What is Love? [Valentine's Date Event]
It's shaping up to be another average day on the Transmigration 9. Crew members are going about their business as usual and all is (to most appearances, at least) about as "well" as things ever are on the ship.
Some crew members are going to be stopped out of the blue by impact with a force field.
"Attention Crewmen: You have been chosen to participate in an experiment!" GLaDOS's voice informs. They're not alone, someone else that was nearby is also caught within the same narrow radius. "Participation is mandatory. Please try to relax and enjoy the experience, as this will improve the quality of the test results."
Clearly this is going to be a wonderful day for science.
"You and your new scientific partner are now on a date," GLaDOS goes on. "As it would be detrimental to our study of the date experience if you were to be separated, you must remain close to your partner for the duration of the experiment. This will be enforced with the Transmigration 9 Crewman Containment Field. Prolonged exposure to the Transmigration 9 Crewman Containment Field may have unexpected side-effects. While any side-effects encountered will be documented and your desire to offer yourself to science is commendable, it is not a necessary part of this experiment."
"You will be informed when the test has been completed. We would like to thank you in advance for your full cooperation in the experiment and failure to attempt to foil it in any way."
"The experiment has begun, so you may begin dating."
[OOC: The exact details of your characters' confinement are up to players' discretion. Being trapped in a sensorium or other stationary place is a possibility, as is being stuck in a sort of roving invisible force field hamster ball that only affects the two of you. How far partners can move apart is probably subject to whatever's fun but they ideally shouldn't be able to sit on opposite sides of a room ignoring one another the whole time.
ICly the "test" lasts for a few hours and you are free to godmode GLaDOS telling them the experiment is finished.
If you would like a few tags from GLaDOS herself in your thread, ping me on this account or plurk or AIM or whatever is most convenient for you. :)]

Re: Jamie/Victoria
There's only one small problem. The first of the beasties is still there, much closer than before. Again it goes to fire at Jamie. This time, only the tingle of imminent danger running down his own spine is enough to warn him that he's about to be shot, and he rolls out of the way at the last possible second, the beam of the gun shattering a rock instead. A chunk of it rolls down next to him, scorched from the blow, and he grabs it, hurling it at the scale-covered head of his assailant.
It's a lucky shot, and the creature staggers for a moment, allowing Jamie enough time to get to his feet and leap at the creature with a Highland yell. There's a struggle, and Jamie manages to wrest the gun free, turning it on his opponent and firing. The creature collapses in a heap, a smoking hole rising from its chest.
Thinking it to be well and truly dead, he starts to follow the trail left behind, running as best as he can on the soft, sand-like surface. Even though the tracks are starting to fill up again, he's able to follow them until he reaches another rocky outcropping. This one appears to be going up into a slightly mountainous area, and the ground here is harder. The tracks left from the creature vanish, and he quickly scans the area for any signs of Victoria or the other beastie. The area is empty, barren of life, and he becomes more and more agitated as he fails to spot her. Finally, however, the expression on his face shifts to determination. She has to be somewhere, right? He tucks the gun he's acquired into his belt and puts his hands on his hips, looking upward.
"Think, Jamie. She'll not be far. She can't be, not if GLaDOS has those forcefields up to stop us from leaving altogether. There has to be a trail leading to a cave, or something that'll give me some clue as to where she is."
But what could that be?

The second would be the strange rock creatures that spring to life when Jamie finally passes by them. It seems that this part is another of his many obstacles of his journey towards saving his belle, and GLaDOS is making this experiment much more exciting than any could have asked for.
Compared to the first monsters, these one just look ROCK SOLID (wow that's terrible) as they snarl at Jamie, threatening to tear him limb from limb if he doesn't do anything. However, if he looks up, he can spot the creature carrying Victoria making his way up a nearby mountain at amazing speeds. Victoria's legs are moving back and forth and it looks like she's trying to pound at him. At least she's not falling unconscious! And oh goodness, what an amazing pair of lungs. You could almost, ALMOST feel bad for that creature having to hear it at such a close distance.

Then a wall of granite looms in front of him, a grinding sound coming from it, not unlike stones being crushed. It takes him a second or two to realize it's a sort of snarl, and by then one of the monsters is lifting a massive stone fist and aiming it at Jamie's head. Fortunately, it's slow to pummel him, and he's able to twist out of the way. He pulls the gun and fires - but unlike before, all it does is knock loose a few stone chips from the extremely solid surface. The rock beastie doesn't even notice, and continues inexorably on towards him, its companion lumbering along with it.
There's nothing for it but to run, and Jamie does. It's in the general direction of where he spotted Victoria being taken - if the creature can get up the mountain, so can Jamie. However, he has to shake off his pursuers...or find something that he can use against them. A mess of lava would come in handy right about now, but maybe if he can get far enough away from the rock monsters he'll have enough breathing room to try another plan.
In the meantime, he tries to keep one eye on Victoria's progress, so he doesn't lose her completely. And who knows? Maybe she'll be able to scream her captor into unconsciousness. Or figure out a way to get loose. She's clever enough she might be able to do so before he can get to her.
