted them in there exploring, they would have been punished somehow by now.
"Would you consider it a wise move?" because Barbara did value Howard's opinions despite how much he didn't value hers. Well, probably.

"I think anything we as a crew do to learn more is a wise move. I think me going in there might just be dumb." Easier to call it smart when it's other people risking their skins. He takes another mouthful of tea. "I just...I don't know. I'm in over my head with all this information liaison stuff anyway. But if someone doesn't do it it'll never get done."
He folds his hands over each other and rests his chin on them. "I'll do it if you'll do it."
Kind of schoolyardy, but he really would rather go into a situation with Barbara than an unknown, or no one at all. And Sakura and Zouichi have enough going on right now.
The problem would still come down to firepower, though.

"Is there a place you suggest?"
Totally submitting a plot for this.
YES :D
"We should tell someone who won't be coming, just in case something happens." Not that she knew what might happen.
Submitted! Slotted for April if it's approved.
"Great, now that you've talked like that you've jinxed it. We're all screwed." He's kidding only not really.

"I need to leave this library," she said as she stood and stretched. There weren't any clocks on the walls but it could very well have been close to 24 hours since Barbara walked in. Or maybe it was closer to 12. She had no way of knowing. "Why don't we think on it and get in touch again in say, three days' time? Unless we have an fantastic idea that needs sharing right away, of course. Or we bump into one another elsewhere."

He waves a hand over his face. "And do the sleep thing. You look tired."
